Great review. We appreciate you putting us up against the giant of the industry and giving it a fair shake. Keep the positive vibes rolling, you've got a great channel. Tight lines!
Great to see newcomers to the industry making waves. I'm a big fan of both 13 fishing and shimano. Before watching this, Shimano would probably be my mainstay. After watching, I think I'd want one of these Z's in the line up for those bank robber days where the fish always seem to be 2-6' out of range. Keep coming out with musky stuff!
13Fishing I’ve purchased the concert kp, E, and A. I wasn’t happy with any of them. I don’t care about cost, I just want the best. I took all 13 fishing reels off my rods. Shimano aldebaran is top of the line. It is also the lightest reel only weighing 4.7 ounces
Don't quote me on this but I think they built the concept z with the salt water fisherman in mind. If you wanna do another review in the concept A vs the curado k, I'd definitely be interested in watching that too. If I were reviewing the 2 of these I would probably go with when I would use one over the other for certain situations. If I were red fishing id probably aim for the Z. If I'm freshing water fishing in heavy cover for huge largemouth is probably aim for the K. Either way they both have their strong points and I wouldn't let the $25 difference be a factor. Good review Alex, you hit the nail on the head.
John Bolton you are correct they originally designed the Z for saltwater. I think both are quality products it’s just all opinion what you want. I myself have had a lot of Shimanos and they’ve never failed on me so I went the tried and true Curado! Thanks for watching man!
Idk i bring my curado 200i inshore fishing all the time. Haven't had any issues with the salt. I do rinse it out with freshwater after each salt trip though.
Good review! All things said and done I still think the curado k is the king of the hill. I think the quality and durability are a lot better on the curado
The reason the curado won at icast is because it will last so much longer and it is just better all around. That’s why I would rather have a shimano in my hands
BassSniperTV because it’s a shimano. They are the longest last reels these days because they use high quality Components on like other companies who use plastic and other materials like that
I have had the opportunity to handle both of these reels and the build quality , feel of the reels in my hand... Their is no comparison, the curado k from the body all they way to the feel of turning the handle felt better than the Z. Plus I just bought the curado k for 139.99 new on eBay a 60+ I can use to refill my tackle bag.
The 13 fishing concept Z is a cool reel, but compared to the Curado K, in my opinion it doesn't stand a chance. The feel of the curado k is far superior. The handle is far more stout, and two bearings support the handle shaft. The concept z is priced so high due to hype..
I agree I have them both and returned the concept Z the next day! It was very crappie reel! The spool jumping up and down! When we was out on the water I couldn’t get off the water fast enough to return the piece of junk!
I would like to remove some of the variables.. rod, lure, etc.. see if the results change. Great video though! I just got a smoke reel.. similar price point. Would like to see how it stacks up.
Alex Rudd Fishing I'm guessing that you could crowd source with your subs and gather almost every reel made. I'm down for loaning a few. I also have a 300 ft measuring tape.
Just got mine yesterday, casted out over and over and over the z is game changing, never fished a reel that feels the way it does! I have a feeling every reel in the near future will mimic this reel... sad because I love my zillion and steez but I this reel is sick
I think 13 fishing has something cool here but I highly doubt any other reel company will mimic this. I think this is 13 fishings thing and other major brands will keep making reels they make reels using bearings instead of bushings.
Alex, this is gonna sound like my inner Shimano fanboy coming out, but I really feel like you had the K handcuffed with 3 internal brakes engaged. Is that really the way you fish it? I have mine with 2 on / 2 off internal, and the external adjustment usually between 2 - 4, using 16lb Sunline Sniper. It is very well behaved, very rarely does the spool get away from me.
I just got my 7.3:1 lefty last Thursday. preordered that sucker when it dropped. got the A. C. Inception. Creed GT and now Z. I am not biased though. I love shimano too. only two companies I buy reels from. Sweet Vid man. ultimate topic this year!
were you both using the same rod length and tapper? Regardless, I'm not sold on the concept (no pun intended) of self lubricating "bushings" in the Z, I could see it as a niche reel for brackish water.
TheMaverick I was using a 7'6 MH fast action. Eric a 7'3 MH fast action. Mine though is a G-Rod which has Graphene causing it to have a super high module and snappier responce than other rods. I agree though the Z is going to have to prove itself.
