As you said "I want to be my own person" and As a marine fan I want to be part of the Gm. I've been thinking about a game like that for years now excepted I can't Code. If there is a Mechanic i really want to see it is a curve of progression unique to Each faction. You progress based on Achievment not on Farming Xp by killing everything that move around. After all Pirate get bounty by achieving something (Seizing Island or Raiding treasure) and Marine too (Capture Pirate or Defend specific GM facility). I won't flood you with my idea so good luck.
@@samuek607 Very one piece like of you. Well another thing I want to see (but i think it can be add later) is some kind of Morale Bar. In One Piece people can commit Good or Bad DEED. Luffy is a "Good Pirate" (Free Island and Stuff) but in contrast Crocodie is a total D*ck (Lets build a pirate country). This Morale bar might affect the way the world perceive you. If you have a good reputation even as a pirate Island will tend to help you, If not they will resist (something along those line). Same for the Marine and the revolutionary. I'm actually out so I can't bring more details but the only group i don't see this system fitting is the CP. Sorry but those dude are Straight up Evil.
One thing I find important is for devil fruits to be EXTREMELY rare, or else it'd break immersion for sure. Maybe CP agents could get free devil fruits(like in the anime).
You should add 'bounty hunter' as a class. If you do world events (end of series rn) you may also have hunting marines for bounties. Open world as much as possible would be best, but sea crossing must be like Black Flag. Plus lots of fun regional things. Weather, monsters, and pirates/marines/bounty hunters who you can encounter.

But the one piece world is a world where anyone can beat anyone, it’s just that similarly to a video game, you’d have to do some grinding lol. It’s a world where even someone like Usopp(while in far worse condition than his opponent mind you) can stand a chance against someone like luffy with the right items. Or even someone like luffy (with enough help from all the friends he gathers along the way) can stand a chance against someone like Gecko Moria. * Suggestion: A "Bounty style" Reputation system for Bounty Hunters Just like how *Bounties* are used to represent "notoriety" and (Roughly/indirectly) strength of Pirates. The *Cross Guild bounties* are also used in a similar manner for Marines. I would like to suggest a *"Reputation system"* for Bounty hunters which is a rough measure of how strong and how many pirates they have caught.
Okay, i know you want this to be a certain way, but i genuinely dont see how your game will survive past a couple months being D&D. Yes, you could totally add some of those mechanics but overall, i really think this should be a genshin impact-style game. @stephendecker1227 had a point. One piece is all about exploring! @kingh.d5838 's idea sounded so fun! Please dont restrict the game to dice and narration, it will only make situations like that so boring! About what @ateenageboy2559 i totally agree! Relying on stats for observation haki is just what i was gonna say! Another idea is that the game can force both players into a slo-mo state where they both have to button mash to fill a bar, (or you can make it so that the person punching, person A has to button mash and person B has to do quick-time dodges- still in slo-mo but they have to press it/hold and let go at the right time) but you can make it so that they can only use future sight a number of times because spamming that could get kind of annoying... About your character designs, they looked great but you know what? I couldnt see Odas vision in them at all. They werent wacky enough- even the menacing characters have some kind of dumb quirk, or most of them do. I think whoever's drawing these needs to let loose and be more creative. The goofiness is what makes one piece one piece! Dont be afraid to make ugly characters, even if theyre good guys, or supposed to pose an actual threat. I also dont remember any islands on the grand line being normal, and/or having normal people, so you should keep that in mind too! Ill add more ideas later, if i get any.
Some things to consider are the different grades and types of swords in one piece. Like grade, skillful grade, great grade, and supreme grade(also black blades) Also with the different types of haki and uses it has in the anime and in your game. So observation haki can let sense the presence of any living creature and it can let you also feel and predict their thoughts, emotions and see the future. Armament haki is an invisible armor that sheilds you from taking greater damage, makes your attacks stronger, and allow you to beat someone without touching them. You can fuse haki into your weapons.Conquerors haki is putting your will on others. Anyone will a weaker will than yours passes out. You can tame creatures with it and even fuse it with your body and weapons to make them stronger. Observation and armament is something that anyone can unlock but not everyone can use conquerors as it is really rare in the anime. Don’t forget the different types of devil fruits: paramecia(changes your anatomy), logia(use and become a natural element), zoan(animal transformations and traits), and mythical zoan(mythical creature/legend/deity transformations). Awakenings for each fruit vary: paramecia(affect environment), zoan(change in animal transformation), logia(no awakening but certain mastery can permanently alter climate of environment), mythical zoan(no awakening except mc’s fruit). You should also have the option to customize and make own devil fruit(within reason).
First of all, love the videos Now on to the topic I dont know how the graphics will be so I am taking the liberty to assume it will be like the old remastered pokemon games like Pokemon RED I dont know if the game will be focused for Console, PC, or mobile but what I am about to say can be applied to all of them \MAIN TOPIC\ So basically the main focus of the game will be the battle and its main mechanics will be Haki and Devil Fruits \HAKI\ Starting with Haki, there are 3 types of haki- Observation, Conquerors and Armament Haki Depending on the siuation all of them can be applied differently \OBSERVATION HAKI\ The most broken and hardest to code will be Observation Haki because of its uses We use Observation Haki to evade attacks and predict the future attack of the opponent But the latter cant be translated into the game as the game will be 'Real Time' So we can only use it to Evade attacks and this can be done through Stat System The more Stats in Observation Haki, the more moves the player can dodge Dodging can be intentional and automatic To achieve intentional dodging, the player has to predict the opponents moves This the the most practical way to do it in the game To achieve automatic dodging, the character needs to have more stats that the opponent character in observation haki but another thing to note is that the more physical stats the character has over the opponent character can impact the dodging and vice-versa. The biggest thing to note is that the more stats in Observation haki means that even if the opponent has slightly more superior physical stats, the players character can dodge the attack and vice-versa For example, A can dodge B's attack because A's observation haki is more than B's observation haki but if B has more physical stats than A, B can ''maybe''(depends on the stats) hurt A before he can dodge the attack A can dodge B's attack because his Observation Haki is 10 points higher than B but if B's physical stats is 10 points higher than A ''maybe'' he can hurt A If the stats are equal the slower person (the person who couldnt press the attack button before the opponent) will get hit and there will be no automatic dodging as the haki cancel each other out If the Observation Haki is equal and the physical stats are slightly apart, the faster player and character will get the hit first and can change depending on the factors like internet speed, performance of the device. I understand the idea of custom abilities for a character but will you also include the randomness of eating an unknown devil fruit? Also there is weakness as well water , sea stone, and elemental weakness and superiority.
Other scources of movesets besides devil fruits like fishman karate, swordsmanship skills, and stuff like the dude with hypnosis or kits like don kriegs arsenal.
Wouldn't you need some kind of roguelike system to build explorable inlands with, or custom inlands with. Exploring is a big part of one piece, after all.

