It’s so sad that Gaster’s Mission for constantly overwriting went from loving Chara and Frisk and wanting the best for them to just wanting a perfect timeline to satisfy him and not even caring for the two children. He has so much character development throughout the whole movie and it’s so sad that there was no one to actually stop and tell him about his mistakes until it was too late for him to go back.

XGaster has to be my favorite villain of all time. The build-up for him was literal years long and so well-done and when I finally saw him in XTale, I was horrified in the best way, and in Underverse Season 2 he’s still just as good imo.

I like XGaster in the same sense that I like Flowey. I like Flowey for his reflection of me as a player. But XGaster... he reflects me as a writer. As someone who wants their stories, their characters, and their worlds to be the best they can possibly be. As a player and a writer. I am guilty of taking both to their extremes.
I feel the same. Occasionally, I see my character's position in power compared to me. I can ruin their life by overwriting past events to make them violent. Unlike in XTALE, they can't do anything about it. They can't extend through the manuscript to kill their creator. They are absolutely at the mercy of me: the writer. While undertale is about the power difference between a video game character and a gamer, underverse is about the power difference between a book character and an author.
so cross killed them all to get the overwrite power to fix everything and to go back to a peaceful timeline but his monster soul didn't allow him to use overwrite so it was all a waste and he ended up in the void with chara. DAMN ;-;

going back a couple years later and watching this with a critical lens, i can safely say that this is written extremely well. everything makes sense and is conveyed in an emotionally enticing manor. props to not only the animation but the writing and wordbuilding too 👏
Same, I was thinking about some of the scenes, realized I forgot the logic and order behind them, then rewatched this whole thing in one go. Honestly, everything just hurts more all in one go cause you don't forget the context and subtle details in-between waiting for months or years. This has inspired me to rewatch season 1 and all of season 2 that's been made so far as well, but I think I'll have to do that tomorrow (^ ^') Either way, it was neat finding a comment not from a year or two ago.
Can't lie but with everything Frisk and Chara went through in this would literally be one of the worst tortures to endure. It even broke Frisk to his core.
And Chara lost his mind but every single Chara does this at some point so yeah. Frisk however really lost his determination to live which is kinda lame to be honest and he was never main character ever again but just a vessel for Chara and then replaced by Cross
Yeah Xtale story is near perfect rivals joker 2019 Two kids had the best life with this power turns into the worst experiences and a prison due to a perfectionist who don’t know what universe he will think is perfect and keeps spamming overwrite in hopes of that ignoring the two kids who remembers Gaster or antagonist is genius he has a reason why he is doing it he keeps pressing overwrite and have no patience at all he only waits when he’s forced to due to finding something more interesting which is why he does the most cruel things possible quickly Gaster messed up once those kids have the power of a reset he had a quick victory and the two kids were now in one body while sharing gaster blood That’s where gaster messed up and one kid gotten lucky that escapes frisk is erased gone only chara survives and cross with a erased universe by cross trying to do the right thing.
I'm crying over this, jeez. You really captured a lot of the raw detached energy of a creator trying to make a compelling story, but then how terribly that affects the creations if they could fight back, talk back. And Cross... oh my sweet boy, Cross. ;---; I'm crying for the two humans and for Cross and for all of the creations so much. Your storytelling is amazing.

This was truly an emotional roller coaster, we went from a happy and joyful beginning with some speed bumps, to downright sadness and despair, all leading up to the start of UNDERVERSE Overall a *perfect* prequel Edit: a year later I realized it’s prequel, not sequel
Muffet is so awesome here. She already dislikes Chara for his arachnophobia, and it turned to outright hate for the siblings after controlled!Frisk utterly trashed her, her bakery and her customers. Yet all it took was a simple note from Alphys for her to drop the hate, save Chara and convince him to rebel against XGaster's control of their lives.

This really is just beautiful. It's not even just the animation either. The story talent that Jael Palezona/Jakei has is amazing to see. I plan on an animation at some point, but man if it's half this good it was a fluke. THIS is a masterpiece.
It’s interesting delving into the story of Xtale itself. It’s existence was absolutely known, Underverse eluded to it very often, but to know more about the characters themselves is much better.
All this hype for Underverse and Underverse WAS AMAZING!!! Cross messing with other stories and Ink and Dream and Error, Nightmare, Sans, Core Frisk and and all the fight and the overwrite button IT WAS FANTASTIC
There are so many times I screamed while watching this. When I saw the overlapping names and the "This will make your life a living hell." on the option to name yourself "Frisk" (a nod to the unfinished "hard mode" of Undertale, achieved by naming yourself Frisk) I was suddenly hit with the realization of: "Oh my god, this spawned from a video indie game that can be completed in roughly 3 hours. Oh my god every single AU featured in Underverse is the collective create conscious of inspired artists and writers that spwaned from a roughly 3 hour long video game. Oh my god this MOVIE I just watched was made by a single, tiny group of people, inspired by a tiny game, made by a tiny group of people." Getting a grasp on how many years and how much dedication this took, and the create wiritng genius it takes to make the entire story connect full circle? Its crazy. Its beautiful. Its a masterpiece. Its perfect... too perfect, guess I have to [Overwrite].