I think where the Concept Z would really shine is for us Bass fishermen who live near enough to the sea to do a little saltwater fishing on the side. I own 5 high end bait casters but will probably pick up a Concept Z for when I want to hit the intercoastal or the beach.
But if you have a 3 inch longer rod I would expect the reel to cast a little bit further, or am I thinking wrong in the physics aspect of the comparison?
Alex, the old Greenies 200E7's E5's and 200I's are bringing $150- $190 on eBay in excellent condition Curado, on up hold their value really well, and even the ones that show rash and a ton of use and bringing $90.-$110. I am on eBay auctions every week watching, and buying . FYI. Will
My dad had 15 Curado 200e reels that he sold on ebay some time last year. He now has 15 curado K's! I loved those 200e reels though! I have three chronarch 200e reels that I will never ever part with lol
Awesome vid! I can't tell ya how many times i've said 90% of the reel out there will cast within 10% of one another. That graininess is the aluminum gear. You don't feel it as much with braid probably because the braid dulls the feel since you feel the braid instead. The Curado though is a tank. Micro module gearing is snake oil though. It's not why it's more powerful. It's the handle size and gear ratio combined with the dual bearing supported pinion and handle shaft. Smaller teeth don't make a difference in smoothness or power. Other wise a van stall would be smoother than a stella, and every time you hit the gas on your car you'd feel grinding. :)
Tackle Advisors thanks for the info man! This is good stuff. I don’t know a ton of info about the mechanics of reels. I knew there would be some one who knew more about it than I do show up in the comments. Thanks for be respectful and explaining it!
Smaller teeth in a nice helical cut make a gear set stronger(to a point). Lots of frame strength is required to keep the backlash in spec between the ring and pinion in a fine tooth scenario. Smoothness in a gear set, from what I understand, is a product of how the gearing itself is cut and the level of finish on the gear teeth themselves. Thats how it is with transmissions and axles, I cant imagine a reel would be much different.
The dual bearing supported pinion and handle shaft is what makes it smoother. Gear teeth don't slam in and out of each other. They roll in and out. I've had tons of micro module and non micro module reels and can say I don't feel any difference whatsoever due to gear tooth size. From stellas to Antares. The alu geared steez is as smooth a cranker as the all brass micro module in the antares. They look cool. I like them as they are seemingly easier to grease.
I was watching your bed fishing vid from last year and I saw that you were talking about a small swimbait.... I use a eco pro tungsten 4.8 inch swing shad I believe is what it is called and I can't find a shaky head to fit them.... Would a wobble head work ..... And I have a concept z in my tackle warehouse cart right now
I have the K and have been really wanting to get the Z. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the Z so I’m probably going to pass on it until the kinks are worked out. May end up getting a Metanimum DC instead 💀😂.. awesome video dude!
YakPak Outdoors tell if you find a good interest rate when you refinance your house to get that DC lol but yeah honestly the Z is going to have to prove itself more before I pull the trigger. In my hands it just feels weak.
Just watched and want to say thank you for doing a great review on both! This just made my decision a little harder on which reel I should get. Like I said great job and thank you and you just got another subscriber!!! Tight lines!!!
The K you had set at 3 internal but you had it on 3 external which brings the internal brake race closer to the brake shoes inside causing more friction, so the brakes weren't really set the same. Had you had the external dial at 0 then it would've been a little more accurate casting.distance wise.
hey Alex love your videos I have a question for you I just got the Shimano Curado K I am going to be using it on my 7'4 heavy fishing rod for frog can you tell me how you would set the breaks for that thanks man keep the good videos coming
So my go to when setting up a new reel is to go 6 on the external breaks. Set the spool tension to where the bait falls and can hit the ground with out back lashing. Then make micro adjustments from there.
@@moc1969 I usually will play it with to see which performs best. I'll start with one off make a free cast take two off and just repeat until I got what I feel best with. I know thats around about way of saying just mess with it but that's really what it takes lol.
I have a couple of the concept c and love them. I passed on the concept z because the color is childish IMO. I instead picked up two if the new curados and love them. Great comparison video!
I’m not sponsored by any reel company. I’ve used all different ones and honestly I don’t get the 13 fishing (concept z) hype. To me far and away the 2 best reels on the market are Shimano and Lews. I also like Quantum as well. But Shimano and Lews are the real rivalry in the fishing industry. I think the Curados are the smoothest but i like the drag on the Lews better. Great review!
