Looks exactly like my bearcat Steiger I bought on an auction for $5,000 ran it for 12 years and got $5,500 for it when I traded it they make good tractors
You just gotta like those old school Steigers!! As a kid in the UK I grew up on a farm back in the 80s that ran a Bearcat ST225 and a Wildcat ST210. They used to pull a 9 leg subsoiler, 18' discs, 25' cultivator and 10 furrow ploughs. I could always tell the difference between them just by the engine noise. One had a CAT engine and one a Cummins. Used to love watching those old beasts going up and down the fields. Happy Days!!!!

When I was a farmhand we had the one 2870 Case which pulled a 30` john deere disk ,25` john deere do`all and a 8 row ripper-hipper bedder) it had single wide tires and had 80% fluid in the front and 60% fluid in the rear tires ,and the 8630 John Deere pulled the 25` john deere disk, 11shank john deere ripper all the way to the beam, it ran 20`8x38 firestone rice &canes duals. Miss them old tractors,2-4020 1 1969 the other 1972 was the planter tractor (8 row john deere) ,2 - 4320 1 with 20`8 34 (single) the other ran 18`4x38 (Goodyear )duals rice & canes which pulled a 19`international disk. Enjoy watching .

If you haven’t been there already I’d suggest you go to Rollag, MN on Labor Day Weekend for the Steam Threshers Reunion. They have a new display of Steiger tractors there which is definitely worth checking out. Of course the whole reunion is a great way to spend a day or a weekend.
In Romania we had tractors modelled exactly after this Steiger. They were called UTB A-1800 and they were the biggest tractors built here. From what I know, UTB is know in America, but only for small tractor models.

@@bigtractorpower C L LN Ford early models using Cat 1160 were f 900s if I remember correctly these were a pain to work on. You had to about stand on your head because they were so deep I the frame. Pulling a 1160 out of one of these was miserable,guess that’s why I have so much back trouble.
We have 4 on our farm actually just picked one up today 2 of them are red though and only 3 are operational we have a cougar 1000, a kr-1280 a 9180 and we just got a 9150 great machines

Then they would push rail cars for co-op with it when the blade was on. Grandpa also had a ford 8600 turbo with a krause 18ft disk and that's how they disked all the acres was with a 18 footer.
I thinks it's what's known in the English language as a "misnomer" as you're not so much "breaking up compaction"(implying heavy equipment has turned your ground into the arable land equivalent of concrete) but is in fact a form of "aeration" meaning literally ripping the soil "up and out" to alow it to soak up all forms of nutrients but obviously and most importantly of course water (create water retention). So absolutely I agree with the other answers here about preventing water run off but also there is the added benefit of creating a good habitat for earth worms which while reviled by most in the hard core pure Western eco folk is credited with by being brought over from Western Europe to creating the most arable land on Earth here in the ye olde USA. Nothing says best composting ever than the lowly Earthworm...and makes for the best fish bait ever as well...but our friend the worm needs air to breathe and this sure looks to me exactly what this tractor implement combo is in fact delivering. Just my theory anyways..
A older man that my father helps out every now and then has a 310 hp Steiger panther the he uses every once and a while to do a bit of cultivation work
A really awesome looking tractor I could see in a couple spots in the video that the ground is pretty come back to it because the tractor seem to be losing speed and slipping a little bit forcing the operator to raise up the employment a little bit
I remember as a kid we put those exact tire style that are on the first tractor,on a White 4-225 in the Fall of a wet year…6 hours later my old man called them to take them off because they SUCKED! We switched to a standard 23* tire tread and walked effortlessly through the wet fields …

It is always interesting to see the development of engines and how they held up over time. There were so many V8 tractors and combines in the 70’s and by the mid 80’s V8 agriculture powered machinery was all but discontinued. Thank you for watching.

@@GunsmithLC The farmer told the owner at the local JD dealership that he wanted to pull a 10 bottom white high clearance just as fast uphill as going downhill , and if JD didn't make a tractor that could , he would find one elsewhere , and he did .Cheaper .

Very cool on the STX325. The Wildcat was Steigers original STX325 size tractor 😁. This size started with the Wildcat I in 1969, the Super Wildcat II, the Wildcat III, Wildcat 1000, Case IH 9110, 9210, 9310, STX275, STX280, 280, 285, 350 and 370 are the direct progression of small frames. The STX325 would follow from the PUMA 1000 up.
@@bigtractorpower It would be a good tractor except the caps injection pump it’s been replaced 3 times in 2 years. Case IH should of kept them simple. When it’s running it a great tractor lots of power and a nice ride.

8630 could never pull an 11 shank sub soiler, by ripper you must mean a chisel plow. I owned an 8630 they were a gutless wonder

This size 4wd was built for farms with as little as 200 acres. They changed scale of farming in the 1970’s.

I rebuilt many 1160 and 3208 Cats back in the 70s at a Ford truck dealership in Charlotte NC. I’m retired and the dealership is out of business now.

My grandpa had a Steiger Bearcat 2 with a 3208 cat in it. He bought it used with a willbeck 11 shank chisel plow and a 31ft bush hog field cultivator

We hate them too, we love our michlens, hate the Goodyear’s, stones are good, don’t want to cut the check on some new tires yet

Tractors have become much quieter over the years. This 1976 Wildcat III is much quieter and smoother than the 1969 Wildcat I.