Ok so here is my suggestion, I know that it’s based on DND but I would sincerely appreciate if it wasn’t turn based and was instead fast paced complex combat with the various abilities and skills each character can develop. I’d just love to be traveling on the seas with my crew and run into another ship, get into a firefight, and sneak onto their ship with my invisibility fruit to assassinate their captain while they’re fighting with the cannons all in real time. Or use my observation haki with just the right timing to dodge a gum gum Gatling and counter attack before they’re even finished punching.
I think some of those features would clash with each other... If it was real-time, observation haki would have to kick in before the other person pressed the attack button... I have ideas in mind for how to get large-scale battles to run quickly even in a turn based setting, but I don't want to reveal my trade secrets too early (I hope you'll understand)

But I will say that the observation haki can work similarly to spider sense in spider man, there can be an indicator on your screen AFTER your opponent has inputted the command to attack. And if it gets to the level of future vision, it can functionally in game work in a way that puts both players into a katakuri like point of view that slows down the attacker but only if the timing for the usage of the future sight is absolutely perfect. And even if you don’t like that idea there are many many ways to stop the features from clashing with each other, just takes a little brainstorming. This is true of all features that would allow for real time combat I’m sure.
I think your going to need harder rules. Harder as in more defined. Make sure to incorporate Haki, the various martial arts of one piece like Fish-Man Karate, Okama Kempo, and many others. There is a lot of work for something like this, Maybe showcase what you have done alresdy.
Something I find will be hard to implement is the one piece abilities that exist just cause oda wanted them to. There's no reason for them, no DF no Haki just whacky.
One thing I always have a criticism for one piece is how centered the world is around the strawhats. Making Oda ignore other factions, so I'm hoping you can fix that. Put criminal organizations like AIM, Cadmus, or Hydra. Bounty Hunters with their own system, with an explanation why don't they go after Pirates, maybe they have bigger fish to fry, or they just don't like hunting in the water. How about kingdoms that aren't involved with pirates at all and have their own goals. The closet thing I could think with these kingdoms is like Latveria and Wakanda from Marvel Comics, or Alantis and Themeschyria from DC Comics. These are just suggestions so the player won't be stuck playing pirate or marine. I always have more suggestions if ya want, just ask

DND is 99% of the problem. The combat will always be shit if you follow DND rules even SLIGHTLY, RNG need to weigh HEAVILY for the player in combat Misses have to be balanced to a point where it makes sense. AN EXPLOSION that covers the entire AREA should never have a chance to miss a rat because they are "small" with the Highest RNG in favor for them. Typical Dice Rolls need extreme changes but Low damage numbers are needed. keeping it Set to 0-100 unchanging. Honestly TTGs all suck with combat by limiting themselves to the dice and plain numbers there is a reason videogame backends tossed that shit out ages ago. Still Suprised people use roll 20 they honestly SUCK ASS and a basic ASS unity game template could get it done better.

A One Piece game Bauldur’s Gate 3 style would be phenomenal. But just doubt a gaming company who could pull that off would make a one piece game 😭

DND is 99% of the problem. The combat will always be shit if you follow DND rules even SLIGHTLY, RNG need to weigh HEAVILY for the player in combat Misses have to be balanced to a point where it makes sense. AN EXPLOSION that covers the entire AREA should never have a chance to miss a rat because they are "small" with the Highest RNG in favor for them. Typical Dice Rolls need extreme changes but Low damage numbers are needed. keeping it Set to 0-100 unchanging. Honestly TTGs all suck with combat by limiting themselves to the dice and plain numbers there is a reason videogame backends tossed that shit out ages ago. Still Suprised people use roll 20 they honestly SUCK ASS and a basic ASS unity game template could get it done better.
But... Baldur's Gate...
Specifics of the rng can always be negotiated, but the turn based aspect is crucial for the flexibility

@@samuek607 ew baldurs gate. Also the turn based aspect is fine but DND turns are downright BAD. AC is also NON NEGOTIABLE, ITS BAD Heavily weighted to Wasting everyones time and an ultimate reason why no one wants to play TTG OG rules. I still hate Baldurs gate period.
