- I could hardly find anything, online, about removing the second row of seats in a Ford Transit Connect Wagon. So, here's the scoop. There are 2 bolts and the front one needs a long angle wrench.
Nice job Shelly. Thank you for taking your time to produce the vid. You saved me time fiddlin'g around with mine!
Thank you! This is my top video. Here's what I have been up to this summer. th-cam.com/channels/v4Gu2UHLVL5A-eH7eoPGHg.htmlvideos Enjoy!
This was very helpful, we're currently bus life but selling the bus for two vans and I've been doing a ton of research about which van would be best for the buck and how to convert. This was super helpful ❤
Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!
Great job!! I like your attitude of getting it done!!
Thank you!
I bought one that has the middle row of seats only. It's a 2012 with 40000 miles. I had to have a high roof. Three seats behind cab sit on the higher floor that starts directly behind the driver and passenger seats. This will help I hope. It's being delivered soon. No one thought of making a video on this except you, great!
Thank you for watching. Hope this helps!
Thanks for this! I just got a 2019 model and will be attempting the seat removal any day now 🍀💖🙏🏻😊
Thank you for watching! Happy travels!!
You may want to cut a 2x4 wood to place between the bottom legs of your bed. I fractured my tail bone many years ago when one side folded in. Collapsed, so I landed on the folding bar with only the rubber between.
Your camper looks so cozy now
Thank you for the wise words. I have 2 tie downs pulling in opposite directions to keep the legs open. Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for this video. This is the only video I could find showing what I needed. Bless you!
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
Thank you! I found you can get more clearance if you pull the plastic caps off. I used a dental tool to release those cap the socket wrench fitted. We are off to Alaska in June. Two kid's, two grands and two parent's, we have a pod for the roof and a hitch self if needed.
Oh, OK. Thanks! Have a wonderful trip!!
Thanks for the video. Note, when I took out my third row seats, it seemed like the bolts would stick out, but from another video the guy said he screwed them all the way down, I tried it and it worked. Has to use the socket wrench to get it back down, but it did go all the way.
Good to know! Thank you!
Thank you ! I am debating over getting a cargovan type connect or the one with passenger seats to get a more versatile car, so when looking for all options I found this video. Thank you for making ut :) I have put this on the scale of options. Not sure wich way it will tip yet :)
What did you end up doing? Thank you for watching!
Great video. Did you get any dashboard warning lights when you removed the seats and seatbelts? My 2020 model gives a ‘Service now’ warning if the rear 2 seatbelts are unplugged. So I haven’t even attempted the middle row!
That’s really good to know in the event I ever really need to take mine out. Just got a used 2018 Transit Connect wagon to get converted to right hand drive for delivering mail.
Sounds nice. Thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing this very helpful video. I appreciate it.
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much. This answered my question about how flat the passenger version floor is. Answer, not very.
Glad to help. Thank you for watching!
Fantastic video Shelley, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
I may have missed it mentioned in the video, but what size Torx did you need for the bolt removal?
Somewhere I think I heard T50, but want to check.
For those wondering, I bought a set of Torx and the 2018 version was using a T55 bit for the seats.
I think I bought a 50 and a 55 just to make sure I had the right one.
Thanks for this ... I had no idea there was another bolt there. Going to attempt mine today :-)
How did it work? Thank you for watching!
@@snowbirdgardener1 no problem at all! I saw the other bolt as soon as I went looking for it ... I bought a long Torx head hex key and got it out in two minutes. Definitely the right tool for the job.
The seats fold flat and the car is tall. So why didn't you just spread out on the folded down seats?
Thanks for sharing.. I just couldn’t work it out myself. Cheers
Ty for your video on removing sears. I’m considering doing the same but here’s my question , how many height inches do you think you gained, I’m trying to see if there may be a few places I could actually stand up… I’m 5’6”. Ty for your time, Cate
Hi, I couldn't stand up on any of the levels in the Ford Transit Connect and ended up getting a regular Ford Transit, so now I can stand up.
Great job!
Thanks for sharing this information!
Glad it was helpful!
OMG THANK U SO DO SO MUCH WHAT YR IS YOURS ? MINES A 2017, a subfloor atall?
It was 2015. No subfloor. Happy travels!
Shelly, I think your doing great, if you come to the South of Alabama, let me know!
Thank you for watching! No plans to come east of the Mississippi, but one never knows!
Thank you for the explanation
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!
FYI that plastic cover comes off and you can get to bolt . Might want to find new mechanic
Good to know! Thank you!
Can you tell me your cargo height dimensions with all the seats removed? I’m trying to figure out if I could load a motorcycle inside. Great vid!
It's in the shop for a recall on the gaskets around the moon roof but when I get it back I'll measure and tell you. Thank you for watching!
Still waiting for the car to get back. They broke the glass ta
taking it off to replace the seals and seems they cannot find a replacement. Really ridiculous!! And I bought a Ford so I could always get parts!! Hahaha
No problem, thanks for trying! I ended up with a Metris to meet my needs of loading a motorcycle. I think even if the TC could for it, the squeeze would be too tight!
@@breakingbadhabits The Metris looks nice. Have a great time out there!
Do you happen to know the weight of the 2/3 bench sat you removed?
I'll weigh it and let you know. Thank you for watching!
It's around 75 or 80 lbs.
@@snowbirdgardener1 Thanks!
Just a FYI ford is discontinuing the transit connect in 2023. In the USA.
Wow!
What a cool lady! Thanks
Thank you! Thank you for watching!
Are you worried about your driver side airbag being disabled?
Hi, Thank you for watching! I wasn't aware that I disabled the driver side airbag. Can you please tell me where you read that, so I can check it out? Thank you.
@@snowbirdgardener1 I saw it on a forum, but I just came back from the Ford dealership (I'm looking to buy one) and their service department said you can remove the passenger seats without disabling the air bags. Sorry if I caused any alarm!
@@mostHumblePersonAlive Thank you for letting me know! If you get one I hope you love it! I've had a Honda Element, a VW Eurovan Camper and now, this Ford Transit Connect. I like it the best. I'm not quite ready for all the "RV" stuff in the VW, I was too tall to sleep comfortably in the Element but the Transit Connect is just right, so far.
Nice
Thank you for watching!
