I got a "new" Nintendo 3DS XL from someone at my school for only 5$ since it was in cosmetically bad condition and he just wanted to get rid of it. It was originally black, but after replacing the outside top shell, outside bottom shell, and battery cover with red ones. So I basically made my own "custom" "new" Nintendo 3DS XL that is red on the exterior and black on the interior. I also had to replace the micro SD card slot and speakers due to the micro SD card slot being dented down and the speakers being busted, but it wasn't difficult to do the repairs and I spent 30$ to buy the parts. us prices are going crazy… here in germany we are on the same path, but the price increase is much slower. i owned and sold several n3ds in the past, but as soon as i heard about the used market in the us, i went and bought another n3ds for about 80 € and i think i never get rid of it again. this was about a year ago. the regular sized n3ds is the number one for me. sure, the screen of the xl version is great and i enjoyed playing it at first, but the device is huge and heavy. especially when you add a 3rd party grip, because my hands cramp after a short time, the console is just too thin. got the same issue with playing on my phone. so the regular n3ds + grip makes it the ultimate 3ds for me, i can play forever without any hand problems. and if you use ftpd you don’t need direct access to the sd card after the initial cfw process, i just send everything i need over via ftp. this completely changes the experience, i remember always having the console and a screwdriver in the same place back in the days 😂
I bought a New 2DS XL in 2017 for €139. In the next few years I bought around 20 games. And I really wanted to play them in 3D. In 2022 I was in a game shop and saw a used New 3DS XL for €109. So I bought it on the spot. Still so happy with it. The upper screen is also a IPS screen.
I miss my DS Lite Silver its broken but I lost it somewhere maybe it was stolen, it came with Blue rescue team which I lost that Case + AceKard 2 original that literary I throw the F in trash after the timebomb that time 2011 originally came with 99 games on sd card and stolen by my uncle.
I'm amazed you put 2DS at the bottom of the list. as the original 2DS is the only ergonomically designed 3DS and the only one where human sized hands wont cramp after 5 mins of gameplay.
I have the New Nintendo 3ds and it is so amazing. I am so happy I got it for 100 dollars at Walmart on black friday since it is the super mario editon that was sold that year. The prices now are insane.
In my opinion, the new 2DS XL is extremely overrated. Compared to the 3ds XL and the New 3ds XL, (the other 2 3ds systems i've had) It feels very cheap and almost hollow. Especially the upper screen, which is extreme flimsy, and bends so much thst the colors shift whenever adjusting it's position. It feels like I might break it on accident when opening the console. That beung said, its unique size, (being smaller than the other XL consoles; the camera and home/start/select buttons being moved to the sides and hinge of the console) may make it better for people with smaller hands.
Definitely an interesting take. I do not own any 3DS, 3DS XL, or 2DS systems. I do however own N3DS, N3DS XL's, and N2DS XL's. I would like to mention that the New 3DS base model does have two things above and beyond the N2DS XL, and one thing above the New 3DS XL. 1. Battery life is superior to the New 2DS XL. Though it's slightly worse than the New 3DS XL. This is due to the calibrations of the models, but it does vary greatly, as the New 2DS XL's are the only model with a consistent calibration, and both New 3DS models have absolutely wonky off the wall calibration that differs whether it's IPS or TN, with various colour temps, balance, brightness, contrast, color, and even sharpness. No seriously, they're probably unique to each factory, and Nintendo just failed to send a universal setting until the New 2DS XL's. However the New 2DS XL's have rather high brightness, color, and contrast vs every model of New 3DS + XL I've seen. They're also consistent, and the backlight is brighter. A lot brighter. The speakers are also inherently louder due to the downward position towards cupped hands, just to get a similar level of sound for most players. I have large hands, so for me it's louder, but to move sound over that much distance as well...yeah. So it eats through battery life like nothing else. Plus the New 2DS XL uses the New 3DS battery, rather than the New 3DS XL battery. So not as much power to draw from. 2. The screen ratio is flawless on the New 3DS. While both the XL's stretch it, so certain games look more jaggy as a result. While it's much crisper and cleaner on the smaller "New" model. Like...way cleaner. === I'll add in a 3rd. This is a huge mark against the New 2DS XL. Replacing screens, and just generally getting into the system to clean it. Screen replacement is about a 6/10 rank or so versus only a 3 or 4/10 with both New 3DS models. Especially as they use double sided sticky pads between the screen and back. Plus the way the wires lay inside make it a pain, and taking the top off the bottom is trickier...only somewhat (this is actually where every 3DS unit seems to have issues, though I haven't been inside the original models of either, apparently the exception is the original 2DS). Though the smaller New 3DS does have one issue: it's far harder to find parts as they didn't release nearly as many units, especially outside Japan.
