Thanks for the video. For the odd condition of the front passenger seat having a top tether - I'm guessing that they use the same seat for cargo vans in which case this would be the only passenger seat, so if you only have a parent and child in the van, the tether would be needed. (I have 2018 148" LR 15 passenger - love it!, get the ecoboost!)

Hello, could you put sits 6 and 7 on the 3 and 4 spot so it would be a bench of 2 sits rather than 3?

The top tether on the passenger side front seat is for rear facing car seats. A rear facing car seat can be tethered down to the seat in front of it. And since the seat close to the door does not have a wall next to it it’s highly recommended that you would tether it in

This was great! Thanks for the complete demo of how to clear out the van. I am relieved that the seats are basically easy to remove (by two strong, patient people). It is incredibly helpful that you showed the exact structures and mechanisms, and gave us the torque head wrench sizes you used. Thankfully, I would only have to remove 6 seats from the 8 passenger MR FTC Wagon. I wouldn't want to keep the removed seats. Maybe a Ford dealer would uninstall and keep them. If not, I know how to get 'em out, thanks to you.

My guess is the reason they have a car seat anchor in the front passenger is if you are using a cargo van configuration and need it in a pinch. It should also have weight sensors to disable the airbags for passengers under the safe limit.

  • @Pastaben
    @Pastaben 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. The child seat on the front passenger seat is not without purpose. Not sure if someone else addressed this in the comments. You can turn off the front passenger airbag with a switch, or, in some cars these days, it automatically turns off airbag if the weight sensor does not pass a threshhold.
The purpose for having a child seat anchor in front passenger seat is because in the event you take out all the seats, like you just demonstrated, but still need to have a toddler go along for a ride, the front passenger seat is it. Not ideal place for small children, but almost all passenger cars these days allow for the front passenger to take a toddler seat without the airbag being an issue.

Great video! I need to transport 15 of the 2023 transit seats, in a vehicle that is significantly smaller than the Transit that they came out of. So I know I'm going to have to Tetris them in order to get them to fit. Is it possible to fold the seats down after they're removed? Typically with an SUV or Van, you'd be able to fold down the back of the seat onto itself to allow for extra cargo/carrying space. I don't have the seats with me (this is a job I will be doing for someone else who owns the seats but needs them shipped), so I'm not able to check for myself. Are you able to tell me if your seats will fold down after being removed?

Unfortunately I never had a chance to look at other configurations but looking at the brochure, it looks like the 12 seat would have the same rear seating configuration as the 15 seat. I believe that the 10 seat is only for the short (130") WB whereas the 12 seat is for the long (148") WB. Personally, I really like the 148", especially for camping with a family. You might want to swing by a dealer to look at them. There are tons of Transits in the Seattle area. Thanks for watching!

I can see if this type of vehicle is used at a daycare or similar type of facility and in case of an absolute emergency, you need to evacuate a child away from the zone and to a local Fire Station, you would be able to put one more at the front. Again, i'm only speculating on a worst case scenario.

I know you posted this a year ago but could you do a video of all the window views and it only could be a five minute video but we’re going on vacation and this is our van but we don’t go for a few months so yeah Please and thank you

Great video. but too late for me. I have a 10 passenger T-150 130 WB version. I had to remove all but the rear triple seat to make room for a wheelchair lift and locking unit. I do not or need them for future. So I am going to sell my seats along with the mounting rails in the floor.

That URL for the brochure doesn't seem to work any more.

Are you to make a video of your conversion? Bed, water? Etc. Thanks

Hi Russ, in fact I'm working on some of these videos right now. I've got other videos on the van conversion at th-cam.com/play/PLxdnSsBqCrrF5nO7cmNTc4cct0miFWdO6.html. Please feel free to subscribe or check them out. Thanks for watching!

@@ChristopherLum I am subscribed, and that list didn't include interior other than taking out headliner, seats, shore power? Did it? Like what about the TV, Bed, sink? Thanks

@@RoadTripRuss , you are correct, I don't have those videos up yet but I'm hoping to have them posted soon. I will definitely cover those topics and a few others as well.

How should I dispose of the extra seats, I have, after converting my Ford Transit passenger van? Thanks

Great detail! Do any of the seats fold down?

Hi Chris, Once the seats are removed, what did you do to cover all the holes in the floor? Over time lots of grit and cheerios could end up in those holes! Thanks for your informative video.
