My father was diagnosed with the same as your father. I am so sorry. My father had nearly the exact journey that your father did. I went with him and my mom as you both did for the entirety of my first pregnancy. My father died a few weeks before my son was born. So I am sending love to you both and your family.❤️❤️ You are such lovely people, full of light heartedness and making a tough dieting road more palatable for so many! I watch all of your videos, try your recipes and I did notice that your had gained any weight at all. I never saw any skin issue with you, Sarah. People shouldn’t have that much time on their hands to hold you under a microscope. Hurt people hurt people. Sarah, I had skin issues as well probably due to the stress. After I had my baby, and he was safely drinking formula, I got a prescription for Retin-A gel. It is a miracle for clearing up your skin AND gets rid of lines and wrinkles as a side effect! Anyway, I hope you both heal well and know he is with you. Love from Sherry

I am so sorry for your loss. I love all the hospice workers, they are wonderful people but nothing fills the void caused by loss. The fact you kept tears back long enough to tell the story was inspiring. We all have sad stories to tell and the older I get the more often the loss. My dad passed at age 37 in 1987, since 2018 I have lost one family member a year until all ( even my step father) have all left. So many times I reach for the phone to call them and have to relive their loss. I think you 2 have honored your father and love your mother. Weight and health are important but focusing on love is more. I’ll lose the next 15 pounds with you. I don’t know you but my heartbreaks just the same.

My dad died in 2022. There are NO healthy options at hospitals past the day hours. My parents were married 62 years. Between running to the hospital, being there for my mom, as the only girl and oldest a lot fell on my shoulders. I was also babysitting two infants ( I needed the income). It was NUTS. The aftermath of his death was my mom devastated, selling the family home, I spent hours visiting my mom, making meals and delivering them, watching TV with her. These past two years have been a struggle. I really had no time to care for myself.
In the past two years I’ve gained back 50 pounds of the 95 I lost. I do wish it was only 15lbs.
I sat with my dad as he died and there when he took his last breath. I had sent my mom home who looked like she was going to die from worry. There is nothing pretty about witnessing a death, it’s not like the movies.
I know I will get back on track. Sometime we all need to give ourselves the grace we need. Thanks for sharing your story ❤️

The fullness of life includes death, but also belly laughs and tears, and plain old mundanenss. There is no way any of us, your subscribers and fans, could imagine what this cycle of life, has brought you both. That being said, your dad gave you two, both biologically and through enculturation, part of himself. It looks as though the Keto Twins are beginning again, in that fullness of life. For what it's worth to each of you, it never matters whether you "looked" one way or another. I can say this with some authority, The Keto Twins have been unique in the world of Ketogenic life. I know because I have watched a hell of a lot of them. Your videos are valuable to everyone who watches. (and supports your sponsors😉). Emily and Sarah- I am so sorry for your loss. I am 65, and still don’t feel middle aged😉I converted to Keto a little over a yr ago and have lost 45 lbs. Your recipes helped me a lot. I am also crying right now. I lost my mom about the age you are now. I lost my dad about 12 yrs later. Then, my favorite aunt was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer, ( the same one I had, when I was 42.) My uncle was 79, and she was 69. She was so sick so fast. I was retired, and I packed up my 2 dogs and 3 cats and moved in with them. Unfortunately, chemo didn’t work, and she went into hospice. I was with my uncle when she passed. I know how hard your dad’s illness was for you guys. But, he was right about you continuing your videos. You help so much with your recipes, but you always lighten our days with your humor. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer. He was only supposed to live for about a month but he went into remission and 6 months later he seemed to be doing fine. Then one Friday he saw his oncologist and came home and told my mom that he wanted to show her where all the important papers were. He didn't say anything else. On Monday morning she found him passed away in his recliner, still holding his horse racing form in one hand and a pen in the other. Cancer sucks. Losing a parent sucks. I wish I could tell you it gets easier. It doesn't really. It gets to the point where you can finally look back on the past with your dad and smile instead of cry at his absence but that will take time. But, it sure sounds like he was awesome and he obviously loved you both and was so proud of you. Keep that in your hearts. It helps.

