I think I speak for many when I say that we'd love to see a more in-depth review of the auto focusing systems and their respective differences. Great video and thanks!
Only 5 minutes in, but stopping to take a minute to say how much I am loving these super in depth camera videos your channel has been releasing right when cameras come out. Keep up the great work!
Amazing review! As an Eos R and C70 owner, I feel that the R5C is an amazing complementary camera for wedding, documentary, and journalism shooters who want the best of both, worlds, it’s a shame it lost ibis and didn’t gain a full or even mini, hdmi port, but for the price point I think it’s understandable. It’s truly two great cameras in one. Great job as always, can’t wait for the ” how to upgrade “video!
Simply put, there is nobody else, zero else out there on the internet world of photo gear reviewers capable to match the rather intriguing superb quality of your video content output. Period.
Far from explaining the product, you are the best on TH-cam, the way you present, talk and editing work all that make the the best for me and deliver the all information about the product. so big thanks for you.
The R5C has peaked my interest. Your footage was amazing - wish you guys one day will upload the raw-straight-from-camera files [maybe 5 seconds each] for us to download and pixel-peep. Thanks! Always a great job!
39:49: Yes please! Would LOVE a deep dive into the AF on the R5c, especially comparing the R5 and the C70 with it. I'm very concerned that the R5c has the same AF system that the C70 uses (Dual Pixel CMOS AF with iTR AF X) when in video mode. That is a large downgrade in my opinion as I chose the R5 over the C70 for all of my gimbal work due to the R5's AF performance. The C70 struggles far more than I would like and is VERY frustrating to use on a gimbal in a run and gun situation. By the way...thank you SO much for this review! By far the most comprehensive R5c review to date. Excellent job!
If it had a SDI or Full HDMI I would be all over it. As it stands I would never use a microHDMI port when doing any work where reliability is important. A massive oversight on Canon's part.
Agreed, it would have been a nice change but one that may not be possible with the current layout internally. Redesigning the body / internals more would have increased the price. It's a shame, but understandable. Jake
99% this body will be used at videoproduction with cages, and cages make it fairly easy to secure HMDI port. And it shoots all RAW formats internally, so you are not pushed to use an external recorder.
Wow, wow, wow! I've been waiting for this release to upgrade from the R. So glad I waited and didn't switch to Sony. Now I get to keep all my EF and RF glass and get the R5 stills capability monitor quality and ergonomics with a video monster attached. Happy day.
This is the hybrid camera I've been waiting for! I need the 45MP and the video capabilities. Sure its not for 100% videographers or photographers but most of my clients need both and now I can cater to that market.
I'd imagine it's because they didn't want to redesign the PCB inside the camera which changing the HDMI may have caused. It probably would add quite a bit to the production cost of the camera compared to just using the R5's internals. Of course what they should have done is just put a full size hdmi on the original R5.
Agreed. No excuse for such a shit connector on a pro camera. The A7S3 is a smaller camera with a full size HDMI. I'm sure Canon had their reasons. I just don't agree with them. I would pay extra for sure to avoid the inevitable nightmare of destroyed Micro HDMI cables and ports.
@@JonathanPalfrey I believe this is the reason. From what I heard, it's about chip shortage too. Resigning the board would have meant a longer wait to get the camera to sale, whereas they can use the exact same one from the R5 (along with some other parts) to speed things up. Seems like Canon have been pretty honest about that. I know a guy who has been waiting a year after ordering a Sony FX6, so it's understandable that they're trying to do stuff like this.
I commented on this camera a few days ago and yes full HDMI would have been nice ibis would have been nice although on a gimbal Id rather not have ibis but after learning that not much was taken away from the photo side of things and all the record options you get... this is a wonderful bargain . 8k internal (with fans this time ) 6k super 35 , 4k with 8k oversampled footage this is a wonderful bargain! Also ,you get the best of both worlds because this was already a Top of the line full frame photo camera (color science auto focus plenty of megapixels )now you get 8k internal without a external device and 6ksuper 35 ! What full frame gives you 8k that has internal fans for cooling not to mention the great canon color science ? The auto focus is better than c70 not as good as r5 for video but I can be fine with that I'm sure there will be updates as well . You get alot for 4600 .this is better option for a hybrid than a s1h, or sony a74, fx3 (fx3 lowlight, ibis, full hdmi, 12800 dual gain ,audio handle and ability to control zoom lenses are special for video but remember thats a video based camera ). It has more features than a r6 but if you want to spend less get R6 . R5c is appears to be a beast but we'll see when real world long term use test come to us via TH-cam.
