Valhalla is so much better than no return IMO. While no return is fun it feels like wasted potential. No co-op is crazy and no dodge for Joel and Tommy feels like a slap in the face more than anything else.
Having no dodge for them actually makes sense since they are pre-armed with some already powerful weapons, with Joel his revolver which is one shot and has nearly 10 bullets, and Tommy’s sniper which is also a one shot. I hated the no dodge option at first but as I played it more I understood why they took it out.
@@nurbmanjones1709 nah, you get tagged once around 2 infected and it’s over. Since they took the dodge away they should’ve made either a newer mechanic to be a parry/push away OR they could’ve just kept it like TLOU Part 1 when Joel gets hit, he doesn’t nearly get affected as much and can actually keep moving while taking damage. So in the end they removed an entire button and main mechanic from the game for the two characters a lot of us want to play as (with the newer mechanics) and I’m supposed to think that was a good idea? By making them less fun to use?
@@CraneOnaKrane just ignore him. He’s one of those people butt hurt that they called it a remaster instead of directors cut. He’ll get over it in a few weeks…

I’m telling you, it’s like they forgot that people play video games for the GAMEPLAY, I could watch movies and tv shows or read a book for grandeur stories. Like the gameplay was the best part of last of us why wouldn’t we want more of that.
I wonder if they will add a multiplayer function to this, so that two people can do runs together? Or two players can be against each other and against the waves of enemies as well, with only one player getting to advance to the next scenario. If they opt for a more robust, but standard (no live service), multiplayer mode for TLOU3, this could be something that us expanded on in that game. Like better character traits lol. Joel and Tommy not being able dodge wouldn't be as bad, if they had a block/parry trait to compensate. Maybe they can only do so with weapons, and it works like it does in RE4R's knife parry. If they go into a more open zone style of level design, that could open even more insane possibilities. Druckman did say that he was playing a shit ton of Souls games and fell in love with their level design and environmental storytelling a while back....so hopefully he merges some of those strengths with his....
great video I think this sums up how it feels to play no return really well. It's fun but then u get this wave of sadness and dread that this is it. Losing factions and no tlou stuff for a while is a bummer.
It sucks that all we get is No Return, but man, it's pretty fun. Finished my first run today. Showed up to the Arcade stocked fully with pipe bombs and a flamethrower and ruined the bloaters day.
I think you really articulated every fan’s opinion on not just the last of us 2, but naughty dog fan in general. After four years… this is all we get? It seems like Neil turned the studio to be more about awards, praise, ego and Hollywood more than people like Bruce or Amy cared for. I think naughty dog as a whole after Neil’s promotion has completely tanked the company’s reputation. You’re telling me Neil can go to the Emmy’s but not make the multiplayer? He’s the president. He is the reflection of the company now for good or worse. It just feels like such a spit in the face to the fans. Caring more about ego and praise than the people that got you where you are now. The energy and life naughty dog gave people when it came to gaming is completely sucked dry. Unfortunately, this really is a fall from grace company. Man, I wish we got factions 2
"You’re telling me Neil can go to the Emmy’s but not make the multiplayer?," I dislike Neil too but they admitted that making Factions 2 in the vision that Sony/Bungie wanted it to be, would have required the studio to shift to Live-Service only. It would destroy Naughty Dog. I can respect that decision, but at the same time WHY does it have to be a long-term monetized experience instead of a polished multiplayer experience? Maybe the logistics of long-term support via balancing and patches (which is an unfortunate reality of every multiplayer game) would have removed too many resources from making their new IP and/or TLOU Part 3
@@GothamiteYT I feel like the long term solution was more of Sony and not naughty dog. I think we all agree on that. Kinda how naughty dog is caught between a rock in a hard place. But the way they worded it was poor. And it is a bad look for Neil to go to the award show after he CAN factions 2. He’s the face of the company… you gotta be smarter than that. Imagine calling out of your job sick, just for your boos to see you strolling down the street healthy and doing your thing.
People are reading into Joel’s inclusion in this mode the wrong way. He’s one of many characters you can play as, and since he’s a giant killing machine, they had to handicap him in some way, so he’s tough but he can’t dodge, same as a couple other characters. Not a big deal 😂
I think some kind of stamina eliment would have been better than nothing at all. Going from spamming with weaker characters to maybe only being able to get one or two dodges with Joel and Tommy.
I know this might seem a bit to good to work but nothing stops us from asking for a multiplayer update on no return. The community loves the game and it could bring so many new people in (wich means money for naughty dog, and no one wants to lose money). Besides there’s nothing to lose in that situation, if a lot of people ask for it, maybe it will work and we’ll have something closer to factions.
Got a sub here, bro! I completely agree with your stance on this. I am also sad while playing. Adding coop would have made this a 10 out of 10. Hope Naughty dog sees this!
A simple faction 2 was only thing fans asked for and yet ridiculous miss management of naughty dogs lead to a project of failure. Naughty dog says we won't develop online games because we are story expert, such a lame excuse. Who tf developed faction and uncharted multiplayer which were awesome. And unfortunately die hard fans of naughty suck every wrong decision of this company