Emily and Sarah - I am new to your channel - I've seen a few videos over the years, but in recent days I started following more low carb and keto youtube channels and your "we need to talk" popped up. Wow. First of all, my deepest condolences for your loss. My goodness, you have been through so much. My Dad passed a year ago - and he declined very slowly over the course of 5 years (he had dementia) and when our parent's decline - it's a stressful, emotional time. Thank you for being real. I TOTALLY understand weight gain and skin issues - and it broke my heart to hear that people said critical things of you. That is so shallow. The truth is - eating healthy, following keto, low carb, low glycemic, etc. IS A PROCESS. Life interrupts us all the time. I'm grateful to you both because it encourages me that I am not alone in the struggle.... that life throws you curveballs and your diet will fluctuate. God bless you both - and again sorry for your loss. You could tell your Dad was very special. :)

My wife handed me a box of clothes & my insulin and said go! I spent the next few months taking care of her before she passed. I was lucky to have the support of my wife and two daughters, just as you had with your sister(s). I’m now LCHP and have lost between 70-80 lbs. and finally got my diabetes under control. All I can say is it eventually gets better!

You are a blessing. My husband of 34 years died in 2020 after many years of illness and disability. I started watching you somewhere around that time. I appreciate you and adore you. You have been a bright spot and a joy in my life though some of my darkest years. I am so grateful to you. Your dad was awesome. My husband's personality was similar. He was sweet and funny and not Mr. Fix-it too. Your both so beautiful, super smart and seem to understand that critical, insensitive people are damaged and how their lack of restraint and officious

My dad died 4 months ago on my 60th birthday. I had been working three days a week and driving 4 hours one way to help take care of him for the other days. Yes. I gained weight, too, and only half-a$$ed my keto diet. I wouldn’t trade one pound or fifteen for the time I had with him. I thought I knew how much I would hurt, but the depth of my sorrow was unexpected. A friend told me that my dad was obviously a good man to inspire so much sorrow. I still cry on nearly a daily basis. I hold you guys with me now when I miss him. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

I’m so sorry for your loss. You two have helped me so much since the fall of 22 when I was hospitalized with uncontrolled diabetes. Since that time, going “dirty keto” as you call it, along with intermittent fasting I’ve lost 130 lbs. I can honestly say that you & four other TH-camrs were my inspiration to finally take my health serious.
You both sound like you were phenomenal daughters that stepped up like family should and not only made your Dad your top priority but never let him feel like a burden. God bless you both & please never, ever let comments about your weight or appearance make you feel badly about yourself. The only thing that truly matters is your heart, and obviously you both have enormous hearts!

I completely understand, y'all. When my brother died I stopped wearing makeup for work because I was sobbing uncontrollably seven or eight times per day. Then I might be hysterically laughing about something adorable he did or said while he was dying of kidney cancer. Then I'd see someone on the street who looked like him and I had to circle the block to get one more look at "him". The roller-coaster of emotions does diminish over time, but it takes months to years. Don't worry about us. Take care of yourselves and don't let anyone on TH-cam add one molecule to your burdens.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Cancer is a nasty thing. One thing no one tells you is that when someone is diagnosed with cancer no matter what type, even if it does go into remission or you're cancer free, it can always come back. I pray you are able to change your outlook and remove the fear in your life. Love each day and those around you. Have a positive attitude. Fear and stress attract illness. Even if you don’t believe that statement, if you refuse fear, you’ll feel so much better. Nobody has a guarantee of anything in life. (I had a very rare ovarian cancer. I’m 10 years past chemo and doing great. I was told my particular cancer had a high probability of returning within 5 yrs.. I actually told my doctor nope….been there, done that, it won’t come back. Don’t worry.) But that’s me. I’m 77yrs old, no medications and healthy lifestyle. But I attribute my health to my mental attitude. Of course, when our time is up, it’s up. But if you’re in remission, keep a positive attitude. You’ve been given a blessing. Good luck yo you ❤️

I had to work because I held the insurance and all I did was get up in the morning go to work, go to the hospital, which was two hours away and come home at 11 o’clock at night and get up the next day and do it all over again. there were some mean people who criticized me for not being by his side 100% of the time. My working was keeping him alive. He died on Mother’s Day and two month short of our 40th anniversary. We had planned a trip to Australia for that anniversary , and never got there. I had lost 60 pounds in 2020 and I had maintained it well. I spent 2022 caring for my husband, who had apparently sudden onset and rapid progression ALS. That was physically demanding, and I could basically eat whatever, and so when people, brought me rolls and dessert, I ate it. Once he died in February 2023, I rapidly gained back 30 pounds. Grief eating is a thing, and grief is hard. And going through caring for a person with a terminal disease will change your perspective about your why. It shakes the vanity component in a way nothing else could.