I think the way this camera is targeted, it's likely going to be rigged out for most applications, which is why they've removed ibis, like you've said with your gimbal
@@creativegreats6924 Yes, when you go up the ISO, there is very quickly some noise on the low lights. My 1DX MK II is much more efficient in noise control when I raise the ISO
First and foremost, let me just say fantastic job bringing this detail-filled review to us as quickly as you have one of the most information-packed videos on the Canon EOS R5C to date. Secondly, after watching your video along with hearing what Gordon Lang has to say about this new release, I have returned my Canon EOS R5 and now eagerly await the availability of the EOS R5C Thank you once again for doing a fantastic job from your friendly neighborhood photographer in Orlando FL Michael Allen Seaquist
Very good review. It deserves a part II . More autofocus tests, rigging the body, user experience notes. Good idea with the adapters. True that meike has a new adapter with VND, maybe a comparison between that and the canon offer, color shifting, aberations, etc. it could be a solution to use NP-F battery with the smallrig adapter with the dummy battery. I am wondering if there is a battery not original pop up. Also, maybe more tests with the rolling shutter performance. WIth CF cards there was a solution to plug a dummy card with usb c cable to an ssd. I am wondering if there is any alternative to Cfexpress cards... They are very expensive... somehting like 900 euros for a 2 TB wise card... or 600 euro for the sandisk 512 GB. Also, the audio side is important. Is there 4 channel audio recording or just stereo with the tascam? More tests with that unit is a must. Thank you for your work and I am grateful for what you are able to give us. Have a great year!
Hey Valentin, first off, thanks for watching! Second, we absolutely will be doing a follow up video, maybe framed around responding to peoples questions from this video? and I will make sure your questions are included! Jake
So the Sony A1 was basically the ultimate hybrid camera, but still more tailored towards stills. I think the R5 C is now the perfect hybrid camera since the R5 is already stellar for stills, but this big video-centered improvement makes it a cut above the competition. And is MUCH cheaper than the A1.
It's funny how internal ND is the major benefit being artificially held back for dedicated video cameras now. If the R5C had IBIS it would have been a genuine all round delight - but not having it kinda kills the photo camera side for me. Anyway, what excites me more is how Sony will have to respond to this.
Thanks for being the only reviewer who at least mentioned (albeit so nonchalantly one must be quick to catch it) that the R5C has DELETED the AMAZING vehicle, animal and bird autofocus capabilities of the R5 when used in video mode. I just ordered an R5C, but after seeing your vid, and confirming with a Canon rep that these amazing AF features are indeed absent on the R5c while in video mode (and he told me he knows of no Canon plans to mod Cinema OS to add it), I decided to refuse delivery. I'm sticking with my R5 (as I film lots of fast moving vehicles) and adding a new Shogun Connect 7 for long form films.
Great review. There was only one information missing for my needs. No wifi control in video mode with Canon App... Huge bummer. Before buying 2 R5 C, I tried a R5. I shot a couple of 4k hevc clip and the camera overheated after 10 minutes. Except from that, I liked everything. It was great to put the cam on a crane and be able to remote the camera with an i-Pad. Even touching the screen to focus where I want. This was in video mode. After watching a couple of reviews (this one is the best!) that confirmed there was no problem of overheating I ordered 2x R5 C. Now I discovered that in video mode, there is no wifi control. In fact, if you want it, you need to buy a super expensive grip (Canon WFT-R10A Wireless File Transmitter at $999) It holds two batteries but guess what? Only one battery powers the camera and the other powers the wifi is a joke. The camera battery dies fast, while the wifi battery never dies. Question to Canon : Why this fonction was removed when it's available on the R5? Not enough power for the fan, the wifi and video recording? Then why it does not work when you use an external power supply??? There is a wifi for the photo mode! Bring it back on the video mode!
Great review! I really wish this thing had a few extra stops of DR. Whenever I see the blown out bit on blue skies in mid to high contrast scenarios it makes it hard to take this thing (or the R5) as a cinema camera. I still am considering one to couple with my R5 but the Komodo 6k may be enough to lure me upward in my next purchase.
