    This speeds up the work flow, compared to masks and layers, I don't see anything wrong in having this feature in Photoshop.

    Hello
    I was looking for the division of the tool shape in Photoshop, which you did not mention.
    For example, in a tract, I want to put 12 pieces of photos, how should I command it to create 12 forms?
    Thank you if you can answer

  • @bidibibip

    So i'm trying this as i watch the video and when i draw the frame with the frame tool selected, it just draws a frame in a new layer on top of the photo, it doesn't do what this lady's frame tool does i.e. convert the photo to a smart object and put it inside the frame... what am i doing wrong!?!?

  • @bruceaisher
    @bruceaisher 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This seems a lot more convoluted than just using a layer mask.

    This is great, but what if you have multiple frames within a single document but want them all to have separate images? These same directions cannot be applied to other frames created after the first.

  • @gamathecast
    @gamathecast 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Pretty sure they didnt combine ps and illustrator because that would end up being a really heavy program...
    love this new feature.

  • @ZacEckstein
    @ZacEckstein 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is a great new feature. It can of course be easily done in InDesign, since laying out physical documents is pretty much all frame work, but it was tough to do this in Photoshop if you didn't really know how the mask features work, especially with text.

  • @DirectorWD40

    Hi, great tutorial. Is there a way to create a Frame that would contain or reflect te content of other artworks indeed the file?

  • @markedwards42003
    @markedwards42003 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do I insert a drop shadow (or stroke) inside the smart frame? It only works with the image itself and the image isn't always the same size as the smart frame. I would like to add a border/drop shadow around the image using this method.

  • @crossightoverclothes
    @crossightoverclothes 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This would be cool if we could apply styles to the frame. When you apply styles to the layer, it applies it to the image that is clipped inside of the frame but not to the frame. I have to make it a single-layer group and then apply the styles to the group so that the styles are applied to the frame.

    I have been curious about getting a XP-Pen Deco 01 graphics tablet for photo editing in Lightroom and Photoshop. I am also slightly concerned that me having zero drawing or painting skills will translate to poor skills using a tablet. Does anyone have any experience with the drawing tablet for photoshop ?

    Nice descriptive video, now I understand what the new feature really does and how far it can go.
    What about an upgrade later: Image fill? Sometimes I just want to make a collage, like a grid of photos and I still have resize all of them to fit the shape.
    Keep it up with the good work.

    • @ZacEckstein
      @ZacEckstein 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of people don't use the mask tools in Photoshop often, so they can be a bit daunting and opaque. This solves that.

    • @motttta
      @motttta 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      After playing with it I understand it's a little bit more efficient. You don't have to unlock the masks to move the layers inside the masks, and lock it again, to move everything. It's less clicks. But apart from that, no difference as far as I can tell from just using path masks. It's alright I guess. No harm in having it.

    Okay I take it back. At first I was a jerk and left a mean comment, but this video is just not for beginners like me. However, if you watch and listen closely this is actually and awesome video and the best one for this question so far. I've been struggling for days just to put my art into a circle (or any shape for that matter) then make the background transparent so I can use it on merch. Thanks for this. Now I just have to figure out the best file to save as. Anyone know of a better way or have any tips or advice feel free to at me lol

    • @mikeramos2335

      You can just hold "Alt/Option" and click between two layers, an arrow will appear and the bottom one will mask the top. It does the same thing as a decade ago.

    • @sterimus

      Agree, it's just the Vector mask, but slower and with ugly black border. And exchange the position of mask and layer image in the layer panel, it's confusing. All other kind of mask is at right side.

      When I first started using CC19, the frame tool did not show up on my toolbar. I went to Edit>Toolbar. I found the frame tool in the "Extra Tools" column, and just moved it (left) to the Toolbar column. Voila. It "magically" appeared on my workspace toolbar.

    Seems like all the new features in PS are features that were/are in Illustrator, which is making PS a bloated application. I like the apps to be nimble, switch to illustrator to do graphic design and PS to do photography - photo enhancing

    This is a very useless feature that is being brought over from the other annoyingly peasky feature from InDesign. Instead of fixing how annoying it is on InDesign, they're bringing it here. In Photoshop we can already do all this with a mask and shape object. And it'd be more convenient that way because you can make whatever shape you like and not be limited to a square/circle.

    This feature sucks. Seriously sucks. Why did not you do it like in indesign? It should look and work like in InDesign. Why are you making similiar functions but working differently? How the hell when im trying to use it, this tool is grabbing HIDDEN LAYER into frame. Can you explain me this? This should make blank frame every time... Photoshop is getting worse and worse...