This video came out right on time just purchased a high end rod MH 7,3 was looking at lews crush reel but if you could recommend K over that let me know
I have a few Lew's reels...the LFS, Mach-1, and Tournament Lite (the one prior to the G model). I also have the Curado-I. The Mach-1 and the Crush have identical 4-pin breaking systems and magnets. My Tournament Lite has a breaking system more similar to the Curado. My Mach-1 is a great caster, but it doesn't cast as far as the Tournament Lite, and the Curado-I can outcast them both. The Lew's are easier to adjust and seem a little more forgiving, and they also have a few extra pounds of drag over the Curado-I and K, but the new K definitely feels like the tighter and higher quality reel. I'd suggest the K over the Crush, especially if you can find deals or use Cabela's points to get one for free.
great review...i get u abt the grainy feel but for me its still there even with braid and it bothered me a bit. not so much but yes it bothered me a little. yup power is absolutely true. nice to watch your review man. can i throw in a question...can u try the polymer bushing in a daiwa or shimano vs the same reel with bearing.
Lim Mun Chew if I’m not mistaken the guys from 13 Fishing said that they are eventually going to make kits so you can put polymer bushings in about any reel.
Alex Rudd Fishing yes they are cars. Both all wheel drive 4 cylinder turbo 4 door cars. It's a huge rival between them. That's why I was asking g if this was a similar thing.
In your video about your wishlist of stuff to get to help you film a drone would of been really cool to have here, and get the aerial shots of the lures hitting the water. It was still a sweet video like always tho, keep it up man!
You should put a big crankbait like a 10XD on them to see how those higher ratio reels handle the torque. I know their not ratios for big cranks but it would give a good comparison of each other on their power for wenching in a big bass in heavy cover
James Barron I caught a frog fish with one of my curados on my 7'3 H Pro Bass it brought her right out. The K just feels more powerful than the Z in my hand.
River Rat the lbs of drag on a reel don’t translate to lbs on the object your pulling. It’s lbs of pressure a fish can exert or your equipment in the hook set can exert. So if you have both of these reels at max drag your going to be hard pressed to slip the drag on either one setting the hook on a fish.
I have the z it's ok BUT if it gets wet you have to open it up and dry that Plastic bearings out That is the biggest complaint I have it's a $100 reel not a $199 reel
I have both reels, I have had the curado k for months and I love it. I can bomb boats out there farther then any other one of my reels. I got my Z 2 days ago and I can’t seem to cast like my other reels (even the cheaper ones). I’ve fooled with the breaks and still can’t figure it out. Anybody have any tips?
Curado K comes is offered in a 6.2, 7.4 and an 8.5 and does NOT have magnetic braking systems. They use centrifugal braking that won’t wear out over time like a magnet.
I got myself the Curado K 201HG a month ago. Looking forward to what the video turns out to be. Im writing this at beginning of video obviously haha. Good idea to compare both.
I have held and felt the Curado and was impressed with how smooth it was and the weight plus I liked the big handle and spool size but I wanted to get my hands a Concept Z also be use of all the hype and sounds like they are both good dang might have to get both of thrm
Both jigs weighed the same and the fact that I was using a different trailer has minimal difference in its aerodynamic ability and weight it cant even be considered. Thanks for watching!
I am a Diawa man myself. What is your opinion on them? I know everyone has their own likes and dislikes but I like to hear opinions of other reels and rods.
Fishing with Thad I have a Fuego and two tatulas. They are all amazing reels. One of my tatulas is on my flipping stick and I've never had a issue getting one to the boat.
I have a tatula 100 hl thats most notably caught 3 king salmon 20-25lbs this pass october and drag was great, crankin power was a non issue and can it cast. Throwing a 3/4 oz kastmaster or moonshine spoon on a 7'6 H rod cast as far guys with 8-9 ft spiining rods. Most useful hundred bucks I've ever spent. I think about trying a curado just because of the hype, but I see no reason to stick my wallet out. Not convinced it would be an upgrade.
