My sister recently purchased 20 acres in upstate NY with Farm credit east too. From everything shes told me, they are an incredible lender. Awesome resource for people looking to farm in the North East.
Alexandra--Let me say this--you are, in your own way, somewhat of a remarkable person. I have had a 40 year career in finance including a senior loan officer with AG choice which is now Horizon Farm Credit. But my background also includes investment banking and corporate finance for a publicly traded company, and I was a CFO for a defense contractor. The way you pack so much valuable information into a few minutes is something that senior executives should take note.
Thank you for this video. I was unaware of this. I am over 50 years old and some of my fondest memories are riding with my grandpa on the tractor, combine and wheat truck every harvest.
Prices are too high. With rates not subsidised in ’24 and mortgage still high , currently seeking alternatives to maximise savings without an RV move or taking a loan. I’m seriously contemplating the latter.
If you lack market knowledge, your best bet is to seek advice or support from a consultant or investing coach. Contacting a consultant may sound simple, but it's how I've managed to stay afloat in the market and increase my portfolio to roughly 65% since January. It is, in my opinion, the best way to get started in the industry right now.
Melissa Terri Swayne is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment..
Missouri seed co. Has native grasses that you can plant for filling in land you aren’t using and they’re beautiful! And they’re great for the soil and you don’t mow them
Just stumbled upon this channel (thank you TH-cam algorithm) and binge watched about 10 of your videos. Awesome work, you're very concise, intelligent and maybe even a bit infectious. In a great way. The information you provide and your experiences are extremely helpful, keep doing what you're doing.
I want to homestead, not because I am extremely passionate about it inherently, but because the way I see our country going, it's going to be one of the only ways to live a free life (assuming those in charge don't make laws to intentionally ruin homesteading too). I don't have any farming experience, but I'm willing to put in the work. I want to be able to grow my own food, at least enough to live off of, if not enough to make money from. I'm currently working at a soul-draining factory job in a concrete tomb that pays decently, saving up money to put some kind of plan into action. But I really don't have much of a plan, I don't know enough, I don't know where to start. Assuming I find good land, where do I go from there? I know I need to act soon, at least within a couple years; I'm still young but not getting any younger!
My best advice is to learn gardening by the yard, with organic methods, and minimal soil disruption. Obviously, you have to be able to handle a fork and move bags or buckets of compost, and you will have to mow around any crop you can't use grazers around, but it's safer, cheaper, and easier than cultivation. Here's a hint. Sheep go well with fruit trees, and you sheer for wool to sell, increasing products, reducing fuel for mowing. You can sell the lambs, or expand your operation. Cover crops are great to fix nitrogen in soil, and some are safe for animals.
the farm credit system is great. it's a real relationship with the lender and not some faceless corporation. some will even let you use the equity to do a cross-collateral mortgage to buy more land...great hack especially if you have a low interest rate. they want you to be successful, you aren't just a number in a spreadsheet.
There's a plethora of knowledge to learn and a wealth of information out here that we as Americans don't even know about. Something as basic as owning land because of the everyday corporate and blue collar rat race we're in in the cities. For thousands of years, since Bibilcal times for instance, men and women have been irrigating and cultivating land as are people today, and they're much less stressful.
Thank you for sharing this information, I'm from OH and grew up in the city I've only just began thinking of buying land. The way you explain everything and provide resources is helping me expand and broaden my idea of what it will take and what resources I can utilize. You generally Rock, and I say that for everyone that for everyone that hasn't commented yet!!!

This is awesome and much more encouraging and I completely agree. If you can make enough between a job and/or a farm stand or farmer's market we can have more Americans own, love, care for our beautiful lands versus large corporations or worse, foreign companies owning American land. Thank you for the video.

There are some additional benefits to being part of farm credit. I can't speak for all states, but in South Carolina if the interest rates decrease they will do a simple interest rate adjustment document and your mortgage rate is then modified to the new lower rate. Its very simple and easy, and its not refinancing - its simply a rate adjustment. Also after you have been a member for a few years you will start receiving rebates based on the profitability of your farm credit system. This is based on their profitable and how much you paid during the year on your loan. In my case this averaged out to be about the same as one monthly payment each year. You're actually sharing in the profits by receiving a share of the profits. Farm Credit is a great asset to rural land owners!