One consideration if you're trying to decide. Now the R5c is out, its not impossible to pick up a mint R5 second hand for less than 3k. So if budget is a consideration and you're a hybrid shooter for me its worth putting up with some shooting limitations of the R5 and spend the extra on glass.
I own and C70 and just pre-ordered the R5C. I was in the process of selling all my EF lenses to get RF lenses but considering the R5C does not have internal ND's, would you think it would be smarter to keep the EF lenses and adapt them with a ND adapter? Or are the RF lenses that much better than EF that I should still upgrade and just use an ND front filter on all my lenses?
Lets not forget that this will also support that funky r5 VR dual lens making this quite possibly one of the least expensive VR cameras at the resolution.
Very curious about the autofocus conclusion in video mode. Seems like the main catch. Also curious how dependent you are on IS lenses now that there is no ibis in video. Notably as there is no “b roll king” 85 mm IS on the RF system.
Panasonic s1h seems to be the better option with full hdmi, ibis ,6k ,6k raw 60fps with atomos , fans , Netflix approved , amazing image , tech to deal with flicker . Cheaper. The full hdmi on r5c would have been worth the extra cost to almost anyone. very disappointed .
@@sadovski.pavel.photography but it has micro HDMI and most ppl who plan to make money with this will be using this with a external monitor . Unless you are doing a more reality look like corporate work the s1h beats this image and every mirrorless out there . S1H is highly underrated and I dnt even own it yet . I've had the gh5s and it's not same as the s1h . S1h is superior to all mirrorless cameras if you are wanting the cinematic look. I need more to lean me into a canon r5c that needs a gimbal to get stable footage with no HDMI . The canon r3 seems more appealing for video with ibis . No gimbal needed
4:39 It's weird how camera companies are leaning into the whole "dual native ISO" now when they technically have been doing it for years When I first got my a7s mark 1 I noticed a "noise bug" when changing iso and looking at false color on an external monitor I took it to nab and they couldn't explain it, they took me around to a bunch of engineers, even the guy who designed the sensor Years later people complained about a "noise bug" on the A7sII Turns out it wasn't a bug, it was dual native ISO... I tested it out and can confirm it works on the A7s, a7sii a7rii, a6100, a6400 All of the alpha cameras have dual native ISO..always have
@@CVPTV I’ve heard people state that AF and/or digital IS is not possible even in 24/30p in 8K RAW unless external power is connected. Is this correct?
@@CVPTV random people on social media haha. not reliable, that's why I wanted to check with you all! If it's available in 25, I'm sure it's available in 24p. Looking to get my hands on it to make a creative piece as soon as I can. Thank you again!
Would you possibly consider a tutorial(or an answer in the comments lol) for correctly connecting the c70, R5c, and zoom F6 all together with time code for an interview setup? This is something that is rarely discussed for production in tutorials and confusing to me as they are all different input types for the time code. Thanks Absolutely love your content!!!
Such a brilliant review. I'm a photographer who increasingly needs more video demanded from clients as well as photography. The only thing missing here is how the lack of IBS in the C affects the stills photography. Thanks!
So how often one shoot under 1/2*FL is really the question. Also all long FL lenses have IS. Given thr high ISO capability of modern FF, raising SS isn't an issue either. To be frank, practically speaking, IBIS is nice to have but never a "must" and stills history evolved literally without IBIS. IBIS is for the most part, a modern marketing scheme. R5c without IBIS is perfectly okay.
To be perfectly fair, IBIS is a nice feature but it's not the end of the world or a "must have" since modern cameras has great ISO capabilities already that it kinda lessens the need for it and you can still get IS capabilities if your lens have it. Plus people probably gonna put this camera on a rig anyway unless they really really want to do a run & gun type of shoot.
R5 owner (and my two Mark IV sit in the equipment closet feeling lonely). The R5 C looks really nice but just in the last week rented the C70 twice and I can't see the reason to buy an R5 C, especially given the extra dynamic range on C70. And the C70 full size HDMI port just makes sense. I rented two Canon cinemas lenses with the speed booster and really liked the footage.
Loved the in-depth review guys, splended work as usual I have a question! does the R5C shoot 8k 60fps in normal CLOG3 mode? and if it does, can you use it without external power? thank you as always!!