Alex, I have watched 6 different comparisons with the Z and K , and there is simply not enough difference to take me out of Shimano family, and I don't believe I would ever adapt to that color.😂😂😂😂😂 that being said I've never used any Concept reels, and really don't have any reason to.....🎣🤔😂. Thanks for making this video, TightLines, Will
Awesome video, should tune them both individually. I have many many reels and I can’t set them all on setting 3 and make a fair video I can absolutely turn my Curados down a lot further than my lews, quantum’s, or abu Garcia’s and have less chances of backlash because they are imo just better built. I also would not purchase a reel based off of how much farther one would cast over the other, it’s really hard to beat a company with so many years for producing stellar gear even with the fantastic gear that 13 is producing. If you are new to casting set ups do yourself a favor and take as little chances as possible and go with a brand that has a the kind of foundation that shimano has then save testing for when you are more experienced. I will be purchasing a few 13 reels to test as I’ve only used one to date but to each his own and above all keep fishing and keep safe. God bless!
Sometimes i think about the price, but is worth it to spend the money, i bought 2 Curados Bantam 25 years ago, and i still use them. Great review Alex, let me suscribe... :)
I personally dislike my 13 fishing origin lte I feel like they put more into the 8:1:1 gear ratio instead of making a good overall reel it gets the job done but the casting distance is hell
Wow, exactly the review I was looking for. It seems to be both reels have different strengths in which it depends on what type of reel you are looking for. The Concept Z has more distance and smoothness, but the Curado K has strong strength and is built like a horse. Great review though.
I would EASILY take a 5-10ft casting loss to have the advantages of: Dual pinion support, dual bearing main gear support, solid build, proven anti-reverse, $20 cheaper price, finer braking adjustments, better handle, etc. It's not even close, if you don't believe me go out and give em both a try, will see you in a couple months on facebook yard sale. Also even if the Shimano exploded they would make it right. Personally I'd take a Tatula SV for even better control (lose another 10ft).
I’ve fished ALOT of different brand reals. None of them last as long as Shimano. I have 3 that I still fish with constantly and have owned for over 10 years. That’s a huge selling point to me because I work for a living, and have 3 kids. I can’t go drop $200 on the new Gucci real that’s comes out every two years. Great video but I am going to stick with what I know.
I prefer the non-precise style you guys did it. I don't care about numbers when fishing, I care about the "eye test" so to say, how it feels and everything. In spite of the findings in this vid, I'm still a Shimano fan and would take a Curado all day every day.
Bob Hammond glad you enjoyed it! Thought a common sense look at the reels was better than talking numbers. Yeah a few extras feet of casting distance doesn’t bear the reliability I know Shimano has.
That was like the Ali and Frazier of reel comparisons. In some other comparisons with those two, the Curado will outcast the Concept Z, but in those they are on the same rods, and the Curado will maintain cast control even when the centrifugal brake is set to "1", which is where I have my Curado set. Of course depending on lure weight and wind conditions. My spool tension is about the same as yours, and fine tuned with the side thumb wheel. As you can tell, I rooting for the Curado K200.
According to the information coming directly from Shimano's web site, the Curado K200 is rated for fresh and salt water. I also remember hearing that from some of the TH-cam reviews.
Your curado rod is 3" longer, it should be out casting the z if they were comparable. Longer rod should be longer cast. I love my concept c, it is a better experience overall than my curado. I'll be picking up a z. Thanks for not just being a shimano fanboy. I like the shimano curado, diawa zillion, and 13 fishing reels that I have. I'm most impressed with the concept c. Definitely it's personal preference. Subbing.
Lilly Munster it was actually a G-Rod Pro Bass! Thanks for tuning in. I have no affiliation with either brand so there isn’t going to be bias. Thanks for subbing as well!
Yeah I agree. Same rod, same line and same jig. Only way to really do am accurate comparison. Also, were your internal brakes on at all? If it's internal on and also your external on that could change things up also.
Personally I would like to put a curado k on a curado and put a z on a muse. Those curado rods feel on point for the price. The blanks are thick but they're light. Haven't held any muse but I'm sire they're good as well.
Alex Rudd Fishing would love to try. It would take me awhile to save up for that one. Those rods are sick though. If I had it my way I'd buy a full line of multiple tip end rods and pick out the best for me. Hopefully I'll hit that mega mill!!....lol
Nick Cavazos thats how Gleen built the G-Rods. He took his favorite high end JDM rods and took all the things he liked a built rods. I understand though man. They are high end on the price range. I'm very blessed to be working with them.