That sounds like a good plan. In the past two years, working closely with a financial market specialist, I've builta six-figure diversified stock portfolio. Now, I aim to diversify even more this year.
Talking about a financial market specialist, do you consider anyone worthy of recommendations? I have about 10Ok to test the waters now that large cap stocks are at a discount
Same here!!! Though I started with as low as $7,000 AUD actually because it was my first time and it was Successful., She is a great personality in Australia 🇦🇺
When I bought my first house, interest was 10%. It sure dropped a lot as I refinanced through the years. But if the numbers work out at high interest, the numbers work.
We’ve had a lot of new farm startups shut down within 5 years in Kentucky. Priorities for most people are new vehicles, vacations, stuffing their garage, outbuildings and storage rentals full of “stuff”. Paying more to eat healthy- not a priority. Good luck.
I am very inspired by your initiative to take a new project and learn the ins and outs of a very rewarding experience. I am sending you an abundance of prosperity and growth for your business and future success. I am watching learning and following from afar. You go girl. 🎯💪🚀
It's amazing to see someone get through the unknown, trouble, and frustration to accomplish big things. Explain where the 30% down came from and how a 10 year loan is feasible? New to the videos and I seem to be missing where any prior money came from. It takes money to make money.
I too, am interested; i have just stumbled across this video; i kept seeing it pop up in my feed, and finally decided to watch in case the universe was trying to send me a msg.

If youre into agriculture or are a farmer, the last thing you want is getting the government involved with what youre doing w/ your land. Just buy a small piece of land, you could yield a lot of crops with quarter acre.
I think there’s a new fad going on where influencers are buying little properties for way too much money and then making the payments by talking about the silly little stuff they do on their silly little homestead when in reality without the outside income from influencing or a high powered town job they could never make it work, and because of this it will inflate the prices of little properties even more because all their followers will envy them and want to do the same thing and go out and also buy a piece of ground for way too much money

Can't tell if you're trying to farm or homestead or both, but I hope you find a nice fellow to plow your fertile soil and start a family. If you're into that sort of thing 😂. Either way, good luck!
Thanks so much for the information you provided! I wasn't aware of the Farm Credit system and it might be very helpful toward achieving my goals on my 10 acres of mixed wooded and ag property. I'm looking at finding financing for a permanent house and ag tools (e.g., tractor) and this resource sounds like a viable option.
Thanks for the info. We may look into it. We have property already, but need a building for equipment and the current farmhouse is probably too far gone to fix up.
For myself, I need a min of 20 acres to have the room to grow food for my family, to sell, room for the animals in want to raise for my family and to sell, along with room to grow the food necessary to feed these animals and I will need room for my modest home, barn and other outbuildings plus onsite businesses that my family will be running.
You could breed dogs on that property also. My friend was getting into it, but his marriage fell apart. I can't recall how much each puppy would sell for, but I thought it was a lot.
Lending on land is not risky. Assume the land has a market value of $500k and they require 25% down. You give the bank $125k down, they lend you $375k at 9% plus their loan fees. So if you default in 5 years, they keep your $125k, take the land back along with any improvements, and then they resell the land for $500k. There isn’t even a structure that you can damage and drastically reduce the value of their asset.
Alexandra, you're amazing! I'm very interested in moving myself and my family back to upstate NY ASAP and finally fulfilling this dream. I emailed you this morning. Appreciate any insights and would just like to connect, one upstater to another!