I'm crying. I've been caring for my husband for the last 4 years, he has a rare leukemia plus is on dialysis. Every week is tracking hemoglobin and platelets, driving him to dialysis, doctor's appointments, transfusions, treatments. Like your dad my husband is the sweetest patient, even as he gets sicker and sicker. We worry that his leukemia is going to mutate, he hasn't had chemo in a year, his choice because it interfered with dialysis. And last week he was also diagnosed with melanoma and will have that removed in a few days. I really need to lose weight, but right now I don't give a hoot.

I remember when my father died, ( the funniest person I have ever known), we came home from the hospital sat around reminiscing and someone said “ should we order a pizza”. We all started laughing, it was just the perfect comment. You will recover, life will go on. You will have all those great memories of your wonderful father.

So sorry. I took care of my daughter who had cancer till she died. It’s very hard. You don’t always tell others about your life. Keep up the good work.

Thank you both for sharing such a vulnerable moment between you and your family. I'm not a "middle-aged lady" by any means, but my folks are definitely aging and it's difficult to talk or think about. In a bittersweet way, he's being immortalized every time y'all turn the camera on cause, "yes, dad, we're filming!" Also, been using LMNT every day since y'all talked about their free sample pack way back in the day - hope they keep supporting y'all too!!! Keeping y'all in our thoughts and thank you for all that y'all have done for both your family and for your not-so-small community.

I had a similar experience when my husband of 25 years was diagnosed with incurable cancer. Your struggle was mine too.
I am so sorry for your family’s loss.

Oh, my heart. My husband of 40 years was diagnosed with throat cancer in late June, 2023. Started Chemo in early August and passed away in mid-October. Two days before my son's wedding. I totally understand the stress weight. I gave up caring what I ate. I gained 20 lbs last year. Still don't care. But I will work on it this summer. My sympathy to you two, your sister and especially your mother. It sounds like your father was such a wonderful man.

Ladies, do not give unsupportive people power over you. You did the exact right thing for you and your family. Watching a parent suffer, waste away, and eventually leave you is traumatic. You fell back on your coping mechanisms. Forgive yourselves and eff the haters! He was proud of you and loved that you two were doing something lasting. I love your videos and have used them for my keto journey. From one child-survivor of death-by-cancer to another. You did all the right things. You chose your dad. Your family. Don't feel like you owe any of us anything.

Sarah & Emily , I am so sorry for your loss of your dad. I have to tell you that you two got me through ‘22 to the present. My husband was diagnosed with 3 different types of leukemia. We have been through everything you have described in the video. We have been blessed with wonderful doctors. ( which truly is a God thing). He is in early stages of remission. His treatments will be finished in September of 2025.
I have to thank you so much for what your channel has done for me. You gave me support to stay Keto… I would make some of the keto recipes to have something productive to do.. I would laugh with you. I am much older than you put you both so brighten my days.
I am so angry that people are so disrespectful. If you truly have been on both sides of the weight issue you would not criticize but try to be supportive even if you did not know what was going on in your life… trust me when I say I could easily be over 300lb with all that has been going on in my life. I cherish both of you. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I will keep you and your family in our prayers.

He has had two great daughters and it sounds like he knew it even more once he saw your videos. What a fun thing for him to learn about at such a difficult time of his life. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us. You went thru all this amazingly well in terms of Keto etc. Big WIN! You both are an inspiration to many. So glad your channel is going well. Ignore the trolls! You two are terrific.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know it'll be incredibly hard for me when my Dad passes. I can't even imagine how hard this has been for you all. I hate that people left you truly horrible comments. Thank for sharing. I am just getting started with keto specifically to hopefully help with weight & health concerns. I look forward to every one of your videos I watch on both channels!