Alex Rudd Fishing heck yea, I can tell the quality just what I've seen online. I have my basis covered with the 150-200 rods now so I'm gunna start saving up and getting high stuff from here on out.
The Curado just has better quality overall. The Micro Module Gears are legit, it is precise with a smoothness that the Concept Z can't match. Also, the Curado has way more power or torque than the Concept Z. I understand the Concept Z doesn't have a 6.6:1 with the left handed cranked model, but I can tell you now even if it did it still wouldn't have been able to match the power of the Curado K. How do I know? Because I have a 13 reel in the 6.6:1 ratio and frankly it is somewhat weak on the crank. I had a Biwaa Divinator in 35g on it once and it felt strained on the retrieve as compared to the Curado K.
Buying the kits for the A or C so you don’t have to buy a $200 reel lol. Might as well buy the Z since the A is $175 and C is $230. Lol not criticizing though, love me some 13 gear
Nice video i bought both reels and like them both i gave the concept z to my cousin since it was his bday and hes been wanting one since he heard of them ill miss it haha
hell I want both of them
lojo.fishing haha that's what I'm saying

Nice to see a casting test like this despite the inconsistent variables involved.
zen bassr thanks man! I think this is a great common sense look at the reels.
Appreciate your fair review without having to trash anyone. So tired of others having to run whatever they don't use down. Keep making videos!
Thanks man! That was the point just a common sense look at the reels. I'm not about bad mouthing any brand.
That was a lot of fun to do! Definitely need to do a chapter 2 with these two reels after I’ve got more time with the Z. Awesome video man! 👊
TNBassin' I think so to man! Will go put em to the reel test with some frog fishing!

George M. I agree. A few feet extra distance isn't enough to make the Concept Z win over the Shimano.
How could you possibly know something mechanical will out last something else that's also mechanical?
BassSniperTV because it’s a shimano. They are the longest last reels these days because they use high quality Components on like other companies who use plastic and other materials like that
That Shimono is not going to make it in Salt water, as the Z was designed to do.
BassSniperTV yeah. No shit. It wasn’t made for it. It was made for freshwater. They do not claim anywhere that they are for Salt and fresh.
I have had the opportunity to handle both of these reels and the build quality , feel of the reels in my hand... Is the curado corrosion resistant? Does anyone know?
elisha davis the Chronarch G is salt water approved
You should do more of these
I have both these reels. They each have their place and I absolutely love both of them.
Yes please! Been wanting to know your opinion on both these reels

Thanks for the tip on the kits you can get for other 13 Fishing reels. Definitely snagging one for my A3!

Sherman Glover well power, parabolics, and deflection all come into play as well.
Funny u did a video on that. I have been interested in both reels and even asked TJ to do a video on concept z. Thanks for the video
I have 2 curado K's and NEVER noticed a grainyness upon retrieve.

Gear in the Curado is brass. Micro Module feels smoother on the retrieve, so that part is not snake oil. Any other claims, I’m sure it is.
And I have a concept z in my tackle warehouse cart right now
Beast Coast rugby head has a 6/0 hook for reference. You might want to try a Nichols shaky head they come with a 4/0 hook.
Good video. How about them vols
Just watched and want to say thank you for doing a great review on both! This just made my decision a little harder on which reel I should get. Like I said great job and thank you and you just got another subscriber!!! Tight lines!!!
No thank you for supporting the channel!!
I’ve seen videos on the concept Z reels is your loud or silent I have seen both was just wondering on your opinion is it that quiet
Larry Doner it's really quiet
I got 2 Concept Zs and a Concept Z SLD, I love em
This is the only vid Ive seen the Z out casting the K all the other vids test have the K out casting the Z. Just saying.
ddm62571 depends on how you set it up
ddm62571 to me it looks like he is casting the Z a lot hard then the K
@@AlexRuddFishing thanks what about the inside break
@@moc1969 I usually will play it with to see which performs best. I'll start with one off make a free cast take two off and just repeat until I got what I feel best with. I know thats around about way of saying just mess with it but that's really what it takes lol.
@@AlexRuddFishing thanks
Awesome video man, I want to check both those reels out
I have a couple of the concept c and love them. I passed on the concept z because the color is childish IMO. I instead picked up two if the new curados and love them. Great comparison video!