When you say it like that, it comes off creepy. Try this next time. “Hey! your beautiful, and thank you for the great advice!” Done. short and simple and not creepy…
I always say "you don't look that bad...for a girl", that way the odds of them getting confused or laughing outweighs the risk of them getting offended.😊
I'd be interested in hearing how well you do with your pumpkin stand. I remember going through pumpkin patches as a kid around this time and it was fun. I've just been amazed at what some women have been able to accomplish alone in a gardening/farming capacity.
Great advice! I need to look into some of the grant programs for planting trees. I just moved into 16 acres in Stillwater and have been trying to grow all kinds of fruit trees. (The deer have been a bit of a problem though)

@@FirstNumber1 awww, yep I am totally cool with aging the way God intended lol!
I came across your channel through this video-
case studies are incredibly valuable, and I'm eager
to see more in the future! Building wealth involves
establishing routines, like consistently setting aside
funds at regular intervals for smart investments.
That sounds like a good plan. In the past two
years, working closely with a financial market
specialist, I've builta six-figure diversified
stock portfolio. Now, I aim to diversify even
more this year.
Talking about a financial market specialist, do
you consider anyone worthy of
recommendations? I have about 10Ok to test
the waters now that large cap stocks are at a
discount
Ms Martha Ann Hammerton was my hope during the

I was skeptical at first till I decided to try. Its huge returns is awesome.
Same here!!! Though I started with as low as $7,000 AUD
actually because it was my first time and it