@@MattAlan01 well ergonomics for starters. I do a lot of handheld work and the c70 is like holding a brick. This looks a lot more comfortable, like something I'd rather carry on a long 10 hour wedding shoot. It has the viewfinder that I love about my a7siii, but also the fans that I love about my fx3. The R5C is full frame, and although I have yet to see how it performs in low light, I'm guessing it will outperform the c70, which leaves much to be desired in that arena. I'm also guessing it's going to have auto focus capabilities more on par with their mirrorless lineup than the c70. The c70 isn't a bad camera by any means but I'm not a big fan of it. I have my sights set on a Sony FX6.
@@MEBoisv appreciate the response. I'm no longer shooting video professionally (used to shoot weddings and some corporate gigs) so I'm definitely a bit out of touch with the gear. I figured the C70 would be closer to an FX3, which is why I asked. That said the R5C does look really neat. If I was still in the game, I definitely would look to pair this with a C70, I think. I previously shot on a C100
Wish Canon would include an XLR top handle like they did with the C100...With the new hotshoe all the wiring could be internal. My fingers are still crossed for a C100 Mk III. That body design is perfect for run N' gun.
Amazing review as always. Only missed the side by side comparison on the latitude tests as you usually do. Anyway it is by far the best review I have seen on the camera until now.
Actually the 29:59 limit is a limit due to import-and-export-regulation. If a device records longer than 30min it is considered a "video" not a "photo" camera and higher import fees are applied. And that is why it became standard. While other vendors implemented this in software (e.g. Sony) Canon has integrate this in hardware, at least in the past and therefore no cheap "workaround" was found so far. To typical film makers the 30min boundary is no real restriction... have you ever seen a movie that contains a single take of 30min? Also analog film roles are limited. However Vloggers and people like me doing live-action-recordings such as shows and theater plays have an issue with that, but if you what I do this professional you will use more than 1 camera typically at least 3. (While I have to say I never encountered a band with a more than 30min track... beside some experimental noise and atmospheric soundscapes.) And a "not so cheap" workaround, which also became standard in professional productions, external recorders like ninja and bmca, are available - but outfiting 5 cameras with basic external recorders is another $10.000 - and operational risks are increased - adding more hardware or software to a use case will reduce the reliability. On the other hand, producing in 8k, even 4k isn´t really worth all of this - at least in my use case. Yes, it gives more freedom in editing due to extended cropping e.g. cheaper/shorter glass but if your output is facebook, youtube or vimeo the bandwidth limits are basically making no difference in visual quality (and I did blind tests with users).
Appreciate the in depth review! One of the let downs was the inability to snap a pic while in video mode, so thanks for pointing that out. Otherwise 8K 60P internally is pretty darn good! Anamorphic options and Tascam audio attachment makes me think this could be the one for me in 2022. 😃
Thanks for the review. Let me correct - 21:24 - 8k60 can to shoot also Blackmagic 12K, and most from Red, not only Raptor, Raptor just can shoot in 8K120, as and Ursa 12K, also in 8K60 nikon Z9 will be capable after a software update this spring.
First week with the camara has been good. Lookforewd to having it in the water with my dive housing that's on the way. One odd thing for me is the Face Detect & Tracking menu is grayed out . I'm on a RF 15-35 2.8 lenes and i have check it with the adaptor and the rest of my EF lenses and its the same thing. I'm guessing its something mega simple but cant work it out . Any thoughts ? Thanks
Great review as always and R5C looks amazing. R5C is a much better video camera than the R5 and really should have been release along side the original camera. Already owning an R5 I'd prefer to see Canon put this sensor and tech into a proper video body. Full frame, cinema batteries, Full HDMI, SDI, Mini XLR, ND's, RF mount and just call it C50. I'm sure the video world would go mad for a camera like that. Canons's full frame video offerings should be R5, R5C, C50 and C500.
Would you pick the R5C over the C70 after the latest firmware update? I shoot both photo and video and trying to decide if i should buy a R5 + C70 or just a R5C… (So go hybrid)
More on the autofocus please. It’s being reported that the autofocus is not dual pixel II in video mode as you say. Apparently the manual states it’s the original dual pixel and my question would be how does it perform compared to a C70 or eos R. This camera looks amazing but in my experience the c70 autofocus was borderline untrustworthy
One important difference, or atleast how dramatic the effect is that all that buy this cam should know, would be that the R5 and R5C doesnt have the same video AF. The AF on the R5c is noticeably more weak than on the R5 on the video side. On the photo side its the same.
