The legend of zelda phantom hourglass has a really nice gameplay. You move link with the pen and attacks are done by tapping enemies and making rounds on the screen. There are even times you have to blow in the mike to put down fire and times you have to make noise so a character in the game knows you are there to help them. You also get to draw on the map and take notes. Such a great game!
How the hell did you get the Beastie Boys to record audio for this?!? It's absolutely incredible you've become so popular that you can get grammy award winning artist to record sound bites for your episodes.
Great video! I miss the backwards compatibility of the DS. Brought it with me when I lived in Japan and I had a ton of J games that came back with me to the US. Sucks with 3DS you basically need a second system...
Man. I'm surprised that Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword wasn't on this list. I thought it was one of the most unique games for the system. Considering you played it in book mode too. It was so well done and really implemented the stylus aspects into the controls well.
The World Ends With You, Infinite Space, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, and Moon are, in order, my all time favorite games on the DS (they honestly make the DS an extremely worthwhile investment all on their own), and I am very happy to see that they all got mentioned by you guys!
I remember playing dementium and being so immersed, very impressive for a handheld game back in the day. After I played that game I started playing silent hill origins on psp, which had a similar eerie atmosphere. That rekindled my interest in the silent hill series. It had been since the first silent hill on ps1 since I played a silent hill game, and after playing dementium and origins, I went through silent hill 2-4 and it became my alltime favourite survival horror series.
Probably the best system to keep around these days is a DS Lite. It can play both GBA and DS, and connect them for games like Pokémon. The DSiWare store is also down now, but you can access all of those games and features on a 3DS. A rare case where I'd actually recommend a system that's supposedly inferior to its successor.
OMG I LOVE THE MARIO & LUIGI SERIES TOO!!!!!! I finished Superstar Saga, now playing in between Partners In Time on my Android and Dream Team on the 3DS! Like this if you also love the M&L Series!!!
Sorry, but I can't understand you. Battles are really fun to me, but it requires you to always change pins as the game progresses... Honestly, one of my favourite games of all time, but yeah, it needs time to get into
@@jerrysmith8814 Its honestly not even the gameplay, I just find the story kinda boring and weird. The battles were fairly fun once I got used to them, I just didn't care to progress the story that much. Considering how much "omg so good" praise the game gets, I just don't really get it.
@@NickEnchev the game is not very interesting at the beginning and Neku is just a jackass. But as I progress through the story I began to enjoy it a lot and it honestly has some of my favourite characters of all time, Joshua for example. Fun fact; You can charge the DS Lite with a Mini USB cable. You have to flip the charger the otherway around, and the first few times it's kinda a tight fit, but it worked! Because it was like 2007, Mini USB cables were everywhere in my house and I never had to told my parents I lost my charger xD