Ok real talk for a moment: This underverse video has been in my recomended list since forever. I never wanted to watch it because it looked like the most chaotic concept of an undertale story ever... Well i gave in eventually. And I cant believe how good this is. I actually cant believe it. And im not just talking about the fact that this is animated. The story is ACTUALLY GOOD! Im so glad i finally watched it. Thank you for creating this!
I find this really sad, XGaster called frisk and chara "kids" or "children" seeing the two brothers as people beings that have emotions. He once saw them as HIS KIDS! Later on he saw them as "experiments" he no longer saw them has intelligent creatures that feel. I so sad that some people, like myself, can feel that. Feel that they no longer are a person on their own, but are made for someone else. That they live no longer for themself but for someone else.
the wiki says that OVERWRITE is corruptive. it's possible that as time goes on that corruption strengthens making a wider disconnect between Xgaster and his morals

X!Gaster is basically a au animator trying to make the best "story" and "au" out there. This is basically just someone irl trying to make the best au. Then failing restarting, again and again until they get the best "story"
Such a great series, so many memories and so much work has been put into it, still cant believe just how dedicated or perhaps even... DETERMINATED you were to stick so long to this incredible project and finally be putting the pieces togheter for a phenomenal end.
Guys, guys, guys. I took the background noise at the end of the movie (during the Entry Number Eleven scene), and sped it up on Audacity until I could start hearing a tune. It's the first few notes of "Dream Presage" by NyxTheShield. Which is also a part of XGaster's theme in the series. Man... that's genius. And quite freaky.
I don't think I've ever been so incredibly impressed with a piece of fan media before, end statement. Not only is the animation INCREDIBLE and so fluid, so emotional, and the character designs are spectacular to boot. The MUSIC and the sound design had me on the edge of my seat and sending me sprawling in my chair every time something happened. Every scene transition felt like a slap to my face. I'm someone coming from another video series that mentioned this one, so I watched it with only the context that video provided (very minimal and left me craving the video itself), and by god, I was not disappointed. This is the first time I've interacted with Undertale in a few long years, but everything about this video came screaming back to me and hammering on the insides of my skull, reminding me of the worlds and fanart and Tumblr blogs that I loved to browse back in the day. And though it wasn't too long ago, this made me feel such heavy nostalgia and agony over what I didn't realize I was missing. Thank you for this incredible concept, and such an emotional ride of ups and downs. My lack of context I think added to the experience of this whole thing, and I'm excited to watch your Season 1 video of Underverse to find out what I missed.
I just rewatching this again after a long break because of study. And... Idk... I can't explain it. I just... Truly enjoy this au. From the characters, the fighting scene and to the story... I really want to know about more about this perfect universe that Gaster wants to get. You never fail to amaze me jael.

Y'know why XGaster works as a villain so well? Because we can see reflection of ourselves as artists, as writers, and as creators in him... In the exact same way that you see a reflection of yourself in Flowey as the "player" while playing Undertale. He is the type of villain that is nearly the same, and yet so different in their obsessions. They're reflections of what we can become and how we hurt ourselves in out strives to be "perfect" and to escape boredom. They convey how someone's ideals can change for the worst, and they're both so beautifully written.

Like, i get it could have been chara's idea and influenced frisk on it and then they made sans do all this but then again, their idea was to make everyone recover their memories and willingly take him down, why did sans cause the end of his world? Why SANS? (I mean i get he of all people would be the one with the personality to pull this through and not make it look forced but what is his motive?) He did not support all this hatred to his father. And the second reason... He did not like the fact that in any case he would be controlled by someone. It doesn't matter if it's Frisk or Gaster, he wanted to change this timeline on his own. But, well... This idea ended up being... *not a very good one*
I love the story here. The characters are well done with new unique abilities. Muffet is adorable and I love her. Then again, almost everyone is cute in a way and all are likeable.

I feel the same. Occasionally, I see my character's position in power compared to me. I can ruin their life by overwriting past events to make them violent. Unlike in XTALE, they can't do anything about it. They can't extend through the manuscript to kill their creator. They are absolutely at the mercy of me: the writer.
While undertale is about the power difference between a video game character and a gamer, underverse is about the power difference between a book character and an author.

