I bought a 2020 Softail slim on Friday 10/23/20 and this video helped me. I asked about it and my dealer changed out the stock seat for the Street Bob seat on the showroom floor so I can try it first hand. I went with that from day one. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks much for the insights and avenues. When I was looking at my slim, I had some doubts on the seat as well. I looked over and saw the Street Bob and said swap the seats and let me see. They did. I liked it, but I felt cramped. It might be a different story when riding it. I don't know as I bought mine with the factory seat. Oh, I'm only 5'6" without the boots.
It's funny because a lot of Softail Standard and Street Bob Owners say the stock seat sucks. They say it doesn't hold you in place and it's uncomfortable. I personally think it's OK. Not great but OK on my 2020 Softail Standard. It really doesn't hold me in place well and I can't tolerate it for more than 1.5 hour rides without needing a break. I've thought long and hard about replacing it, but I can't find a seat that looks as good.

Funny you should ask. I am still rockin it and I'm still happy with it. I work for Dean speed customs and the owner had me order a saddlemen renegade solo seat to demo and give feedback on. It should be arriving any day now
If you are looking for the best bike for a passenger i would look at some of the larger harleys and if it has to be a softail, then a heritage or sportglide
Do you really use that harley passenger brick seat for your partner to sit on or is it just for aesthetic purpose? I got that seat and returned it the same day. Other than the matching looks with the rider seat it offers equal comfort as to sitting directly on the fender.

hey Rex does this seat get you closer to the handlebars as well? I had the tall risers and stock bars and reach was perfect but I picked up some Wild 1 Dresser bars (504s) and now the bar is a tad too far forward. I'm either going back to the stock bars with tall risers or getting the reach seat or preferably a used street bob seat if that will move me an inch or so closer to the bars. thanks....
G'day John. How tall were the risers you used, and how tall are you? I'm 5'6" and I can flat foot but I'm leaning forward a little with my arms at full stretch and at full lock I can barely reach the bars at all. "Clamshell" is not a comfortable riding position and since I can't find a seat that will actually bring me closer to the bars, risers might unfortunately be the way to go. Cheers.
@@shaynel834 I'm 5'8" and was running the 1 1/2 inch risers. I've switched to 12" LA choppers Nice Curves bars since though and can set my reach as close or as far as I want. Way more comfy than the 504s....

As far as I know, no frame fender or fender strut changes were made on the street bob, so the 2021 seat should fit the slim. If it helps, I have a spare 2020 street bob seat that is available.

Does that saddlemen passenger seat screw in as well or just use the suction cups?
It has a front and rear tab that a screw goes thru. The front is shared with the rider seat

Mostly it was to go with the sissy bar. I have a passenger maybe twice a year. I do agree tho, the thing is useless.

John, the street bob seat pushes u further forward than the slim seat