I agree completely I am so disappointed about factions 2 being cancelled. But I also see their point of view. Naughty dog is known for single player games. They said it themselves in the statement. We either focus on singleplayer story based games or we just become a multiplayer dev team. And they have way more experience for singleplayer. I may not like it but I definitely see why they did it and I would miss their really good single player games anyways. I hope you also see this point of view.
I see that point of view for sure, I just think there seem to be plenty of ways to try to deliver some multiplayer experience and I don't like that they framed it as an either or scenario. They could go back to what they used to do and provide small multiplayer modes to accompany their single players and I would be happy
@@DrPooplove Yeah i see what you mean but botting is becoming a huge problem in multiplayer games. If naughty dog wants to keep their game fun and non botted its gonna take a lot of resources up. If bots werent such a issue they could just make a version fo the game and keep it forever lol.
Given that the last actually fun original game Naughty Dog made was 8 years ago, its pretty safe to say ND no longer knows how to make games. They went to make factions 2, realised multiplayer cant be a movie then scrapped the project.
I’m a big fan of the custom run option! I turn off the invisible mod because I totally agree, it’s a bridge too far for my enjoyment personally. But I like that I can tailor it to my play style.
Look, obviously we're all pissed factions got cut. I have 0 interest in playing this mode solo. I'm sorry. I know it may be fun for some to do the same thing over and over again but to your point, all they had to do was make it co-op and I would have went from having 0 interest in playing to 100% interest in playing. It also would have lessened the sting of factions being canceled. So yea. They fucked up yet again.
This game mode has so much potential. Very limited cause once you really get your character the way you like, you’ll only have 1 or 2 more fights. We should be able to go on a NEW RUN+ more difficult and with more levels. Like imagine really working trough your character and be unbeaten for 100+ encounters, with each encounter being harder or even you be forced to go UP in difficulty for this NEW RUN+. And then of course, some co-op and some online not focusing much on PVP but some sort of competitive game modes. Ideally with some improvements to some characters, like example, Joel cant dodge, ok sure, but at least let him have a block melee function like in Part I he could block!! Imagine this gamemode feeling like a Day Z true Rogue game, like days of progress with your character. At least i think Naughty Dog could see the pontential, and after PART III they give us that will last for years like this NO RETURN 2.0 Online, since PART III will be the last chapter to this game/storyline
And Joel not dodging but blocking (you can block a hit, but it wouldnt let you disengage from the fight like a dodge does) would be good cause he wont feel very agile but tankier that supposedly is the idea for his character
This release feels so half assed imo. I was shocked there was anyine in the community who were at all excited about it, given how relatively recently the game came out and the lack of multiplayer
I watched the TH-camr Jorapter live stream playing this mode last Monday. What was funny is that he had 30 for his flame thrower during round 1 and end the round 2 he had 90 but he never bothered to reload the weapon. Now here is where it gets funny. He was playing with stealth and had PLENTY of time and chances to reload and of course during round 3 he gets swarmed by 3 enemies and quickly runs out of fuel and dies but if he had reloaded he might have won the fight. The point is TH-camrs are not better gamers than the rest of us and sometimes they play with stupidity.
GOW, Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, all Sony companies, all that had post launch content is what frustrates me the most (two of those have had sequels already). Add in the fact that No Return feels like it should have been pushed out during launch in 2020; it feels like whoever is calling the shots at ND doesn’t understand gaming anymore. I know the community is ok with the fact that ND gave up on Factions to focus on their story games but gonna be honest there are to many great story games now and I don’t want to play another story game right now (a la RE4 remake and Alan Wake 2). Rising tides lift all boats but the ND ship is sinking.
I don't know if a modern Last of Us multiplayer would be sustainable in today's multiplayer industry. I think people forget that when the original Last of Us and its multiplayer came out in 2013 that was still the old age of multiplayer where all you needed to do was add some deathmatch and execution modes for people to mess around with. Today's multiplayer landscape is riddled with events, paid passes, and countless carrots on sticks to keep your attention because the golden age of players just playing deathmatch for the fun of it is long dead. Factions 2 would definitely follow the mold of modern multiplayer and if I had to choose between that and great single player games I would pick the great single player games every time. Naughty Dog made a tough call but it was the right one.
Except there is still a very large loyal following that plays factions on a daily basis. Also factions is a much different type of deathmatch there’s not a multiplayer like it, and looks like there never will be. But here’s hoping.
I’ve realized the mode has the factions music💀 but I LOVE this game, it came out Friday and it says I have 41 hours logged and I haven’t played the story yet😂
I like the no return mode and being able to play the game again. I told my girlfriend about it since she love the HBO Max TLOU series. She said “oh I can’t want to play co-op with you” but I told her oh they don’t have that in it 🤦🏽♂️ Plus Naughty Dog just needs to release online faction mode already!!! It’s been almost 4 years now and that is enough time to make a factions mode. They could have released No Return and Faction at the same time to help bring a lot more people back 🤦🏽♂️. ND made a dumb decision to not make an online mode is crazy to me. That was a big part of their fan base and they missed the mark 🤷🏽♂️ Only thing I will say for ND is to release more levels/stages maybe or different modes if they decide to stay in this route 🤦🏽♂️
