Haven't played or watched anything remotely related to undertale in years, this came across my recommended today. I ended up watching it all in one sitting. Didn't even realize how much time had passed until I reached the credits. I loved the story and art style, this whole thing was really nostalgic. I'm super impressed by the soundtrack and animation, everyone working on this project has done an amazing job.

I think it’s because of error and ink being almost opposite poles (the artistic and the digital) they are animated very differently, error being at more fps and more digital-y and ink being practically a frame-by-frame

rewatching xtale and underverse after few years has passed, back then my iq was too low to understand the story and got really confused. now rewatching this as a comic artist (self-claimed) myself, im able to understand the story from a writer's perspective. nostalgia and goosebump all over my childhood. not to mention the animation is comparable with any of the animes nowadays.
We all have to realize that if toby never came up with undertale, masterpieces like this wouldn't exist. its like what goner kid talks about but instead of you not existing, the creator never comes up with the idea, so said idea is never created. If it wasn't for toby, all these alternate sans' wouldn't exist. Thank god toby decided to make undertale, its still a great game even to this day.
Pretty sure they meant that without Undertale to inspire people to do fan created work, they wouldn't exist because nothing could have gave them the idea. Due to Undertale being so unique/good,/whatever people wanted to do more so... they did. That and they said Undertale is good (though that could have been added later since the comment was edited). Without the initial idea fan projects, regardless of quality, can't happen. It's like somebody making a really tasty cake (which, prior to that point, you'd somehow never heard of a "cake") giving you the idea to try making your own.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the designs of Xtale characters? They all have pretty original designs and you can easily recognize each silhouette. They still resemble the originals as well. Good job, Jakei!

And, it’s amazing that each and every cast of character is created separately and different creators and times.. It’s amazing and so stunning how they have fit in one narrative.They have managed to get their characterization accurately and also even with the interactions and dynamics of the characters. Even though , they’re sanses and alternatives of the undertale cast they have different morals, gray , white and black! And you’re right they have their goals and mindsets! I don’t even consider or see some of the characters as some alternate versions!

I’ve loved UnderTale every since it came out but I left the fandom a long while ago because of all the toxic people but I couldn’t stay away for too long because of all the amazing fan series like this. Here I am now, rewatching Underverse after ages.

Holy cow this WHOLE SERIES, as well as hundreds of thousands of Undertale series and animations were a huge part of my childhood. I love returning to these, they just keep unlocking core memories I've long set aside.

and the small pieces of foreshadowing too! one example would be frisk giving sans the deluxe limited edition ketchup bottle, and it became relevant to being what stops him from being slashed by the x-event :D
I- I missed this fandom. I left it for a long time, but rejoined this year. My friend actually drew 5 of us(including her) as characters. I was cross, and I understand why now.
Well to be fair, they were provided with the sort of material they need. The original Undertale provided them with characters and general philosophy; the endless fangames that provide them with further characters and a link between them all; stories behind each timeline used. All they really needed to do was be creative in how to execute, which they absolutely nailed, and it's still an impressive feat. I mean, it isn't everyday that you see something that combines the cannon with non cannon and actually doesn't make it cringy. It's why I love this. It's like a child's idea but executed with professionalism
@@overse7938 Well, Chara just wants to rebuild his home. But...taking parts from other AUs? That's just wrong. And the way he acts? That's signs of villainy, and his actions prove my point further. Working with Nightmare Sans is the icing on the cake of a villain. They work with other villains. Meanwhile, Cross just wants to be left alone, while rebuilding his home. He has a stern belief that Ink Sans refused to rebuild his home, and that leads to anger, even hatred. And it was left alone for so long that Cross thinks of Ink as an enemy. If the anger had been dealt with sooner - and I mean, MUCH sooner - then Cross might've been able to reason with the others instead of resorting to taking pieces from other AUs
this is such a beautifully executed story. back in a day it was extremely difficult to understand, all the character's motives and backstories, constant lack of information, just hints about something i couldn't understand or piece together.literally " i have no idea what you're talking about but this is very interesting" after Xtale got animated, and after watching it, it does indeed makes more sense. and lots of lines and character actions hit different. it's impressive to me how you kept so much information untold, slowly revealing some of it. i was on floor how great 0.4 was back when it came out, i'm no less impressed by it now. the script, the collision of everything, to how beautifully you animated everything. it just looks so pretty. the credits song almost brought tears to my eyes, it's so bittersweet.. it really captures Cros's personality and story perfectly.
Anybody coming back to see this before it's possibly ended? (I haven't been able to stop crying, I'm gonna miss this) And jael, if by chance you see this, stay determined!! People always just want something to complain about and I don't fully know the beef, but the fandoms tend to find a way to drive people out and ruin it, I hope that whatever happens you have a good life and let the haters hate, they won't stop for anything so you might as well be happy!!! I just wanna say, credit to the animator. Because some people dont realize that 2 hrs of animation can take months- to even years and the artstyle is so good. And also i love the fact that thats how ink cannonicly especially when he is emotionless. And once agian, credit to that animator cuz i cannot stress it enough, art is such a hard thing and it can take 7 hrs for 5 sec of animation, AND THATS NOT INCLUDING THE BACKROUND-. After all these years i finally caved and started watching Underverse. My only complaint is that i didnt start watching this sooner! Great art, interesting story, the aus are portrayed amazingly. Just wow
I've known about Underverse for a while, pretty much since I really got into the fandom after the game. The only reason I never watched before now was bc I KNEW it was going to be chalk full of depression and I WAS RIGHT! But was it worth it though? As much as I wish I could say no... yes, as depressing as this whole trip's been its also been worth it. (Especially for Error!! He was my favorite throughout the whole story, mans was just chilling about and trying to do his job 😭)