JaxBaron glad your loving en man! I'm in love with mine as well.
You can get the bearing for the c to make them like an x
Corrosive Cookie thats what I heard. I will prob convert one of my reels, to see what the new “bearing/bushings” are all about.
I'd suggest the K over the Crush, especially if you can find deals or use Cabela's points to get one for free.
common sense thanks for the input man! I’ve not used one myself.
Common sense thanks very helpful.
hello, if this reel has anough power to work with 130mm minow type lures for twiching?
Which one? There were two reels in this video.
@@AlexRuddFishingcurado k
@@ErnestasTocionis I'm sure it could handle it. You might want to get something with a little more line capacity so you can use bigger line.
great review...i get u abt the grainy feel but for me its still there even with braid and it bothered me a bit. not so much but yes it bothered me a little. yup power is absolutely true. nice to watch your review man. can i throw in a question...can u try the polymer bushing in a daiwa or shimano vs the same reel with bearing.
Lim Mun Chew if I’m not mistaken the guys from 13 Fishing said that they are eventually going to make kits so you can put polymer bushings in about any reel.
So comparing these reels is equivalent to an Evo and Sti?
I'm assuming those are cars? I'm not sure honestly. I don't know anything about cars lol.
It was still a sweet video like always tho, keep it up man!
jrincon1424 I thought about but I was actually to close to a government facility to fly it. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it.
Was the spool control knob set on the Z looser than the K?
Cedric Yuen no they were about the same.
What about 13 vs abu?
You should do a video on the lews custom pro ti speed spool
I will as soon as I get it! I placed my order for it this week.
I’m dang sure the curado k or any other curado has any magnetic braking at all .
You should put a big crankbait like a 10XD on them to see how those higher ratio reels handle the torque. I know their not ratios for big cranks but it would give a good comparison of each other on their power for wenching in a big bass in heavy cover
James Barron I throw a Zboss25 on a 7.5
They’ll handle a 10
James Barron I caught a frog fish with one of my curados on my 7'3 H Pro Bass it brought her right out.
I have the z it's ok BUT if it gets wet you have to open it up and dry that Plastic bearings out That is the biggest complaint I have it's a $100 reel not a $199 reel
the z got the edge on distance but the k on the price.. thats a tough one to chose from great video man!
I have both reels, I have had the curado k for months and I love it. I can bomb boats out there farther then any other one of my reels. I got my Z 2 days ago and I can’t seem to cast like my other reels (even the cheaper ones). I’ve fooled with the breaks and still can’t figure it out. Anybody have any tips?
the z needs to break in, about 5 trips of fishing and you’ll be good
Curado K comes is offered in a 6.2, 7.4 and an 8.5 and does NOT have magnetic braking systems. They use centrifugal braking that won’t wear out over time like a magnet.
Ahhh didn't know they made one in a 6:2. Yes your correct. I said magnetic out of habit. Thanks for watching!
Alex Rudd Fishing no problem man like your stuff! Just wanted to throw it out there. Keep it up
I'll keep this in mind next time I get ready to buy a baitcaster.
Thanks for the review!
What a cool reel! Love the video!
It also comes in a 6.2 ratio. Also, it’s a Centrifugal breaking system, not magnetic.
Yes your right! I said magnetic out of habit.
If you are going to do a side by side casting contest, reel to reel, you need to use the exact same rod, line and lure to get accurate information.
Any idea when they'll open carbide back up?
Zach F it was open this morning.
Alex Rudd Fishing thanks!
Should i return my z and get a curado k? Its $100 cheaper..
KVN your money your reel man. I would shop around. Look at the Lew's BB1 Pro it's a power house.
Alex Rudd Fishing. I just return it.
Looks like the bait on your rod is lighter also the twin curl tail slowed it down faster you should do test with same baits
Both jigs weighed the same and the fact that I was using a different trailer has minimal difference in its aerodynamic ability and weight it cant even be considered. Thanks for watching!
Why not compare using the same line, same lure and same rod?
Jason Cyr we used the same line and bait. The rods both had very similar deflections.
Alex Rudd Fishing what model tatula is on your flipping stick?
