This is fantastic news. I’m not an academic but a student, not in the official sense but as a stay at home mom who seeks to understand Islam more and more, it’s history, the science, and the lasting effects it’s had on the world.

You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allāh; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.
May Allah guide you to peace and prosperity and make your children prosperity,, healthy and obedient to parents.

Thanks for covering this. Not sure how I feel though. There is a part of me that is nervous about potential confusion being spread if proper Islamic vetting isn't taken. We already know the amount of confusion amongst Christians and Jews with respect to what to take literally and what to take metaphorically from the scriptures in light of modern science. Maybe high-level Muslim academics feel this lack of work from our tradition, however, the common Muslim out there doesn't feel this way. The common practicing Muslim doesn't see any conflict generally speaking, between science and Islam. Allah knows best.

Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example - that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, "What did Allah intend by this as an example?" He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient, (Al-Baqarah [2] : 26)

It would be interesting to have Imam Facchine and Dr Shoaib in a conversational episode after the series on Reinstating Orientalism is complete.
Dr Salman Sayyid comments in Recalling the Caliphate….science, logic and rationalism as a collective language (Westernese) and the effort to discover/invent/create our own language.
Not to undermine Dr. Shoaib’s efforts,It would be interesting to see if there is an opportunity to go beyond the epistemological boundaries and come up with new concepts and language (perhaps not even call Science…Science :) )

I had to go pack and painfully sit for 90 minutes listening to the guests video from a year ago about evolution and islam, i recommend to watch it before youvstart takingvthe guest or anythingvhe advocates or promotes seriously, i also felt to copy my comment in respobse tovthe earlier video here:
Thank you Paul for the good questions, my humble takeaway here is that your guest is a living, speaking proof of what is wrong with many things in this world. Among these things, the scientific community , Muslims seeking acceptance in the scientific community and cracking under the pressure, Muslims raised in the west. One important point as well, I always thought that the difference between Ashaari thought and salafi thought had to do with technicalities not encountered by the layman, but boy, pheww, that was eye opening, he basically brought together a Frankenstein of ideas that has no place in Islam ( Adam's offspring had sex with human like but not really human product of evolution), lucky for him he found a place for that in Ashaari thought ( if it is not outright denied on the Quran then it is a mtwakif matter). I think this guest is one of the weakest, if not the weakest arguments that came on your otherwise brilliant podcast.

Quran (18:60): Allah SWT said: (And recount to them the story of Moses) when Moses said to his servant: "I will journey on until I reach the point where the two rivers meet, though I may march on for ages.
When God told the prophet Moses that there's a man who has some knowledge that you don't have, Moses told his assistant boy that I will not rest (I'll keep walking) until I meet this man who has extra knowledge so he can teach me, even if I walk for years. AllahuAkbar, this is how the Muslims used to seek knowledge 👇👇

And we read in Buhkari that "Jabber ben Abdellah" who lives in al-Hijaz, heard a hadit of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, narrated by Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, The prophet said: "The people will be assembled on the Day of Resurrection barefooted, naked and uncircumcised".... And people told him that "Abdullah ibn Unais," who lives in al-Sham, heard the hadith from the prophet Muhammad. So Jabber traveled all the way to al-Sham on a camel in 30 days in the extreme heat of the desert🥵 just to meet him .Why, Jabber, would you do such a thing? Because of one hadith? You already know it... That's not what he wanted, he wanted to hear it from the man who heard it directly from the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
And now he has to go back to his home, spending another 30 days in the desert.

Fantastic. Looking forward to new streams and students in Islam and science. I think we need to think better. I remember Imran Khan who is currently in jail spoke and acted upon developing islamic academics including the history and science in his country Pakistan. Unfortunately that country is infested and ruined by her own corrupt army generals and the politicians.