I used to have a New 3DS XL but couldn't stand the pixelated screen and noticable jaggies, I ended up selling it and getting myself the normal sized N3DS and it has been a blast, with better pixels per inch making every game more sharper due to the small screen and better portability, not to mention that I got lucky in getting dual IPS screens, this for me is the best version out of all the 3DS consoles
if you just hold it further from your face, the pixel density for the apparant screen size is identical. if you hold the smaller screened 3ds right up to your face, it will look just as blurry
@HyruleanFate, I would heed @pokadrew7522 's advice. The cover does peel off. My Hyrule N3DSXL also has chips in it but I am living free with it. It is meant to be used and I have no issue with it looking that way a bit. That and Zelda iconography kinda looks cool when worn down a tad anyways 🤷♂
Agree with most of your rankings, but I personally would have switched the 2DS with the 3DS. The 2DS screens look bigger, and it feels better in the hands too. They're also the most affordable too.

Always preferred the new 3ds xl i even had the snes edition once. But for some reason i have fallen for the new 3ds ( smaller model ). Lately and have some love for the custom faceplates. Ordered me one still waiting for it and got some yoshi and dbz plates looking forward to it.
My entry into the Nintendo 3ds line was the 25th anniversary legend of zelda ocarina of time limited edition console back in 2011, but I'm looking to upgrade to the new 3ds xl Majora's mask limited edition hopefully this year. I love my console and it still looks like it did the day I got it brand new but I'm a 6'8" guy and I need a bigger console, and I've tried plenty of 3ds options which give increased grip size such as the racing wheel accessory and the circle pad pro attachment but it's past time to upgrade. I've had tons of fun and made great memories with this and I hope that whoever ends up buying it from me do the same. Thanks for the video, I appreciate getting a comparison of all 3ds and 2ds consoles out there
now im kind of stuck between getting the new 3ds for the enhanced features (and also me having wanted one since i was about 10-ish years old) or the old 3ds for the nostalgia i had with my old one before it got stolen...
I have a nice collection of N3DS and N3DSXLs. 2 of each. 3 are dual IPS (Hyrule XL and black and white non-XLs) with the 4th being dual TN (SNES XL). They are my pride and joy. For the N3DS systems, I have the following cover plates: plain white (worn), plain black (lightly worn), glow in the dark Boo (excellent condition--very, very light scratches; only visible in direct light), Hanafuda (mint), and South Korea exclusive Mario Items (mint). I have stopped collecting as I am satisfied completely. I play all my systems. 2 are hacked and 2 are not (one for each size). I don't know what makes me crazier though: having all these rare systems or using them all without any cases or screen protectors 😱
The *New* 3DS XL is objectively the best one. The *New* 2DS XL is lower quality, my brothers have had ones break multiple times, sure, the micro SD is more accessable, but damn the quality is poor. The *New* 3DS is a close second best. The original 2DS has a better ergonomic feel than the 3DS and 3DS XL, so it's third. Then the 3DS XL is forth and the original 3DS is fifth.