Pete Mortimer 100 HS
I have a tatula 100 hl thats most notably caught 3 king salmon 20-25lbs this pass october and drag was great, crankin power was a non issue and can it cast. Throwing a 3/4 oz kastmaster or moonshine spoon on a 7'6 H rod cast as far guys with 8-9 ft spiining rods. Most useful hundred bucks I've ever spent. I think about trying a curado just because of the hype, but I see no reason to stick my wallet out. Not convinced it would be an upgrade.
Dang Eric Romines you know Rudd? You are my hero now. Rudd you still are number one in my book tho
Should have swap rods and reels setup. Rods can be a variable in casting.
The polymer bearings will be 11.99 each on the trickshop for 13 fishing (not $30)
Thanks for clearing that up!
No problem, man!
So you will be able to purchase the polymer bearing by its self? Last I heard it’ll only be available as a kit @ around $30 +/-
TNBassin' yes i heard it from 13 fishing
Kentuckiana Outdoors ahh cool, even better. Cheaper “upgrade”
Thanks for making this video, TightLines, Will
William Perryman I would have to agree man! I am a Lews and Shimano man from way back. My very first reel was a hammy down Curado E.
bout time you got back in the game , the hell you been boy?
17APR69 16APR71 I put out a 4 videos the last two weeks lol. I took a week off after Christmas for vacation though.
Awesome comparison man!
Chris King Outdoors thanks man!
Thanks for the support man!
Reeling a different reel with your LEFT hand would not make it seem as strong, just because of that factor alone.
Daniel Dean your dead on.
I have all 3 reels, the SV is a world it's own, but I would take the Z over the Curado K.
CodeRedPb you sort have proven his theory. You still prefer a bearing reel over the bushed reel. Lol
Well I don't have many baitcasters but the Shakespeare agility is probably the best reel I've ever used and it's not very expensive
The Top Water King I’ve never used one. Glad it’s working out for you though.
I own the Shimano Chronarch, Shimano Curado 70, 2017 Shimano Scorpion DC, And now the Curado K life is good. #Shimanofishing
Russell Anderson but can you fish Salt water with it?
Russell Anderson yeah 2-3 isn’t a huge amount of difference either. I’m still siding with my Curados as well! Thanks for watching buddy.
According to the information coming directly from Shimano's web site, the Curado K200 is rated for fresh and salt water. I also remember hearing that from some of the TH-cam reviews.
BassSniperTV really any reel can be used in salt water it's just a function of maintenancing and cleaning it properly.
I totally agree, but having shielded and stainless steel bearings is always a plus.
GREAT VIDEO GUYS. IT IS ABOUT TIME YOU TWO DO A VIDEO TOGETHER. HAHA....
Great Video Alex. I love the curados.
Jim Womack me to man! My first real bait caster was a hammy down Curado E!
Will buy two more shortly
You should do it on the same rod with the same line and jig so it's a better comparison
lacrossplaier55 we may do a follow up video.
Yeah I agree. Same rod, same line and same jig. Only way to really do am accurate comparison. Also, were your internal brakes on at all? If it's internal on and also your external on that could change things up also.
The K looks like a good fishing reel worth a bit more than what its sold for. The Z looks like a reel from aliexpress sold for $39.99.
Great review 👍 Can’t wait to try out my new 9:1 Revo. Just need some open water 😃
MisterTwister thanks man!
Personally I would like to put a curado k on a curado and put a z on a muse. Those curado rods feel on point for the price. The blanks are thick but they're light. Haven't held any muse but I'm sire they're good as well.
The Curado rod is nicely balanced. The muse is really light. Nether hold a candle to my pro bass though. Thanks for watching man.
Nick Cavazos I always go by the rule of thumb the more technique specific the more you should spend.
Alex Fu I agree man. The curado is just so powerful. I never feel like I need more reel.
Buying the kits for the A or C so you don’t have to buy a $200 reel lol. Might as well buy the Z since the A is $175 and C is $230. Lol not criticizing though, love me some 13 gear
I have regular 100 dollars fishing 13 that reels casting distance is excellent for Christmas iam to get a concept z
Nice video i bought both reels and like them both i gave the concept z to my cousin since it was his bday and hes been wanting one since he heard of them ill miss it haha
Concept had a heavy rod it of course would not cast as long as a med/heavy...
the concept Z is way worth it... i got mine on hold at the shop so when i go to florida for salt water, where the K cant do that...
Joshua Lyon any reel can be used in salt water it’s just a function of proper maintenance.