Thank you so much!
At the beginning of the video, she said it's her fifth land transaction...
Love Farm Credit. They also give construction loans.
I'm vegan, and been wanting to buy lots of acres to create a sanctuary for bees, animals, and plants. Also want to grow food that yield meat alternatives to support companies thrive the movement. Im in texas and run 2 businesses, once I have plenty saved and sell my business, i will start my dream. You are very inspiring, I HOPE YOU LIVE THE BEST LIFE , AND MAY YOUR HIGHER POWER ALWAYS PROTECT YOU 🙏
Thank you so much ❤❤
Good work, Fasulo! You are an INSPIRATION!! We love you!!
Thank you ❤
If youre into agriculture or are a farmer, the last thing you want is getting the government involved with what youre doing w/ your land. Just buy a small piece of land, you could yield a lot of crops with quarter acre.
Don't be afraid of that tractor. You'll love it.
This is so great you shared. Im so excited i found your channel
You’re great. Keep coming with the information I’m looking into farm credit now
These videos are so dope! I love your passion for agriculture. We need more like us!
Loved the two videos I've watched so far and they are very direct and informative. I like that the videos are not to long. Some videos are sooooo long I get bored and change to another channel. You provide just the right amount of good information in a short period of time.
Thanks !!!!
@@shammysheds5201 I am glad you like them!
Great channel. Very informative. Subscribed.
Glad to have you here!
This is so cool! I stumbled on your channel by accident and I am totally impressed! You are quite the entrepreneur and an inspiration . I live on rural land and I am currently working on plans for gardening, be more self sufficient with power, and God willing , break free from the daily grind by this coming spring. You have a new subscriber and I look forward to watching more videos. I wish you well with your new adventure!
You just popped up on my feed. Interesting stuff. You do a very good job of explaining things. I'll be watching more of your videos. Thx for sharing.
@@scoobiedoo2517 my pleasure!!
Please do a video breaking down what you made from the farm store. This is so cool, congrats!
@@jesseyentsch5493 I am going to today!
Thanks for sharing. I sold my rental properties, and I am considering farming since the Texas Veterans Commission has programs to help US military retirees/veterans.
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸
You are amazing! Thank you! Love Eliot
Excellent info! Your videos are so helpful! I appreciate it!!! 😊
Hi Alexandria my name is Tony I cannot believe that I came across your videos you are heaven sent because the pandemic wiped me out and I am looking to get property and do homesteading and business out of I am a businessman previously in construction apparently I am destitute I totally appreciate the information that you have passed on I am going to utilize it and regain my status I want to thank you from the bottom now my whole heart for you coming to me at a time like this but unfortunately I happen to be technically challenged so it's going to be a little difficult for me to do that stuff I will succeed and I want to thank you for you and may God bless you I will continue checking out your videos and I also would love to be able to help you with your endeavor so be safe take care of yourself have a good evening and pleasant dreams
Thank you so much Tony ❤
Can't tell if you're trying to farm or homestead or both, but I hope you find a nice fellow to plow your fertile soil and start a family. If you're into that sort of thing 😂. Either way, good luck!
What a sweet girl…. I’m so happy for you 😊…
Grants aka control aka less personal freedom. No free lunch. Self sufficiency is liberating.
I love it! Would love to see a breakdown and economics of the farm stand that would be awesome and a great learning experience
@@PetersonChevy just filmed! I’ll post Sunday or Monday! Stay tuned ♥️👩🏻🌾
Congratulations, beautiful place!!
Love it, Alexandra!!!
I think there is zoning where i am that says no livestock on less than 5 acres. Good job on the channel, new sub.
That could be! I’m zoned for 4 large animals on my land
Thank you, keep working.
Good video! Lots of great information, Thanks!
Thanks for the info. We may look into it. We have property already, but need a building for equipment and the current farmhouse is probably too far gone to fix up.
Amazing!! Your man will be so happy and proud!
Incredibly valuable information!
I was "told" i could not buy land as a first time home buyer in Texas
You are such a blessing!!!
For myself, I need a min of 20 acres to have the room
to grow food for my family, to sell, room for the animals
in want to raise for my family and to sell, along with room
to grow the food necessary to feed these animals and I will
need room for my modest home, barn and other outbuildings
plus onsite businesses that my family will be running.
Farming is no art but hard work very hard but satisfying work
Living the dream. So, jealous. (In a motivating type of way.)
Siempre andamos positivo 😎👍
Love it. Thanks for the inspirational vid.
Alexandra, you're amazing! I'm very interested in moving myself and my family back to upstate NY ASAP and finally fulfilling this dream. I emailed you this morning. Appreciate any insights and would just like to connect, one upstater to another!
This is a psyop. In 1 minute, she has me considering dropping everything, moving to the middle of nowhere, to do work I’ve never done once in my life. Just cus she’s cute with a turtleneck….😐
Get your shit together! 😂
Lmao I feel that but also seriously considering this stuff. Being a farmer would be awesome.
I really like you!!! Great information
I hate saying this, because you might take it like Im a creepy dude, I just wish to compliment you for all you've managed to find out on your own, you've basically educated yourself on buying property & building a place & starting a business - which is very impressive for anyone to accomplish - plus you are attractive in a cool way.
@@SpringfieldTony I appreciate that, thank you!
When you say it like that, it comes off creepy. Try this next time. “Hey! your beautiful, and thank you for the great advice!”
Done. short and simple and not creepy…
@@6JAM4thanks for the recommendation! It’s weird being gen x male interacting w women these days. Wasn’t like that even 5 years ago 😅 Cheers!
I always say "you don't look that bad...for a girl", that way the odds of them getting confused or laughing outweighs the risk of them getting offended.😊
*tips fedora*
thx for motivation I aspire to do sum like this in Florida and Detroit
I'd be interested in hearing how well you do with your pumpkin stand. I remember going through pumpkin patches as a kid around this time and it was fun. I've just been amazed at what some women have been able to accomplish alone in a gardening/farming capacity.
Posting a video on this here tomorrow or Monday!
I had no idea about farm credit. I just subscribed because I've thought about living the farm life before and can't wait to watch your journey!
My wife and i have been dying to do exactly what you are doing, but we feel so crazy stuck like a 4 wheeler just spining all 4 tires in the same spot.
Great advice! I need to look into some of the grant programs for planting trees. I just moved into 16 acres in Stillwater and have been trying to grow all kinds of fruit trees. (The deer have been a bit of a problem though)
Oh you're my neighbor then!! Hi!
@@AlexandraFasuloBiz Yes! I bought the biggest pumpkin Hewitt's had, but I'll have to come and get a few more from your farm stand.
I would rent an acre from Alexandra to grow a specialty crop like small white pumpkins. 300 a month or half of the profit. Should profit 10.
Smart.... beautiful 😍 ...... smart lol. Videos like this give me hope in America 🇺🇸 hahaha thank you
Thank you for sharing!
May I know How much loan you have taken and at what interest rate? and do they ask for collateral?
What are the taxes? What are all the crops your going to grow? Do you talk to the other farmers in your area? You should interview some with good questions.