An amazing example of a serious dedicated effort to address in the utmost professional detailed level what a prospective buyer of a hybrid FF camera should know. No one could do this better, by all means.
Hey CVP! A bunch of people online are saying that the R5C has an entire extra stop of dynamic range in raw video mode than the R5. I don’t believe any of them are shooting in Clog 3 and raw in camera simultaneously. Could you perhaps compare the raw while in clog 3 to the R5C in raw to dispel this? If their claims are true there’s a big reason for R5 users to sell and upgrade just for dynamic range alone.
They should give a huge discount to R5 owners. I bought the r5 because of the 8k and I can't use it. Even in 4K HQ it overheats, so I only shoot video in normal mode! And when I hear the fan humming on this R5c (2:40), then it's much better to buy an R3 with passive cooling.
how about liveview lag? If I shoot a running stopwatch, what will be the lag? It would also be nice to know what will be the delay if you send data via hdmi. This is useful information for those who want to control focus remotely. Thanks!
How is the DPAF version 1 in the video mode compared to the DPAF II in the R5? It is extremely odd that they cripple that part. Isn't that one of the main reasons you choose a mirrorless/hybrid cinema camera over real cinema cameras?
Great review ! Great footages ! As many, I would be very interested in an in-depth review of the AutoFocus mode in video mode. R5 tracking feature is fantastic in my opinion, it is such a shame if the R5C is weaker.
Thanks so much for the excellent review. Not sure if its youtube or the 14 stops of Clog3 but do you find the blacks a little crushed? Amazing sharpeness and detail. I could be me but couldnt see what resolutions you wre shooting at or what quality of raw you were shooting? Is there any sharpening or denoise in the camera in other than RAW? Assuming raw has none. You guys do love low golden sun. Gorgeous but hard to gauge overall DR which seems to be the question surounding this and a C70. Skies tend to end up blitzed. Lower contrast scenes or cloudy days arent as dramatic but can definitely help show the quality of the image and DR (ala Nomadland?). Outstanding review but would have been great to have AB with a C70 or C300iii and maybe some shots off tripod. Also be great if raw images could be made available to download to test and to see you they playback in NLE. Thanks so much. Always a pleasure.
I have a question about using the power bank to power the R5C via USB. In your tests, did it seem to work really well? The info I’m finding about it is that it does still drain your internal batteries, just a little slower, so I’m wondering if the power bank is able to sustain the camera enough that it is worth it. How was your experience using the power bank to power the camera?
Probably the best R5C review I have come across. Thanks for all the hard work and sharing. One question - How much absence of IBIS, will impact for photography? Will stabilized lenses on R5C produce same photos as that of R5?
Great comparison thank you. 1) How quickly can I switch from stills to video and back again. Couldn't quite tell from the video. I like to switch quickly between the two disciplines when shooting sports ( In stills mode, I hit the red record button to instantly enable the C3 video settings, flip down a variable ND for the video and flip it out of the way for stills ) My R5 only because it overheated several times this summer shooting games on hot days in 4k. Argh! Also I shoot handheld, and without IBIS in the R5C, I worry the the footage would suffer from instability. Why are your views?
Thanks Steven! We actually show off how fast the switch is now thanks to the R5C's newest update here - th-cam.com/video/FIY4_JyPZXk/w-d-xo.html its very quick, roughly 2-3 seconds now! The lack of IBIS may be noticeable but you can get good results when using lens IS and digital IS in camera! Jake
Thank you Jake and @@CVPTV ! glad to see faster switching. I have recently read the R5C records at much lower bitrates than the R5. Would you agree? Could require less computing power, thereby allowing us to budget less for image processing and more for image capture
is there any chance that you guys would test the video capabilities of Nikon Z9? 8K internal N-Log, and possibly N-Raw if using external recorder, and the S lenses, which have minimal focus breathing
Can anyone explain what is going on with the test footage between 17:19 - 17:25? The tree in the background is flashing in a weird way... why is that? I noticed similar isues on my R5 and I thought it was caused by IBIS
Great video. I shoot photos with a 7d and I shoot 4k video with an XF405. I hate not have the option to use my EF lenses but other than that its an awsome video camera. The only thing ive heard is that the C70 is abit soft on focus. Is the readly evident or do you really have to zoom in to see it? Ive also heard that in the R5C the auto focus isn't the same in video as it is in photo? Inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks
Great in-depth review! I would definately like to see more on auto-focus in video mode, as I'm concerned about the loss of Touch and Drag, animal eye and object tracking. Thanks.
