Always professional, with just enough humour to keep it entertaining. You taught me PS, software I always wanted to master. Now after 18 months I have my first app on the App Store. I still have so much to learn. Thank you Aaron for all the perfectly pitched tutorials.

The reason that I've dropped many other PS tutorials and going with yours: Your supplemental on screen information graphics. Pacing of information delivery. Pleasant vocal tonality. Clear descriptions. If there's a way to highlight the cursor, that would be a game changer. Waste so much time pausing to see where you/the cursor are on the screen at times. All the best.

Can't see the utility of the Frame Tool, compared to simple Maks and Clipping Masks.... It isn't even easier to use or anything

That's because this is not how it's meant to be used, i think. It will be way more useful, if you want to place a lot of pictures (like in InDesign), then its way better than clipping masks.

As a quick tip for people that don't know you can also hold down the Alt / Option key and click between the two layers to create a clipping mask too.

Those that use InDesign will know what this is about.
It's more for designing layouts and quickly fitting external files into bounding boxes when you're designing something like a brochure or web page.

I think that the frame tool was designed for different use. For example it might be best for creating the template for portfolio/book design. Could you show how to do that including pdf export in photoshop ?

    Hi,
Inside a photoshop file...Could you have an instance of a group from one Artwork in a different Artwork? Let's say you have a Photoshop that has two Frames… One is frame A: (400x400 px) and the other is frame B: (200x200)px. Is there a way to have in frame B a downscaled image of a group that is in frame A, so no matter what you change or make in frame A will show at a smaller size in frame B in real-time?
The option could be called “Create Frame from group"

I feel the practically in this tool lies in it's ability to use as a place holder for images you'd want to put in a flyer or something. Personally I'd use InDesign but I think Adobe put this tool in Photoshop so you could create generic templates and replace/resize the images.

Aaron, great channel. Been subscribed for a while. This video prompted a random question about real life “framing”. I’m in the Chicago area and would love to print some of my work. I see you recommend bay photo. Do you have a suggestion in the Chicago area and do you do digital C-prints? I can’t seem to find a place in the Chicago area that does digital c-prints. Maybe that is overkill? Thanks for your help!

Hey Aaron, nice video! I'm an up-and-coming Graphic Design student and your videos are extremely helpful and easy to follow. For this video, I think the only thing missing is your opinion on when to use the Frame Tool over Clipping Masks. You elude to the fact that the Frame Tool is easy for beginners but I don't see myself ever using it when Clipping Masks make it so easy too. What are your thoughts? Is the Frame Tool justified when Clipping Masks already exist? Did Adobe need to make this? Why? If you can reply that would be really cool :) Thanks

Do you have PS pinned to the taskbar and launch it from there (as opposed to a desktop icon for instance)? The reason I ask is that when you update, PS2019 actually installs alongside PS2018 instead of overwriting it (both versions are installed and can be launched separately), so you will need to pin the 2019 version to your taskbar.

A dumbed down version of masking, makes no sense to do this. Personally I think its bad to introduce tools like this for beginners because all it will do is further confuse them, and make masks more difficult to understand. Why isnt Adobe learning its lesson from past mistakes? To use the pen tool or to use the lasso tool? To use the stamp tool or the various healing brushes? I think its way too convoluted of a toolbar and could be simplified to 3 or 4 tools that could do everything. Adobe needs to rethink their tool organization and interface!

    • @angeladpsp1

LOL! I started out years ago using what was Jasc Paint Shop Pro V9 & Jasc Animation Shop, but Corel bought out the Company and started making newer versions geared towards Photographers and also killed off Animation Shop which is a much better Graphic Animator than in Photoshop and till this day I still use Paint Shop Pro V9 & Animation Shop for my Graphics. Anyhow, the tools in PSP V9 are very simple as for redoing and undoing something - All you have to do is click on the undo arrow how many times you like or the redo arrow how many times you like. Also, they make soo many other things so complicated in PS with having to use keys or go to find the menu where what you want to do it's at, wherein Paint Shop Pro V9 you can actually place the things in your Menu on the Task Bar Above not to the side that takes up the area space and they become shortcut icons where for instance Drop Shadow, Sharpen, Gaussian Blur, etc. and all you have to do is click on the icon and Voila! There are soo many features like this Video Tutorial for instance that PS makes things so Frigging complicated or useless than in PSP!!! However, the only sad thing with the newer versions of Corel's Paint Shop Pro they can't add up to the features in Photoshop when using the Camera RAW, etc., for Photo Editing, this is why I only use PSP for my Graphics and had no choice but to learn Photoshop when I got into Photography. However, the great thing is the majority of the Plugins I use to be creative they work in both Programs. I am still using Windows 7 Professional as it has the Virtual XP Mode that I use my PSP 9, Animation Shop and my 32bit Plugins that they don't even make anymore and I do have a 64bit Computer and tried to use some in the 64bit but no matter what I did it would not work, but as long as I am able to keep this Windows 7 Virtual XP Mode I will be able to use all my tons of plugins that it's a shame they don't make any more cause they really had talented artistic creative plugins that can be used for Graphics and Even Photos. Anyway, getting off track LOL! Well the only thing I know is that and hopefully, it works out that Scott Kelby has mentioned that PS will be going towards AI for the Productive Stuff like you see now in PS CC 2019 the Content Aware Fill, so basically Scott Kelby is saying things like this and like cutting out Objects with AI so that it will free up your time and be more creative and I am hoping what Kelby said is true as they already started it as this will make things (CROSSING FINGERS) a whole lot simpler as well as making the outcome results soo much better!!! Have a Great Rest of The Week :)

I enjoy your videos and have been watching from day one. However, it's time for me to speak up about something that has become super annoying in your recent tutorials: the side camera angle that makes you appear to be speaking to someone sitting over my left shoulder. It surprises me that you would use this artificial technique -- you're not the only one who has tried it, but many of the others have given it up. When you look straight ahead, you're keeping a personal element to the experience. What does your mom have to say about this? I value her opinion.
