I love this episode purely because the my parents are aliens guy is in it. The Prydonian thing is sort of like the Gallifreyan version of a Hogwarts house. The Doctor's part of the Prydonian chapter (they're known for being cunning and sneaky, they wear orange robes, and they've also produced the most presidents and renegades out of all the houses). Basically, a bunch of Slytherins. Other chapters are the Patrexes (the artsy ones who can predict the future), the Cerulians (who like plants), the Dromeians (who wear all black and are very boring), and the Arcalians (i literally can't remember anything about them).
I loved the clever way in which disaster will occur on the planet, but the way the Monks take over - with love rather than fear - is an interesting approach and makes the threat feel unique.
Eric, the doctor makes decisions for billions all the time. I agree with Calvin on the time machine thing. I would like to believe it would be easy for me to accept.
It made no sense to me that they couldn't just show the video to the Doctor directly. It's sending him visual information anyway, why not just send him a live camera feed?
My question is why didn't they just face time so she could tell him what to do? And if that doesn't exist for some reason just send a picture of if and she can tell him how many rotations on each thing.
I think it was a decent episode . I find the Monks to be mysterious yet also unique .. I kinda want to see more of them in the future . Anyway , Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays !!.
Not all blind people want to be able to see. Same as in many disabled communities, some wish they weren't disabled and some are content as they are. While it's not a perfect split, there seems to be some difference between people who were born blind (quite a few of whom are content and wouldn't want to change) and people who could see originally but lost their sight (thus going through that emotional process of loss, which could have been very painful). I know this wasn't a big point in the video, but I wanted to leave this comment because a lot of people are very unaware about the disabled community and think we must all wish we weren't disabled, which isn't the case. From what I've seen, the autistic, Deaf, and Down Syndrome communities are some of the ones with the highest numbers of people who wouldn't want to change if they could.
I think initially, they was meant to be a line mentioning terrorism, before they jump to bacteria. But then a terrorist attack occured, so the line got cut from the episode.
The intro made me miss Clara. She was always able to keep up with whatever was going on and when unti came to pick her up she would jump right into action as if she was the doctor until he arived. I miss having a companion that wasn't just there to look confused when stuff happens. Clara was always able to keep up with the doctor and when needed take his place.
Guys, listening to your post episode discussion, I think you almost, but not quite, got the point. The Doctor saved the world, NOT the monks. Bill’s consent was offered purely in aid of saving the Doctor. The other attempts by the military were all attempts to save the world itself, and thus were not made out of love.