The original 3ds is pretty good I just bought it in black after selling my original modded 2ds. The og 3ds is comfortable in my hands and I like the smaller screens lol
Yee, i got a “new” 3ds xl a few weeks ago and put it magic on my own. Glad i had the opportunity to buy it, nearly 150$ with all taxes and shipping. With a 32 gb sd card I definitely recommend to buy it. Even is 6-7 years old the new 3ds system is very handy and powerful. And if u dont like 3ds effect then new 2ds xl is the way
A long time ago my “3ds” broke, today I suddenly had the urge to get a new one for Christmas. After watching this video I came to the shocking revelation that “3ds” was actually just a new 2ds XL that I thought was a 3ds. (Close enough I guess)
I'm highly considering getting a 2DS XL, from so many reviews being positive about it. I also don't like the 3D stuff for my eyes, and I'm not planning on playing Minecraft anytime soon lol
They are all good and all models are very, very, (and I cannot stress enough) VERY easily home-brewed. Just get one! It’s really about what YOU want. Want 3D function and small form factor? Go with OG 3ds. Want that but bigger? Go with 3DS XL. Don’t care about clam shell design or 3d effect? Go with 2ds. Dont care about 3d but still want a clamshell design? Go with 2ds XL (You can get new 3ds or old 3ds. The C stick functionality on the New 3ds is pretty lame and rarely gets used. Plus there’s hardly any real improvements over the original, in my opinion. Although I do like the design better on the New 3ds models )
You guys bought your 3ds’? I got one from my mom’s bosses son who had a Mario maker 2DS. He didn’t have a Charger for it and didn’t plan on getting one so he gave it to me.

I love the Original Aqua 3ds it feels good. The one that I have is a blue inside black outside 2ds
Always preferred the new 3ds xl i even had the snes edition once. But for some reason i have fallen for the new 3ds ( smaller model ). Lately and have some love for the custom faceplates. Ordered me one still waiting for it and got some yoshi and dbz plates looking forward to it.
Omg you are so young. Good video. The only one I don't have is the 2ds original.
I don't know what makes me crazier though: having all these rare systems or using them all without any cases or screen protectors 😱
video idea: top 50 best 3ds games worst to best (since I'm not sure what to play)
And if u dont like 3ds effect then new 2ds xl is the way
New 3DS LL with dual IP screens from Japan
I already exchange to a friend mi old 3DS XL with circle pad pro for a new 3DS XL and i’m pretty satisfied
Yoooo thank you so much
Fantastic video
I managed to snag a N3DS XL Galaxy for only 80 bucks, just required some cleaning
hello, great video i just had a small question, can we take videos with this new 2ds xl ? thanks for your answer
I got my hands on a brand-new Japanese Lavender/White 2DS XL, but I’m not sure how I’m going to mod it (kinda scared I’ll break it)
You should tell us how to add cfw on dsi
Edit anton pls reply
They are all good and all models are very, very, (and I cannot stress enough) VERY easily home-brewed. Just get one!
It’s really about what YOU want.
Want 3D function and small form factor? Go with OG 3ds.
Want that but bigger? Go with 3DS XL.
Don’t care about clam shell design or 3d effect? Go with 2ds.
Dont care about 3d but still want a clamshell design? Go with 2ds XL
(You can get new 3ds or old 3ds. The C stick functionality on the New 3ds is pretty lame and rarely gets used. Plus there’s hardly any real improvements over the original, in my opinion. Although I do like the design better on the New 3ds models )
I want to get a 3ds xl but I hate the sd card placement. I have a 3ds but I actually like my 2ds more it’s more comfortable to me
Get an LL for like $140 in mint condition, super easy to remove region locks.
You guys bought your 3ds’? I got one from my mom’s bosses son who had a Mario maker 2DS. He didn’t have a Charger for it and didn’t plan on getting one so he gave it to me.
Was able to get a 3DS XL and some accessories for 140USD!