A lot of these Sony exclusives lack replayability imo. No return and Valhalla give me more reasons to get back in since the gameplay for both is immaculate. That being said No Return just feels like wasted potential. Joel and Tommy both have Abby’s animations and them not being able to dodge is dumb no matter how many people glaze the concept. Atleast let us be able to counter attack idc about them feeling “broken” give us something. Hell Abby feels more broken than they do. It’s good but could be great
I've been playing this with a mate through Share Play, he joins my game and we take it in turns to complete an encounter. Gives it a different feel when you dying screws up your friend's progress too lol...but jeze how much I wish Naughty Dog would say they're releasing an update with Factions 2. They know people are still playing Factions 1 and it's such a massive disappointment to not get what would have been an incredible multiplayer experience. Imagine playing as the Seraphites and when you tag an enemy you do a whistle or being able to release a clicker into the environment that attacks anyone it finds... I obviously don't know how much work it would actually be to make a 4v4 mode in TLOU2 but you'd think it would be pretty easy considering they have all the assets and would just need to adjust the maps a bit!
Also the playable characters leaves a lot to be desired, who the hell wants to play as yara? Like abbys boyfriend had more story time and is not even playable. Rewards feel very lame for a a 10 dollar pricetag even more after GOW Valhalla that is completely free and full of bosses and contributes to the story. This will be forgotten very soon, they should done factions instead of this.
Played this on launch day, then went back to factions. So lame that ND dropped factions 2. I think once they decided factions 2 would be a stand alone game, in entirely new city, the scope got too out of control. Naughty Dog would always use already made assets and condensed levels for multiplayer in UC2, UC3, UC4, and TLoU for their maps. Having to make entirely new environment and levels in San Francisco, with new characters is a ton of work. Probably burnt out a lot of the team. I wish we could see some footage of what they were making, I'm sure it was far along enough that ND could release something that would satisfy their factions player base, because No Return is not that.
This was basically the scratched "Objective" mode that was discovered through a bug on PS4. Factions 1 is still going strong despite certain issues, and I'm happy for that.
I am extremely happy part two is my favorite game in life and now it is even better, something I thought was impossible the no return mode is very fun and I do notice the graphic improvement there are several new details and the 4k and they also improved all the animations and the combat is more varied, simply perfect, plus all the comments from the creators that last about 4 hours, it is perfect for me, the best version of a naughty dog game
We need a 1v1 in TLOU2. Both select a few weapons to start, then spawn in one of these maps, 20 second grace period to collect items and craft, then it’s just a battle until someone wins
Factions 2 was at least playable naughty dog should of at least on the PlayStation store for free and see player feedback and engagement. To maybe see if this game could be profitable and if couldn't be profitable at least hardcore factions fans could get a rough sequel
Joel not being able to dodge is insanely dummy dumb there was a post I saw where an infected runner was literally just stun locking Joel in a corner. The infected in TLOU PT 2 are made with dodge in mind and not having dodge literally just makes Joel and Tommy feel sloppy and weird.
Dr Pooplove! Let’s hope they add a co-op mode to this and a small Factions 2 in the future, all we can do is keep telling ND, at some point they could finally listen to his fans😪🙏🏼
What would be freakin' amazing is if they had PvP 2v2v2v2v2 (Joel/Tommy vs Ellie/Dina vs Yara/Lev vs Abby/Manny vs Owen/Mel vs Jesse/???). Modes could be capture the flag with the ones in possession always shown on the map and which ever group holds it the longest wins...🤔
ND already said they’d have to abandon everything single player and focus on live service if they were to do it. It’s unfortunate but it’s been beaten down via 9 iron golf club
I genuinely think it’s high time for Naughty Dog to chew on a big ol piece of Humble Pie. They’ve been on the pedestal for too long and I think it’s gotten to their heads.
Naughty dog has said they will be on top of this mode updating it often. I’m hopping that means new mods and new maps often. One can only hope. Down the road I think they will introduce multiplayer for this.
No Return is so good that I would love a multiplayer mode now! I play almost exclusively single player games, but this series would have been perfect for multi, especially coop. Still, I embrace their decision to can it. Bold move considering the loss of money for their studio. It's a hell of a statement though for single player games. The strongest message since God of War's success on PS4. I didn't think I would want a multiplayer game so much before playing No Return. It's that good. Only gripe : Survivor difficulty is soul crushing! I'll play on Hard tonight and see how I fare. It's awesome!
So check this out During the cancellation, people were hyping up Spider-Man and PlayStation was awarding themselves for it. Bungie (a investor of NaughtyDogs) made a review on what needs to be scrapped. So NaughtyDog claimed they didnt have the resources to handle a live streaming service. So they decided to make story driven games only to "stick to the integrity of the legacy". Factions 2 would have made ND millions if they had maintained it. People loved the combat and they knew that. After this happened, Rockstar had leaks, dlcs and even Bully 2. Immediately after there was the GOW package. Then peoples information got leaked. There were alot of weird things going on during the time of the cancellation and i think Bungie and people who have nothing to do with development has something to do with why we're not seeing some games come to light.
They spent time making this game mode instead of a new factions which to me, was a waste of time and their new project was a failure. I hate this new game mode.