Great review guys, much appreciated 👍 Would you recommend paying a bit more for a Z9 which offers similar specs to the r5c, but isn't crippled by poor battery performance and mini hdmi, and also adds ibis?
Might be a silly question, but can you confirm if C-Log 3 LUTs for the R5 will be identical for the R5 C? I got my R5 C yesterday and love it already :)
This video has me so damn excited for more r5c stock to roll in! Amazing work, appreciate all the time and detail that went into this. Phenomenal video!
CVP in my own opinion I think this Canon's answer to all Sony Unlimited recording camera's aswell as Canon's answer to the following camera's Panasonic S1, Panasonic S1H, Nikon Z9, Nikon Z62, Fuji XT3 and Fuji XT4. P.S does this new Canon R5C have unlimited recording internally in both 8 bit and 10 bit 4K and 1080HD

How long did you waited? Must be a long time waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting.
Same. Same. Same. 🙌
This is the hybrid camera I've been waiting for! I need the 45MP and the video capabilities. Sure its not for 100% videographers or photographers but most of my clients need both and now I can cater to that market.
The footage you guys shot looks stunning!
The R5C video quality was beautiful. It looks like real life
Full-Size HDMI was a must. They could have added $200 to the price and nobody would have said anything.
im asuuiming was the size that was he issue, not the price. although I would have liked it to be slightly wider for it to be there
I'd imagine it's because they didn't want to redesign the PCB inside the camera which changing the HDMI may have caused.
How do you manage the noise ? Starting at 800 iso the video is noisy :(
@@jijic.7204 The R5c is noisey?
@@creativegreats6924 Yes, when you go up the ISO, there is very quickly some noise on the low lights. My 1DX MK II is much more efficient in noise control when I raise the ISO

First and foremost, let me just say fantastic job bringing this detail-filled review to us as quickly as you have one of the most information-packed videos on the Canon EOS R5C to date.
Secondly, after watching your video along with hearing what Gordon Lang has to say about this new release, I have returned my Canon EOS R5 and now eagerly await the availability of the EOS R5C
Thank you once again for doing a fantastic job from your friendly neighborhood photographer in Orlando FL Michael Allen Seaquist
CVP is without a doubt the best professional channel on TH-cam
Thanks Guys
Great Job Again
Would be great to see a R3 video review aswell! Great job!
Yes an in depth autofocus video would be great! Thanks again for the fantastic content! super helpful
It's funny how internal ND is the major benefit being artificially held back for dedicated video cameras now. If the R5C had IBIS it would have been a genuine all round delight - but not having it kinda kills the photo camera side for me. Anyway, what excites me more is how Sony will have to respond to this.
Hands down the best video around. So much detail thst is useful.
THX! Best review of the R5C ! A lot of professional informations !
Or a Ninja V.
Literally the most thorough review I’ve ever seen answered every question I had.
Thanks for watching! Jake
Thanks for this detailed review! The best one I have seen today 👍
Panasonic s1h seems to be the better option with full hdmi, ibis ,6k ,6k raw 60fps with atomos , fans , Netflix approved , amazing image , tech to deal with flicker . Cheaper. The full hdmi on r5c would have been worth the extra cost to almost anyone. very disappointed .
i agree
Panasonic was ahead of its time with the S1H. Let's see if they release an S1H Mark II
@@dsdddsd4543we S1H lacks two major thing - usable AF and internal RAW recording. If you don't need it - it is a solid choice.

It's weird how camera companies are leaning into the whole "dual native ISO" now when they technically have been doing it for years
When I first got my a7s mark 1 I noticed a "noise bug" when changing iso and looking at false color on an external monitor
I took it to nab and they couldn't explain it, they took me around to a bunch of engineers, even the guy who designed the sensor
Years later people complained about a "noise bug" on the A7sII
Turns out it wasn't a bug, it was dual native ISO...
I tested it out and can confirm it works on the A7s, a7sii a7rii, a6100, a6400
All of the alpha cameras have dual native ISO..always have
You provided as usually the best and most comprehensive review! Thank you!
Any camera I'm intrigued by, I make sure to watch the CVP video. You guys do awesome work - thank you for the effort!