WAFLZNSYRUP Well Kelsey didn't seem to mind. ;) She loved the Secret of Cape West and Tales of Eternia I gave her. Girl clearly has class, more than I can say for you son.
I’m so glad that you recommended The World Ends With You, I think more people need to play this game because in the gameplay it’s a fresh air, and I found the world and story super compelling. The sound track is awesome- have it on my iPod- and I love how you change partners for each week and now I’m rambling- I love this game.
My favorites not mentioned. Trauma Center for Unique Etrian Odyssey series for RPGs Contra 4, Metal Slug, Alien Infestation for Run and Gun Last Window (Sequel to Hotel Dusk) Mag Kid Slide adventure and Freshly Picked Tingle for imports.
My favourite DS games aren't here. [DS games that you SHOULD check up and try] *Game trailer links included Tales of Innocence This game plays EXACTLY like Tales of Abyss (PS2/3DS). The graphics are really good for a DS RPG that is as immense in action and story plot as it is. Why won't it be here/in this video? It is a Japanese exclusive title. Being that Tales of Innocence is even more deep of a story than Tales of Hearts...I'm really annoyed that only Tales of Hearts got a US release for it's remake on the PS Vita... If you have either a DS Lite or DS i and a working R4 card, you can simply download an English patched rom of Tales of Innocence onto it. Link to Tales of Innocence trailer: th-cam.com/video/8p6dtfoCDO8/w-d-xo.html DragonBall Kai - Ultimate Butoden is another great DS English translation Ultimate Butoden is WAAAAAY better than "Extreme" Butoden on the 3DS *A lengthy story plot with fully animated 3D cutscenes *A heavy combo system *All art is done with 3D rendering *Special moves have super cool cutscenes linked to them *Characters can be fully customised with special items for boosting stats alongside clothing and accessories ((Sunglasses, hats, alternate weapon models,e.t.c)) *A HUGE cast of characters DragonBall Kai - Ultimate Butoden trailer: th-cam.com/video/uu8JsFGLRIc/w-d-xo.html ((I'm amazed that the DS can even do what this game demands)) There is something about this game that even screams it was made with the 3DS in mind. When you are in the middle of continuing a combo,an analog animation telling you which direction to push in pops up on the screen. I recommend ordering this one online! You can download the English patch if you you want (for use on an emulator or DS R4 card),though.
DS buying guide: 1.) Chrono Trigger 2.) New Super Mario Bros 3.) Resident Evil: Deadly Silence 4.) Art Academy 5.) Sudoku by EA (if you like sudoku, this is a good DSiWare option)
I like this channel because you can tell they are gamers who love games and not just people milking what's hot for views like a ton of gaming channels.
The DS was a brilliant console with some amazing games (plus some excellent ports) But the 3ds is just as good, if not better, with IMO an even better selection of games
also some extra points: Chrono trigger on DS has an updated translation Pokemon black/white and black/white 2 are also great Pokemon games Drawn to life is a fun platformer The 2 Zelda games on DS are pretty good all the prof Layton games are great, but for some reason the UK and US versions are somewhat different All DS games are region free which is great, means you can play NTSC games on a pal DS and vice versa
+Octavia Black So yeah, the Virtual Console. The R4 cards and shit don't really count, because then I could say my PSP beats the shit out of any 3DS in terms of variety. I mean I can, and do play PSP, PS1, GB, GBC, GBA, SNES, GEN, NGPC, and even TurboGrafx, and Sega 32x games on my PSP 1001. I'm pretty sure you can even play Master System, Game Gear, and even a few N64 games on it of you really want to get technical. Although to be honest, I really wish there was an easy way to root a Vita and do all of that which a PSP is capable of on a Vita instead. Both the analog stick, and especially the D-Pad on the Vita are greatly superior than the incarnations on the PSP, the D-Pad on PSPs are stiff, segmented, and far too recessed for proper accuracy in for example the Street Fighter/ fighting games... That is another thing that I suppose the 3DS has on the PSP as well, as the 3DS's D-Pad, and even circle pad, while not perfect, are a big step up from those of which are on the PSP. I was a monster in Street Fighter IV 3D, and I found the original (launch window especially due to the far higher quality screens) 3DS's D-Pad a great input choice for accurately inputting the button combinations in SFIV.
The GBA SP was awesome as it could play everything prior and had a light and is unmatched as far as presentation, being the most compact device that folds to protect the screen. It's flaw was lacking a earphone jack, which could be fixed with an extender. DSi was awesome, but lacked GB/GBC support, which I don't understand since it contained a port for GBA. I DON'T GET IT. Sure the only good GB/GBC games were Pokemon that were remade for GBA/SP, and a few mario and zelda games, but it would have been sick if it could have played them instead of framing it to exclude them. And they dropped the GBA slot completely with 3DS. Each device is only directly backwards compatable towards the device it replaced, so owning a 3DS and GBA SP should cover everything portable outside of the Switch. DSi and SP have some really cool Funtastic colors to upgrade them into.
You could easily fix that problem by hooking up a Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS, and 3DS/2DS together, so, that way, you could probably get them to play games for any of those systems.
Just some extra information for anyone looking to buy the Guitar Hero accessory: It originally came with 2 GBA port attachments. 1 for the original DS and 1 for the Lite. So make sure when buying one, it comes with the attachment you’re needing. It also came with at least 1 guitar pick. (I believe 2. 1 blue and 1 black if I’m not mistaken.) There’s actually a couple Guitar Hero games for the DS. (I think at least 3?) You can find them dirt cheap if you don’t care about game cases for collecting. But I definitely recommend getting the attachment first as it’s sort of like the GameBoy Player for the GameCube in the sense you should get the disc first before the attachment as the disc is harder to find.
Super Scribblenauts was the best. I remember it was a game everyone would talk about, but there was only one kid in my 5th grade class that had the original Scribblenauts game for a while even with Super being out. My birthday came up and I got Super Scribblenauts. I was the only kid with the game for a while. Around the time Christmas came along, most of the kids that had DSs got SS. But I remember showing up that kid who wouldn't share his copy of Scribblenauts, because I was able to add adjectives to my creations, so I could make fire-breathing dogs, laser swords, flying motorcycles while he was only able to do the standard versions of what I just said.
I have the pink DS Lite, but i was really stupid and put lime juice on it. It doesn't really work, (as in "It doesn't really work" I mean that when you plug in the AC Adapter, the light turns on for a second, but then turns off) so i mean, there's a chance that i could fix it, and it might work
Can't lie, the DS Lite was genuinely a beautiful piece of hardware.