I’m quite disappointed that everyone has the same guns for the most part. I wish I could have used Joel’s shotgun or Jesse’s lever-action rifle, instead of either Ellie or Abby’s guns from story mode and that’s pretty much it.
About it being $10 while Valhalla is free. Its because No Returns comes with the PS5 upgrade, which is usually $10 for any game, while Valhalla is just Valhalla. If you bought Ragnarok for PS4 and wanted to upgrade to PS5, you would have to pay $10.
I platinumed Part 1 and 2 and have fond memories of the PS4 Remaster. But I can love the game only so much and a Rogue-like mode isn't enough to bring me back. With a co-op mode, that would be a different story though...
The thing is I think the mode is great it would have been better if it was continuous until you die. Six encounters then a random boss until you die and the run will then be over, some updates afterwards that would add new characters, maps and hell even the groups from the first game.
Seeing the title of this video made me upset initially. I thought about how fun the mode is and that there’s no reasonable explanation for how someone could not like it. Then I watched the video and realized that not only do you like the mode, but that being sad about the potential of this mode and what it represents to factions. This cleared it up a lot for me and made me appreciate the criticisms more.
bro i knew factions 2 wasnt coming through when all they had to show us was artwork 😂 but honestly for them to go back and reuse old assets on a newer game while also making a completely different project is a lot for any developers. the only issue is them promising it in the first place but im still looking forward to their future work
I fucking love No Return. It’s exactly what I hoped it would be. The only thing that could make it better is if they added a co-op mode. I hope they continue to add other characters from the first game too like Bill, Henry and Tess.