Same, I was thinking about some of the scenes, realized I forgot the logic and order behind them, then rewatched this whole thing in one go. Honestly, everything just hurts more all in one go cause you don't forget the context and subtle details in-between waiting for months or years. This has inspired me to rewatch season 1 and all of season 2 that's been made so far as well, but I think I'll have to do that tomorrow (^ ^')

Gaster or antagonist is genius he has a reason why he is doing it he keeps pressing overwrite and have no patience at all he only waits when he’s forced to due to finding something more interesting which is why he does the most cruel things possible quickly
Gaster messed up once those kids have the power of a reset he had a quick victory and the two kids were now in one body while sharing gaster blood
That’s where gaster messed up and one kid gotten lucky that escapes frisk is erased gone only chara survives and cross with a erased universe by cross trying to do the right thing.

This really is just beautiful. It's not even just the animation either. The story talent that Jael Palezona/Jakei has is amazing to see. I plan on an animation at some point, but man if it's half this good it was a fluke. THIS is a masterpiece.

Ok real talk for a moment: This underverse video has been in my recomended list since forever. I never wanted to watch it because it looked like the most chaotic concept of an undertale story ever... Well i gave in eventually. And I cant believe how good this is. I actually cant believe it. And im not just talking about the fact that this is animated. The story is ACTUALLY GOOD! Im so glad i finally watched it. Thank you for creating this!
I find this really sad, XGaster called frisk and chara "kids" or "children" seeing the two brothers as people beings that have emotions. He once saw them as HIS KIDS! Later on he saw them as "experiments" he no longer saw them has intelligent creatures that feel. I so sad that some people, like myself, can feel that. Feel that they no longer are a person on their own, but are made for someone else. That they live no longer for themself but for someone else.

It's the first few notes of "Dream Presage" by NyxTheShield. Which is also a part of XGaster's theme in the series.

I don't think I've ever been so incredibly impressed with a piece of fan media before, end statement. Not only is the animation INCREDIBLE and so fluid, so emotional, and the character designs are spectacular to boot. The MUSIC and the sound design had me on the edge of my seat and sending me sprawling in my chair every time something happened. Every scene transition felt like a slap to my face. I'm someone coming from another video series that mentioned this one, so I watched it with only the context that video provided (very minimal and left me craving the video itself), and by god, I was not disappointed.
This is the first time I've interacted with Undertale in a few long years, but everything about this video came screaming back to me and hammering on the insides of my skull, reminding me of the worlds and fanart and Tumblr blogs that I loved to browse back in the day. And though it wasn't too long ago, this made me feel such heavy nostalgia and agony over what I didn't realize I was missing.
Thank you for this incredible concept, and such an emotional ride of ups and downs. My lack of context I think added to the experience of this whole thing, and I'm excited to watch your Season 1 video of Underverse to find out what I missed.
So, what is your thoughts on underverse? Did you like aswell?
I just rewatching this again after a long break because of study. And... Idk... I can't explain it. I just... Truly enjoy this au. From the characters, the fighting scene and to the story... I really want to know about more about this perfect universe that Gaster wants to get. You never fail to amaze me jael.
OMG i found out what the last part meant guys, after like an hour i figured out what all all the hidden messages (wingdings) mean: 1:32:04 means "I AM WATCHING YOU". and the ending part, starting at 1:34:29 means this: "ENTRY NUMBER ELEVEN". then 1:34:43 means " AS CLEAR AS A REFLECT IN A MIRROR" then 1:34:58 means "I HAVE FOUND THE MOST PERFECT PROJECTION OF FORBIDDEN VISIONS" lastly 1:35:15 means "GET READY YOUR TIME IS COMING"

Y'know why XGaster works as a villain so well? Because we can see reflection of ourselves as artists, as writers, and as creators in him... In the exact same way that you see a reflection of yourself in Flowey as the "player" while playing Undertale. He is the type of villain that is nearly the same, and yet so different in their obsessions. They're reflections of what we can become and how we hurt ourselves in out strives to be "perfect" and to escape boredom. They convey how someone's ideals can change for the worst, and they're both so beautifully written.
This movie is literally just XGaster finding a good movie and then his employees got tired of his shenanigans

Yea about that, why sans of all people would decide to stand his ground like that and dust everyone? Like, i get it could have been chara's idea and influenced frisk on it and then they made sans do all this but then again, their idea was to make everyone recover their memories and willingly take him down, why did sans cause the end of his world? Why SANS? (I mean i get he of all people would be the one with the personality to pull this through and not make it look forced but what is his motive?) He stood up to everyone, damn even papyrus used his blasters (the purple ones with the scars i guess they are his since it was his arm going up before the blasters scene but they dont look to paps-like...STILL) Every single monter tried to knock some 'sence' into him eithier talking or kicking his ass but he still went for the kill and took chara's soul...

He did not support all this hatred to his father. And the second reason... He did not like the fact that in any case he would be controlled by someone. It doesn't matter if it's Frisk or Gaster, he wanted to change this timeline on his own. But, well... This idea ended up being... *not a very good one*

I love the story here. The characters are well done with new unique abilities. Muffet is adorable and I love her. Then again, almost everyone is cute in a way and all are likeable.