Interesting accessory note, there is actually a paddle controller than you can get for the DS or DS lite that works with Space Invaders Extreme 1&2 and Arkanoid DS. The controller itself was import only, but it works with the US versions of the games.
▪
They should've had an easy way to hook up the DS systems to the TV.
I know it's possible, but I don't really have the patience for the DIY stuff though.
🟥
Also a game that wasn't listed: Golden Sun Dark Dawn!
"No dragons, no swords..." 14:03 right as there are literally dragons all over the screen. lol

Kelsey is not a human, she is a Japanese robot. This was revealed through the latest Wikileaks release.
Luke Hinkle Is she really
Luke Hinkle lol 😂
No way
Where do i order mine?
I want one
The legend of zelda phantom hourglass has a really nice gameplay. You move link with the pen and attacks are done by tapping enemies and making rounds on the screen. There are even times you have to blow in the mike to put down fire and times you have to make noise so a character in the game knows you are there to help them.
You also get to draw on the map and take notes.
Such a great game!
Love you guys together. I knew I'd find an awesome list with Kelsey!
How the hell did you get the Beastie Boys to record audio for this?!? It's absolutely incredible you've become so popular that you can get grammy award winning artist to record sound bites for your episodes.
I have Mike D on speed dial.
When I heard that clip, it was as if the Beastie Boys were playing right in front of me, great stuff!
+Makoy Unggoy lol
I used to play Call of Duty: Black Ops on ds in kindergarten on the bus
"in colors i have never seen" that sounds like an early 90's add for some gimmiky tv.
Es verdad es incluso superior en catálogo a consolas de sobremesa 🔥🤪🔥
Tiene un catálogo tan... Enorme. Que ufff.🤣🤣

"World Ends with You"... Well... that answers my question from the Kinsey 3 parter. Thanks boss!!!
OMG I LOVE THE MARIO & LUIGI SERIES TOO!!!!!! I finished Superstar Saga, now playing in between Partners In Time on my Android and Dream Team on the 3DS! Like this if you also love the M&L Series!!!
DrPixelizer/TheFusi0ner I like mario and luigi series but I only have partners in time
Dat pic doe lol

