This Frame Tool is great for Wedding Album Designers now they don't need 3rd party album software or plugin to make wedding album, Thank you Adobe Photoshop entire team and developers. Greatest news... Just need some more add support for adobe bridge to insert photos from bridge to frame and yes make possible to add multiple images in single drag n drop... 😎

SInce the update I did play a lot with the frame tool, i'm sold to it, so versatile, crazy all you can do with it, save so many step compare to the way, I had to do it before....
The only bug is: I can't move the frame icon on the tool bar, strange, it's sticked at the bottom of the tool bar.. May be, he like it there ...:) (PC/windows 7Pro)

That layer comp function looks promising... in theory.
I had a project this week where I've used this feature.
So I loaded 52 images in stack and I created that layer comp PSD (52 layer comps, a 1G file)
I select a frame and choose 'place from local disc-linked' and I load the big PSD.
It takes a while, but I was thinking that OK because I have to do this only once. Right?
Nooooo! For each frame you have to load the layer comp file again and again.
Sorry , I can do this much quicker by just dragging the right image in the frame.

    Hi,
Inside a photoshop file...Could you have an instance of a group from one Artwork in a different Artwork? Let's say you have a Photoshop that has two Frames… One is frame A: (400x400 px) and the other is frame B: (200x200)px. Is there a way to have in frame B a down scaled image of a group that is in frame A, so no matter what you change or make in frame A will show at at smaller size in frame B in real time?
The option could be called “Create Frame from group"

How do you make a tool preset and use it for frames. I have tried but not able to make it work. This is what i want : So i make a 4x6 frame. My canvas is A3. Now i should be able to with tool preset make the same 4x6 frames with one click. So i can place them on my A3 canvas and then add pictures for print. Do you know how to do this?

Thank you for this tutorial. However, you lost me within the first minute 30 seconds. How did you create the smart object layer and the pixel layer that are beneath your background layer. I feel like I missed some background information before you even started.

  • @janein6491

  • @KAZVorpal

So this is essentially a dumbed-down version of using an unlocked layer mask on a Smart Object.
Why would I do this instead?

i can't help but think that frames, vector masks and clipping masks should eventually be the same thing. Right now it feels like each of them have restrictions in a few niche cases, but are otherwise basically interchangeable. Sure, it will upset a lot of people if you'd remove one of the older concepts, but I really think Adobe should attempt to streamline similar tasks instead instead of adding something new for the sake of it. The question was not wether we needed Indesign-like frames, but rather do vector masks and clipping masks need a fundamental rework?

I dont see the need for frames to do what you should be using indesign or other publishing programs for. I can import a graphic and do all of this and clip to text etc without the frame. I think this is just adobe fishing for things to keep the sub model going, they can't find things to improve their photo program and are now integrating ideas from their other programs into it.

We should be better of if Adobe would test it's upgrades better then wasting their time to "Frames". The #*&% homescreen won't go away even when disabled in prefs. Also within calculations the invert checkbox stays on if you want to go to masks so you consider this coming back to calculations again. Blend-if is in since the beginning of time I think......you would think that someone would have come up with numeric settings when moving the sliders. Don't even want to begin of the fraud of RAW converter of ACR, the removed the 2010 setting in camera icon so you cannot see how crap it always has been all those years. 2010 gave more overexposed red but that wasn't too interesting to Adobe all that red so I think they flipt the highlights a bit not showing all that overexposed.
The only thing that raised PS is their own win in dollars when they went to CC. Still......have to use PS of it's calculations-selective color-channels-blend-if and apply image because they will never be a part of the wang-festival within a RAW converter
