I am coming out of a highly modified 2019 Challenger Scat Pack and do not think i will ever go back to ICE. The instant torque i would take over anything along with the smoothness of this car for the price is unbeatable. And thats the point here Tesla has shown with the Plaid you can rock up and take out drag cars, to see what the M3 can do is so interesting and of course the 1/8th mile plays into the hands of EVs. On the street a M3 performance will just pull ahead of my "classic" 2012 design MS but thats not bad for a near 10 year old car that has been hammered all its life. Yep had a Plaid on order but cancelled as here in UK they wont do RHD and £100k+ for LHD not happening......still got a Roadster on order......live in hope!

@@RichOnTrack Ah yes. There's a lot of research that shows the KW output from an OBD2 connector apparently.
Basically 475 WHP is a cold/warm battery @ 90% SOC (state of charge)
However you can achieve up to around 600-610WHP with a 135F Battery @ 90% SOC as well apparently. I'm not 100% on this as I haven't had time to try it but they're using devices to record and track the exact KW discharge/output from the battery.
A pre heated battery @ 70% will be faster than a cold/warm battery @ 90%. So it's very important to warm/preheat the battery for racing.

The basic supercharged stock muscle cars like hellcats zl1 Camaros 700 Hp range on a drag radial will run high 6’s in 1/8 th . To beat a plaid you need atleast 1000 hp and 60 foot at least 1.4. That’s a rough estimate obviously depends on weight of your car . To give you an idea a new mustang 5.0 with just a supercharger/ fuel system 18 to 20 psi range was runing 5.8/5.9 at 123 last time I was there full weight street car drive anywhere . 1000 rwhp range

Thats just the electric motor doing its thing. Once the Tesla gets to about 110mph the acceleration drops off rapidly and the others just breeze past. Sure the Model S Plaid addresses that with much more power, but even that with the track pack fitted is 10 seconds slower around the Nurburgring than a BMW M4 CSL with half the power. That said i live in the UK where most motorway traffic is 75 mph or below. Petrol and diesel fuel economy is bad at 85 moh as well and most people don't want to pay that.
Also public chargers cost a lot in April, we've still got an energy crisis going on but it is improving. I charge at home and it cost me £10 for 130 miles.

this wasn't a full 1/4 mile, just a 1/8. The 1/8th mile track will favor the evs, the results would be different in the full 1/4th mile race.

Lambo is geared for top end, I had rather lose some acceleration and have a supercar top speed 200mph.

Then get a Plaid if you want to go 200 … For the price of your Lambo, you can buy a Plaid for yourself, a Model 3 for your wife, and still have enough left over to get your smoking-hot girlfriend a Model S.

Many RS, AMG, M, etc. vehicles eventually catch up. But it usually takes speeds over 85mph for them to do so, so it’s not really relevant in 99% of driving conditions. Model 3 wasn’t built for pulling at high speeds since drivers almost never will reach those speeds. The Model S Long Range is a different story, though. It has a faster 60-130 than most of the aforementioned vehicles, including the M5 Comp, E63s, etc.

In real world conditions the Model 3 stomps on most cars. On the autobahn not so much, but most of us don’t live in Germany. Where I live 0-100 kmh range is where it’s at and that is Model 3’s sweet spot.