I really don't get the hype around "World Ends With You". I really really tried to enjoy it.
Nick Enchev yeah I agree. The battles are frustrating
@@wistful3631 im with you man
Sorry, but I can't understand you.
And Neku himself, a character I hated in the beginning, became one of my favourite JRPG protagonists of all time
No Metroid Prime Hunters for shooters? No Megaman ZX Advent for platformers? Where is GTA chinatown wars?
Alias Anybody he doesnt like it because he is Jesus!!!
Alias Anybody ahh crap I could've got that game today instead I got a snowboarding game
Starboss05
I'm a bit late, but which of them? ^^
zx is better than zx Advent js
Gta sucks
Man, this video made me nostalgic about my DS! I'm probably going to start collecting for it more often.
Okami Den is one of the best for showing off why you need a DS. Beautiful game that you can't play any other way.
That SaGa DS is sweet! I remember when I was little and got SaGa Frontier i freaking loved that game!!!

Okay, Kingdom Hearts 356/2 days and Super Mario 64 DS. The later is an updated version of the Nintendo 64.
YES! BEASTIE BOYS!
Thanks MJR for this!!! This is the first handheld I ever bought when my own money from my first job xD This is still my fave system to date and collected a lot for this!!! Pls more more videos like this!!
I recommend "Radiant Historia", one of the best RPG's on the system if not the best!
Really?? I lost my charging cable but I have tons of mini USB cables from my PS3. Thanks for the info
I still have my nintendo ds lite and I still love to play games on it.
List of games I have on DS:
1. TNA impact cross the line
2. My Sims
3. Final Fantasy IV
4. Littlest pet shop
5. Zoo keeper
6. Madagascar kartz
7. Chrono trigger
8. Nintendogs
9. Carnival games
10. Meteos
11. My fashion studio
12. Hop
13. MvS at the olympic winter games 2010
14: fab 5 soccer
15: elite beat agents
This was such a great overview. Thanks, guys!
I'm always playing the Phoenix Wright games. After I beat them, I go back to the beginning and play them over again.
ps. #TeamMystic
please come back to the channel you are awesome
We're talking about it. I don't live in the same area as MJR and his other guests so it's harder for us to get together.
oh :(
Any love for Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure?
right here!
The challenge was infuriatingly steep toward the end, ruined the whole experience for me
I like that game it's creative as hell. It reminds me of that Tetris game on PS1 where you had the character on top you didn't want to kill ya know?
Hell yes, this game is awesome in every way!
Great music and humour! The platforming half kind of reminds me of the megaman zero games.
It good to see kelsey was team instinct and of course metaljesus is rocking a cool motorhead shirt
I also love the mario series 👍🏼
On the next episode you have to mention monster tale. Is a great metroidvania game on the DS.
I love that game. It's very underrated.
Kelsey is like, my ideal type of person to date. Christ 😂
Or maybe just a type of friend to hang out with in general!
Great list, there are some great games missing, but as long as you include Okamiden and The World Ends With You I'm happy.
Super Mario 64 was only out for 8 years when the DS came out. Crazy to think about.
One game that I recommend is Solatorobo. It's a spiritual successor to Tail Concerto on the PS1. A CIB copy is a bit pricey though.
Import it from the UK new copies cost about £15 (bout $25-30 dollar when postage is included which isn't bad).
+Adam The Gamer Ewww nobody wants pal crap lol
+Adam The Gamer yeah. I already own a U.S. copy but thanks for the suggestion.
WAFLZNSYRUP Well Kelsey didn't seem to mind. ;) She loved the Secret of Cape West and Tales of Eternia I gave her. Girl clearly has class, more than I can say for you son.
Unfortunately, Solatorobo NTSC is one of the rarest DS games ever. LOL
Isn't the PAL version region-locked because it's technically a DSi game?
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days is a great game on the DS
i prefer re:coded
Wrong
best kh game
tbh it was kinda crap, felt like a demo and the gameplay was really limited due to the ds. nice story though
Can you play these games on the new 3ds? I'm interested in going back and playing these great games.
JEFFREY you can play ds games on it
You darn diddily can
Yep
I’m so glad that you recommended The World Ends With You, I think more people need to play this game because in the gameplay it’s a fresh air, and I found the world and story super compelling. The sound track is awesome- have it on my iPod- and I love how you change partners for each week and now I’m rambling- I love this game.
My favorites not mentioned.
Trauma Center for Unique
Etrian Odyssey series for RPGs
Contra 4, Metal Slug, Alien Infestation for Run and Gun
Last Window (Sequel to Hotel Dusk) Mag Kid Slide adventure and Freshly Picked Tingle for imports.
I wonder, has he ever done any radio? I've been watching his videos for years and I just realised he has a nice sounding voice.
My favourite DS games aren't here.
[DS games that you SHOULD check up and try]
*Game trailer links included
Tales of Innocence
This game plays EXACTLY like Tales of Abyss (PS2/3DS).

