Interesting I’m about to do the same thing I have a ford diagram for the seats for 2nd & 3rd row positions I believe you use the leaf spring mount as a datum points for the 2 outer brackets and the rear bolts falls directly above it so requires a longer bolts 130-140mm
One thing to bear in mind here is these are 3rd row seats in 2nd row position so they don't line up exactly. Only done due to surplus of those seats (as all minibus drivers sell them off for luggage space)
@@CreweTubeyeah 3rd row bolts holes are slightly in different positions in distance between each other, I’m sure the leaf spring is still a datum for the back bolt of the runner on both types, which I’ve been told anyway on transit forums on Facebook,
Where did you purchase the various items ? Do you have links ? Looking at doing this but having 9 seats as family is growing and dint like people carriers, plus i can get mire fishing gear in a van 😂
The guy who fitted them all supplied them (Cornwall Motor Homes, he travels all over UK doing them at your house/work) They can be got on eBay though, just make sure you get matching rails to the seat row as second and third row seats use different rails to connect to.
Hard to tell what contributed more out the two but a significant noise reduction now with it in. Still boomy from side and roof but road noise itself reduced a lot
Fantastic job, just about to give this a go myself , did you choose your rail positions or use Ford specs from the bemm? Am a looking for existing mounting holes that are hidden ? I can’t quite make sense of it all yet, and have read there is a lot in the way (other than the fuel tank) Any help appreciated 👍👍
We went custom position as we wanted them slightly further forward for more rear space and they're third row seats from a Torneo not second row so wouldn't have lined up. I believe there are some guidelines on where to drill for second row but they're so hard to find compared to third row most people don't bother.
Thanks for the reply that’s useful to know ! Did all your hole positions miss the box sections of the chassis then ? I’ve been digging around today and there seems to be a few areas that would require an extra long bolt drilling right the way through and a couple of places near the leaf springs where you simply can’t get to. Thanks
Seat belts are all integrated to the seats so simplifies it massively, as otherwise yes lots of additional testing and certification required. As it stands this is no different from how they are fitted to a Torneo, just with custom brackets rather than OE ones but theyre all well above spec and similar methods to how bucket seats and harness are installed with spreader plates etc
Fantastic job, very clear video, would you do same again? Did you put small washers on the floor at the bottom of the seat rails or just go straight down onto metal Thanks
No, had to drill and bolt through with spreader plates. The factory tourneos mount in a similar way but with custom spreader plates that are also welded onto chassis rails. Fuel tank needed its strap undone and dropped slightly (onto a jack) but not fully dropped.
Looks really clean and smooth, good job. Is this going to be a daily driver for the family? Watching few previous videos of this, I thought you were making a camper van.
Are you telling me these seat rails have just been bolted straight onto the 2/3mm thick van floor with bolts !? In the event of a crash it is high likely the force will rip them from the floor propelling passenger!! Have they been secured to the chassis leg (no they haven't as there are two one to the left and right)... Any reinforced steel underneath welded in place for securing??
They have steel spreader plates underneath, shown in the video. This is pretty much the standard install method like FIA/MSUK recommend for cages and seat belt mounts to distribute load. Factory Tourneo and Transit Custom DCIV use the same setup as they share the floorpan.
Thanks for the video, Are these definitely? 3rd row seats. I thought the individual seats with the armrest. Are 2nd row. Which would have Sat directly behind it. Drivers seat in the Torneo. I'm only asking as I've got the same seats as you and I'm looking at fitting him into my van. Did he? Need to drop the tank ?
Definitely third row, both rows have similar seats but the rails are longer on third. Tank was partially dropped, just one side of bracket unbolted and dropped onto a jack for access
I did not realise You can modify a vehicle to such an extent and keep it legal. Are You planning a bulkhead behind the chairs or maybe a doggo compartment?
Thanks for the reference video John, I'll keep it bookmarked for when I start my build!
The instalation looks great.
Thanks

Thanks for great video I just wondered what size timber you have used to raise the floor and did you trim the side door square edge?
Thanks Tom
Side door has a nice 90 degree metal trim cover, can't remember the exact size timber but it was probably 1x0.5" or similar
Looks like 2x1 planed
I’m about to do mine!! Just waiting on the bits. (I’m a carpenter) so hoping with this video it should be relatively easy!!
Nice pro job
How’s it 1 year on?
Any suggestions/recommendations to people having this done aswell? - thank you
No issues, complaints or anything I'd have done different!
How much did adding the sticky back insulation and floor reduce the road noise?
Hard to tell what contributed more out the two but a significant noise reduction now with it in. Still boomy from side and roof but road noise itself reduced a lot
Hi, did you have measurements for where you drilled through the floor. Did you drop the petrol tank? Thanks, Chris
Yes dropped tank slightly, undo bracket and let it droop down and support with a jack or something.
@CreweTube that's great thankyou. Did you have measurements of where to drill the floor? Thanks

@@DanSands-e5oI’ve got a diagram and as a datum point you go off the front of the leaf spring for the both outer brackets rear bolts position
@@finbarh6 hello mate where did you get your diagram from?
How many strips did you need and what sizes?
Does it all have to be M1 tested, what about seat belts ?

do you need to put supports in for the seat rails
Not beyond the bolts and spreader plates through the floor, the lips of the rails sit on the raised ply floor

Were the mounting points for the seats already there. If you had to drill right through. Did you have to drop the fuel tank down

Hi love the video what sort of price does it cost to supply the kit to fit the rear seats into transit custom
Looks great, where did you get the seat from?
EBay, plenty of people selling third row Torneo seats
@@CreweTube 👍
No spreader bar underneath?
Individual spreader plates for each M10/M12 bolt

Yep daily for the family/dogs rather than camper van. Will probably tow a caravan with it at some point
@CreweTube Make sense, especially if you have the ability to tow stuff. 👍

Full dog crate setup going in rear forming a bulkhead.
Skipped over the legal part lol
Perfectly legal too 😉 it passed its MOT and all declared on insurance
@@CreweTube nice, didn't know they'd allow a DIY install of seats & seatbelts
@@TheMightyYak Seatbelts on those seats are integral to the seats. Rails & OEM Ford and are for those exact seats.