I still don’t understand how in the age of Sony capitalizing on their IPs so much in film that they botch a title attached to their most relevant multimedia franchise (for the moment). That’s not counting Spider-Man of course, I’m talking original IP. Hopefully TLOU3 has MP when it comes far from now, but I won’t get my hopes up.

I hope naughty dog continues to keep adding new things that actually should already be in the mode

Have to agree regarding the invisible mod. Totally ridiculous, I died in a run cause of that mod. Was seriously annoyed.
This can be solved with custom runs
I wish naughty dog had a super jump mod or no damage mod
Super diving and dodging would be sweet
great video I think this sums up how it feels to play no return really well. It's fun but then u get this wave of sadness and dread that this is it. Losing factions and no tlou stuff for a while is a bummer.
Long shot but would be great if they added a few new weapons to the mode in future - whether it’s Dina or Jesse’s rifles or the Part 1 weapons
It sucks that all we get is No Return, but man, it's pretty fun.
Finished my first run today. Showed up to the Arcade stocked fully with pipe bombs and a flamethrower and ruined the bloaters day.
Nice!
The only thing that is lame about no return is every other character uses Ellie and Abby's animations alongside their backpacks like what?! 😭
Factions died for this..
Neil is (((Neil))) thats why.
He literally has Abby’s movement and everything it just feels lazy
@@mrrobluxo2369 Interesting. I'll have to play and see if he has abby's movement. Can Abby dodge? Been playing again today as ellie.