Thanks for the kind words and for watching! Jake
@@CVPTV I’ve heard people state that AF and/or digital IS is not possible even in 24/30p in 8K RAW unless external power is connected. Is this correct?
@@TheGlassEyeTV We shot in 25p and had AF in 8K RAW, not sure about 24 or 30. I will ask Canon, what are you sources?

Thank you for your job and this kinda content mate.
You're really good at it.
Fantastic in depth information as usual! 💚
Hey Jonathan, I will certainly add it to my list! Thanks for watching, Jake
Can you map different framerates/shutter speeds to the mode dial like you can with the R5. ie) C1 = 24fps, C2 = 60fps etc...
Thank you guys! It was a huge amount of tests and works and footage are so beautiful!!!
If you have lenses with IS, this is not that big of a deal.
Loved the in-depth review guys, splended work as usual
I have a question! does the R5C shoot 8k 60fps in normal CLOG3 mode? and if it does, can you use it without external power?
thank you as always!!
When doing a tacking shot and hand holding the R5C does its enhanced digitial stabilization work as well as the R5's IBIS?
Despite from everything shown, I'm just amazed how much better the C500MKII image still looks in the comparison.
Anybody knows how does this camera works in hot. for example in tropical environment?
Also; have you been able to do more tests with the AF system?
Any firmware-update coming to integrate the R5’s system?
Just off topic: have you tried livestreaming with the original R5? What pp settings would you use in this case, thanks
Beautiful footage. What ND filter did you use on this footage? Can you leave a link.
Very nice. I like this a lot more than the C70, even without internal ND. I'm not about to sell my FX3 but bravo Canon. Nice job.
As an FX3 user, what do you think makes you like this better than the c70?
Wondering how the manual white balance works. Can you take a picture of a grey card while in video mode to set an manual white balance?
Will you be doing a How To Upgrade for the Canon R5C in the future?
the Canon WIDE DR is pretty awesome.... where can i download that Lut?
The R5c footage is so... cream! So good! If i didn't have the R5, i would have probably gotten the R5c!
Hi CVP team. Love your works. It would be great if you have a video show us how to correct exposure in CLOG 3?
Wish Canon would include an XLR top handle like they did with the C100...With the new hotshoe all the wiring could be internal. My fingers are still crossed for a C100 Mk III. That body design is perfect for run N' gun.
Amazing review as always. Only missed the side by side comparison on the latitude tests as you usually do. Anyway it is by far the best review I have seen on the camera until now.
@38:45 more and more people are coming out saying the AF for video is Dual Pixel AF 1 (Same as c70), vs the R5's Dual Pixel II. Can you confirm?
How about using EF lenses? I have a plethora of US/L Glass that are EF mount. I have the adaptor, but I’d like to hear from the experts .
Will Canon make samples available to download? Would like to test out the codecs with the new M1 Max chip.
Thanks for the great first review! Would you know how the manual White balance works for video? Same as R5, where one needs to take a still image?

100% agree that their should be some help for video shooters who bought into the R5 who want to upgrade! Jake
how about liveview lag? If I shoot a running stopwatch, what will be the lag? It would also be nice to know what will be the delay if you send data via hdmi. This is useful information for those who want to control focus remotely. Thanks!
How is the DPAF version 1 in the video mode compared to the DPAF II in the R5? It is extremely odd that they cripple that part. Isn't that one of the main reasons you choose a mirrorless/hybrid cinema camera over real cinema cameras?
14:21 would be nice to see a version of this with in body but also an 1800p option for laptops.

R5 tracking feature is fantastic in my opinion, it is such a shame if the R5C is weaker.
Same. I need to see the video autofocus in depth. It's the main problem with the C70, so if the R5c isn't A LOT better, it's a problem.

Jake
@@CVPTV Thank you I just reviewed your excellent update. I appreciate being notified of the changes.
And has (will have ) 8k 60 raw internally
Can anyone explain what is going on with the test footage between 17:19 - 17:25? The tree in the background is flashing in a weird way... why is that? I noticed similar isues on my R5 and I thought it was caused by IBIS

@@CVPTV my bad, I checked it on different screens and it's all good. Looks like my PC or my 4k screen is the problem. Thanks.
Thanks

great video! very good explanation. I have the first smallrig cage for the Canon r5, do you think it will fit the R5C?
It should, but I would suggest trying it before you commit to any kind of purchase! Jake