DragonBall Kai - Ultimate Butoden is another great DS English translation
Ultimate Butoden is WAAAAAY better than "Extreme" Butoden on the 3DS
*A lengthy story plot with fully animated 3D cutscenes
*A heavy combo system
*All art is done with 3D rendering
*Special moves have super cool cutscenes linked to them
*Characters can be fully customised with special items for boosting stats alongside clothing and accessories
((Sunglasses,hats,alternate weapon models,e.t.c))
*A HUGE cast of characters

((I'm amazed that the DS can even do what this game demands))
There is something about this game that even screams it was made with the 3DS in mind.
When you are in the middle of continuing a combo,an analog animation telling you which direction to push in pops up on the screen.
I recommend ordering this one online!
You can download the English patch if you you want (for use on an emulator or DS R4 card),though.
I will find a Special Saga Edition of The DSi for sale one day

DS buying guide:
1.) Chrono Trigger
2.) New Super Mario Bros
3.) Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
4.) Art Academy
5.) Sudoku by EA (if you like sudoku, this is a good DSiWare option)
I like this channel because you can tell they are gamers who love games and not just people milking what's hot for views like a ton of gaming channels.
Why no Chinatown Wars? literally the best GTA game ever
The drug dealing was really cool and the way u could lose it wanted level was awesome a pretty innovative and interactive gta game it's so good
History and Reviews It is the highest rated DS game of all time. Being a history and review channel, I like to think you’d know that.
@@HistoryandReviews Ah no
History and Reviews Best rated DS game, bitch.
I have a 2DS and love it. Just need good game recommendations so I'll shop around :D
The DS was a brilliant console with some amazing games (plus some excellent ports)
But the 3ds is just as good, if not better, with IMO an even better selection of games
also some extra points:
Chrono trigger on DS has an updated translation
Pokemon black/white and black/white 2 are also great Pokemon games
Drawn to life is a fun platformer
The 2 Zelda games on DS are pretty good
all the prof Layton games are great, but for some reason the UK and US versions are somewhat different
All DS games are region free which is great, means you can play NTSC games on a pal DS and vice versa
the 3ds XL is my go to system because of the backwards compatibility . it's like 3 handhelds in 1.
+Octavia Black The third being what? The Virtual Console?
SeGa32xXx GB and GBC if you have a r4 card or download them from the e-shop
24:25 I was waiting for Ghost Trick. A criminally overlooked game.
My favorite action/adventure game on the DS was Metroid Hunters.
where's WarioWare D.I.Y?
David Hegeman sadly the servers are gone for that game:( it's got some good built in ones, but it sucks that it's servers are gone
I remember my pokewalker. Ironically I was walking around an electrode most of the time.

Gotta love Yoshi’s Island DS. Great game, takes what was great about the snes version and adds to it. Awesome game!
Here are my further picks listed below.
•Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
•Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City
•Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
Contra 4 is my favorite
bought a $5 copy with ripped off cover after I saw a cib contra 4 at pawn shop for $50
"Demenzium", in latin t is pronounced z at times, especially before an "i".
Just some extra information for anyone looking to buy the Guitar Hero accessory:
It originally came with 2 GBA port attachments.