I upgrade from 3DS to New 3DS XL Samus edition with dents + 2nd hand for affordable price of 7,500PHP last year the only my main problem was the sounds are too weak compare to the oldest of the 3DS model.
good thing there is a headphone jack :P
@@guerrierim15 headphone jack hole is pretty weak
Honestly if you can snag any iteration at a reasonable price nowadays, get it.
The default position for anyone wanting to buy one of these has to be to mod it. The new 3ds XL is the only way to go
well now my question is which one is the biggest and has the biggest screens? ( i rly want the 3ds LL pink n white or the XL hot pink!)
Hey Anton, I've been a fan of your channel now and I was wondering if you could make an updated video on how to install smash bros universe because I followed your guide and it won't let me move this one file onto my SD card, I have asked for help on the discord, but they seem to ignore me and my request. If you could do this for me, I would be so grateful.

@@nothanksfools haha, thank you mate! Gonna try this one out
I broke my n3dsxl backplate by trying to replace the sd card now im stuck with ftp if I don't want to break it more
I would recommend buying a New 3DS LL from japan with dual IPS screens, mod it and flash either EU or American system firmware onto it. By fir the best and cheapest solution. I have a New 3DS XL from europe in mint condition with IPS on the top screen, and I am never letting it go.
I only have enough for a 2ds or original 3ds and i think ill go with the original 3ds because i used to have a 2ds already so its not anything new
I’m thinking of getting a 3DS for my birthday, anyone want to recommend a certain model of it?
When It comes to hacking and emulation would it be worth it to look into upgrading my old 3ds to a new 3ds or 2ds
I have a new 3ds XL and im thinking about getting a DSI XL for ds games.
Literally got my DSi XL today specifically for DS games
What game is that one 3:22

I downloaded the homebrew channel for the wii but i don't see any apps. Did i do something wrong?
the homebrew channel is just blank.
Can a person still play the old pokemon games? (Xy ORAS USUM etc)
There's always a old android flagship for a lower price than a new 3ds xl guys, if you wanna go emulation
Question: Can the original Nintendo 2DS run Kid Icarus Uprising? Just out of curiosity.
Yes it can, if you check the box art of any game it will make it clear which ones can only be played on the 'new' consoles. See the Minecraft 3ds game for a comparison.
How can I update luma on my 3ds I just got on my modded 3ds after a few months and I updated it to 11.17 before updating luma 3ds and now I can't update it 😬
Does anyone know if the new 2ds xl can play Minecraft?
It can
I got a new 3ds xl for 120 dollars au, basically around 80 usd
Today I was about to buy a new 3ds xl from my friend but it started glitching and when i started a game it said that the sd card isnt supported. If you know how to fix it tell me in the comments of this comment
I havent watched this video yet but I predict he will say either the New Nintendo 3ds XL Or The New Nintendo 2DS XL
What to buy og 3ds xl or new 3ds xl, powerful enough for heavy gaming use
og does 90-95% of what the new one can do probably only get the new if u intend on playing in 3d for. long time, need to play the 3 good games that need a c stick. If theyre the same price the new
why do bros eyes stare into the innermost reccesses of my soul
Still like to play the 3DS.
I love the die hard 3ds fans vs die hard switch fans debate about which is better. I have both, and both are great, so WHY NOT BOTH?...
bro you are handsome
hey anton how do you get the wii channel version of usbloader gx
Look it up on the internet
haven’t watched yet, but OG 3ds negs.
just finished the video, I would like to declare your opinion incorrect.

@@kaleifletcher9358 new 3ds or new 2ds xl
I think the best looking is the og 3ds. The most comfortable the og 2ds but also the ugliest. 3ds xl feels the cheapest but light and comfortable. The new 3ds xl is more premium and is the one I use more. I can’t say anything on the new 2ds and and small new 3ds cuz I never held one.
new 2DS XL is definitely the most premium in terms of look and feel, while the new 3DS XL definitely is the most premium in terms of features and build quality.