This is something that I can never get tired from. Like IT'S SO GOOD! The art, the animation, it's ALL GOOD! THE FACT THAT ONE PERSON ANIMATES THIS TOO MAKES IT EVEN MORE AMAZING! When you think about it, X!Chara's story is probably the most tragic of them all. [Spoilers if you didn't watch the whole thing yet] I mean,they were trapped as an experiment for years in someone else's body and driven to the point where they were wishing for death,and when finally given freedom they wanted to fuse the best of all the timelines together in hopes of creating a world where they can be happy,only for them to trip once and lose everything they've worked so hard for for years. Truly a brilliant Story.

god what a blast from the past. i remember i was moving right before 6th grade and new episodes were being made. my friends would come over to help move stuff but wed just watch what episodes were out at the time on repeat in my room and get nothing done XD. such a wonderful series and im happy to rewatch it again after all these years. amazing work.
The best part is, that wasn't even the intention. Jael said that she wasn't fully aware of Ink's backstory when she animated that segment, that's why she made sure it was XGaster's vial the second time. Unintentional foreshadowing

XGaster's motivation to create the perfect story led him to stop caring about the people around him. Cross' desire to restore his world caused him to irreparably damage other worlds. Ink's excitement at XGaster's story caused him to betray the other Sanses. And Error's enmity with Ink caused him to ruin half the multiverse. So basically no one in Underverse is really a 'good guy'

Well to be fair, they were provided with the sort of material they need. The original Undertale provided them with characters and general philosophy; the endless fangames that provide them with further characters and a link between them all; stories behind each timeline used. All they really needed to do was be creative in how to execute, which they absolutely nailed, and it's still an impressive feat. I mean, it isn't everyday that you see something that combines the cannon with non cannon and actually doesn't make it cringy. It's why I love this. It's like a child's idea but executed with professionalism

Working with Nightmare Sans is the icing on the cake of a villain. They work with other villains. Meanwhile, Cross just wants to be left alone, while rebuilding his home. He has a stern belief that Ink Sans refused to rebuild his home, and that leads to anger, even hatred. And it was left alone for so long that Cross thinks of Ink as an enemy. If the anger had been dealt with sooner - and I mean, MUCH sooner - then Cross might've been able to reason with the others instead of resorting to taking pieces from other AUs
this is such a beautifully executed story. back in a day it was extremely difficult to understand, all the character's motives and backstories, constant lack of information, just hints about something i couldn't understand or piece together.literally " i have no idea what you're talking about but this is very interesting" after Xtale got animated, and after watching it, it does indeed makes more sense. and lots of lines and character actions hit different. it's impressive to me how you kept so much information untold, slowly revealing some of it. i was on floor how great 0.4 was back when it came out, i'm no less impressed by it now. the script, the collision of everything, to how beautifully you animated everything. it just looks so pretty.
the credits song almost brought tears to my eyes, it's so bittersweet.. it really captures Cros's personality and story perfectly.

I just wanna say, credit to the animator. Because some people dont realize that 2 hrs of animation can take months- to even years and the artstyle is so good. And also i love the fact that thats how ink cannonicly especially when he is emotionless. And once agian, credit to that animator cuz i cannot stress it enough, art is such a hard thing and it can take 7 hrs for 5 sec of animation, AND THATS NOT INCLUDING THE BACKROUND-. What im tryna say is that animators are underrated and dont get enough recognition or respect. I've known about Underverse for a while, pretty much since I really got into the fandom after the game. The only reason I never watched before now was bc I KNEW it was going to be chalk full of depression and I WAS RIGHT! But was it worth it though? As much as I wish I could say no... yes, as depressing as this whole trip's been its also been worth it. (Especially for Error!! He was my favorite throughout the whole story, mans was just chilling about and trying to do his job 😭)

When you think about it, X!Chara's story is probably the most tragic of them all.
[Spoilers if you didn't watch the whole thing yet]
I mean,they were trapped as an experiment for years in someone else's body and driven to the point where they were wishing for death,and when finally given freedom they wanted to fuse the best of all the timelines together in hopes of creating a world where they can be happy,only for them to trip once and lose everything they've worked so hard for for years.

XGaster's motivation to create the perfect story led him to stop caring about the people around him.
Cross' desire to restore his world caused him to irreparably damage other worlds.
Ink's excitement at XGaster's story caused him to betray the other Sanses.
And Error's enmity with Ink caused him to ruin half the multiverse.
So basically no one in Underverse is really a 'good guy'