The amount of times I get trapped in a corner as Joel and get soft locked because I can't dodge so frustrating
Got a sub here, bro! I completely agree with your stance on this. I am also sad while playing. Adding coop would have made this a 10 out of 10. Hope Naughty dog sees this!
Thanks!
If bots werent such a issue they could just make a version fo the game and keep it forever lol.
you actually believed that?
@@Junglesmells do you live in a world where you deny everything people say?
Given that the last actually fun original game Naughty Dog made was 8 years ago, its pretty safe to say ND no longer knows how to make games. They went to make factions 2, realised multiplayer cant be a movie then scrapped the project.
I’m a big fan of the custom run option! I turn off the invisible mod because I totally agree, it’s a bridge too far for my enjoyment personally. But I like that I can tailor it to my play style.
3:41 sure there are loading screens but they are 1000 times faster than the ps4 game which took 1-2 minutes to load
I’m really liking it so far, I get the combat and crafting loop I love so much in a more arcade style.
Co-op will comes with a special price of $19.99
Or a full price of £69.99
Yah i did notice that the characters share animations. I wish they all got unique ones
I will never forgive Druckmann for not adding Owen. I don’t care how many thousands of dollars and hours it would’ve cost 😖.
The cancellation of factions was as bad as them canceling 1313
The re-releases be like
The Last of Us Part I Part II Part III
She said “oh I can’t want to play co-op with you” but I told her oh they don’t have that in it 🤦🏽♂️
Plus Naughty Dog just needs to release online faction mode already!!! It’s been almost 4 years now and that is enough time to make a factions mode. They could have released No Return and Faction at the same time to help bring a lot more people back 🤦🏽♂️. ND made a dumb decision to not make an online mode is crazy to me. That was a big part of their fan base and they missed the mark 🤷🏽♂️
Only thing I will say for ND is to release more levels/stages maybe or different modes if they decide to stay in this route 🤦🏽♂️
Invisible enemies......what sadist came up with THAT idea for stalkers!?
Watching dr pooplove while pooping never gets old
I am extremely happy part two is my favorite game in life and now it is even better, something I thought was impossible the no return mode is very fun and I do notice the graphic improvement there are several new details and the 4k and they also improved all the animations and the combat is more varied, simply perfect, plus all the comments from the creators that last about 4 hours, it is perfect for me, the best version of a naughty dog game
Womp womp, TLOU OG part 1 / Uncharted 3 both with their MP parts are the best things Naughty Dog have put out ever.
I think the mode is cool, but it just makes me miss the potential of Factions 2.
Fuck this upgrade, I’m not getting it.
We need a 1v1 in TLOU2. Both select a few weapons to start, then spawn in one of these maps, 20 second grace period to collect items and craft, then it’s just a battle until someone wins

there was a post I saw where an infected runner was literally just stun locking Joel in a corner.
The infected in TLOU PT 2 are made with dodge in mind and not having dodge literally just makes Joel and Tommy feel sloppy and weird.

I hate these types of DLCs.
We need to start some petition about adding Factions to Part 2

I agree, I definitely do feel like this is another stampede for the last of us 2 no return is just a bit too rough and very difficult itself.
Where did they say that?

No Return is so good that I would love a multiplayer mode now! I play almost exclusively single player games, but this series would have been perfect for multi, especially coop. Still, I embrace their decision to can it. Bold move considering the loss of money for their studio. It's a hell of a statement though for single player games. The strongest message since God of War's success on PS4. I didn't think I would want a multiplayer game so much before playing No Return. It's that good. Only gripe : Survivor difficulty is soul crushing! I'll play on Hard tonight and see how I fare. It's awesome!
So check this out
During the cancellation, people were hyping up Spider-Man and PlayStation was awarding themselves for it.
Also, for 60 dollars. (Same price as original). We got less value for our money than a game that came out a decade ago. Ugh…
So many weird complaints in this video I don’t even know if it’s supposed to be taken serious
You literally hit it on the nail my thoughts exactly. Hopefully they learn their lesson and make things right with LOU 3
They spent time making this game mode instead of a new factions which to me, was a waste of time and their new project was a failure. I hate this new game mode.
One thing I wanted in factions was the infected which didn't make sense, so No return for me is perfect

I think Joel being resistant to melee is the reason why he took so many golf clubs to begin with 😔
I’m quite disappointed that everyone has the same guns for the most part.
This cleared it up a lot for me and made me appreciate the criticisms more.
bro i knew factions 2 wasnt coming through when all they had to show us was artwork 😂 but honestly for them to go back and reuse old assets on a newer game while also making a completely different project is a lot for any developers. the only issue is them promising it in the first place but im still looking forward to their future work
Factions got canceled?!?!?
I fucking love No Return. It’s exactly what I hoped it would be. The only thing that could make it better is if they added a co-op mode. I hope they continue to add other characters from the first game too like Bill, Henry and Tess.
I’m so glad I’ve reached an age where video games are just a 20 minute hobby due to life, family, work, etc. Games just aren’t as fun as they used to be.
Agreed. I am loving this mode, but it’s a stark reminder of what could have been with TLOU Online.
