    I test drove both back to back, this seems pretty legit, you can definitely feel the weight difference, but launch on awd felt faster and this video depicts that pretty well imo

    I'm assuming the blue is AWD and white is RWD.
    This is the first RWD vs AWD video I've seen! Awesome to see, doesn't look like there's a huge difference like the RWD vs AWD-P but definitely noticeable! Thanks for posting this.

      Correct, the white one is RWD.

      Awd have 2 motors and rwd have one. Awd ~400 hp vs rwd ~280 hp. So this comparison is legit.

    I would bet the AWD would be much better than even here if it had performance tires and lower springs. At least in terms of absolute performance anyway, given that all three vehicles have the base tires and wheels, so I'd imagine relatively they'd all perform the same with better tires. I've got an AWD on order (trying my best to wait patiently!), and plan on getting better tires for it. This is getting me even more excited!
    Question: what's the fastest acceleration time that you've heard or seen from the AWD so far?

      I haven't seen any other times yet, but this one did a best of 12.666@111.39

      Hopefully you got your Mo.3 AWD already, but with lighter wheel setup (255 square would be excellent or staggered 235fr - 265rr the rear DU doesn't put out too much initial torque, it's the front DU), stickier tires, and basic tuned dropped suspension I've seen 4.2 seconds 0-60mph w/o 1 ft rollout. With a full treatment of 2 piece rotors (they make a massive difference on non Perf. cars), you could easily hit 4.1 maybe 4.0 flat because you save 12lbs front rotors, 15lbs+ rear rotors of rotational mass. With a modded RWD, I hit 4.6 seconds 0-60mph w/o 1 ft rollout. PMo.3 would recommend 245fr-285r.

      Somnium Sky Niceee. Are you using Dragy for times? If you’re serious and want to get lower times, it’ll be a little costly but worth it for a variety of reasons. First are the 2 piece brake rotors from Mountain Pass Performance. They’re amazing and will massively help braking plus shave off around 7lbs front (total) and 8lbs rear of rotational weight. Only issue is that you need 19” wheels. For wheels I went with Ace Alloy. They have amazing flow formed wheels that can be customized to specific Tesla specs, are load rated more than enough, price is very good, and are light. If you aren’t going after full track setup and want a good blend of practicality while still having the option for future more aggro tire changes 19x9.0~ all around is probably going to be good. That will allow you to run 245-255 all around for everyday with max 265 tires all around if you ever want to go track or w/e. I’m running 19x8.5 / 19x10” so weight wise I can guess that you’ll be about even. Ace Alloy wheels are around 19lbs @ 19x8.5”. Reason is from 18” your rim is super light, hard to beat unless you go with way more expensive sub- 15-18lbs forged wheels. But pretty much you’re gaining way more traction (with better tires too) for no weight gain. The 18” mxm4/primacy stock tires aren’t the best. If you did both those things, you should do 4.1~, maybe 4.0” on a good day. But more so, handling, braking, etc will be improved without losing practicality.

    so the awd is a bit quicker and has a bigger battery, but the hefty price tag is a no no. I got the RWD long range that does not drive itself but has a real world range of 574 km/356 miles with a pricetag of 40k in portugal

    pretty much what we all knew. AWD is faster during initial acceleration, largely because the RWD is held back via software and waiting to be uncorked... or not...

    • @chillcars
      @chillcars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The AWD was also +10MPH at the end, so it made up time all the way down the track. 10 MPH is a very notable difference in pull.

    • @kingprone7846
      @kingprone7846 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      im sure it was but i am also sure the RWD is being held back and in reality the difference between the speeds at such "low" torque should be less than 0.1-0.3 seconds.
