    My fragrance to rule them all: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Beautiful, wonderful, masculine, luxurious, boardroom, galas, celebrations, romance. I could easily wear it every day.

    As soon as you mentioned Bertie D I knew you’d choose Chypre Palatain Dan! It’s an amazing fragrance, not one I expected to love but wow do I love it. The dry down in particular is so good, that sticky labdanum steals my heart, been through 2 decants I think that a bottle will be mine soon, although I don’t covet a big bust as much as you do, I’ll take the cheaper option 🤣

    • @WaftsfromTheLoft

      Thanks Claire! I know €350 sounds crazy expensive, but if you buy the bust version directly from MDCI you also get 10 x 12ml samples. Yes, 120ml for free!

    My answer for today would be Maai by Bogue, I've only recently smelled it and now I'm obsessed! The bottle I ordered won't be here until next week so I just keep dabbing and sniffing from my sample vial. The opening brings out a lot of childhood nostalgia for how glamorous I thought grownups were when they were all decked out and smelling fabulous. The drydown is still nostalgic but in a more contemporary way, it makes me think of paraphernalia shops or new age bookstores with their aromatic amalgam of books, posters, unburned incense, scented candles, oils, herbs, and tinctures over a fusty, dark unpinning that captures an air of loneliness.

This is a smell I would love to encounter on public transportation, for example. My guess for Dan was Chypre Palatin (!) and for Jo, Bogue Maai. Always love the conversation between you two. Nice to see The Loft again!

    Cool video. Just discovered you guys and subscribed.
    My fragrance to rule them all would be Tyrannosaurus Rex by Zoologist. It really has everything. It's powerful, layered, classic, modern, narrative, artful, etc., as well as a name fit for ruling. Timbuktu is another favorite, but yeah, it's no ruler. I'm curious about your other choices. Thank you!

    My obsession with fragrances started less than a year ago when I got Geo F Trumper's Sandalwood. Since then I've spent a (not so small) fortune on other perfumes, 25 bottles so far and counting, trying to chase that same feeling that I get from the sparkling drops of liquid gold that is Sandalwood by Geo F Trumper.

    My fragarance to rule them all is hands down Burberry London. For about 5 years since I first smelled it I have been alternating daily all year round with my other favorite scent Farenheit by Dior. It is only in 2019 that I decided to wear fragarances appropriate to the season, so this summer i have been alternating with Nautica "Voyage" and "Life". I can't wait for the fall and winter to come so I can wear my all time ruler BUBERRY LONDON.

    According to Beauty Meow's original constraints, the Fragrance To Rule Them All should work for any sex, any age, any weather, and any occasion. I don't think that Chypre Palatin fills that bill, as it is way too sweet for some tastes. But thanks to your thorough explanation, I can see how you arrived at it, and that you are taking a more personal perspective. - I also thought chypre, and then I thought "Mitsouko". (And I do mean the 2016 formulation of Thierry Wasser, in EdP strength.) If there is a one-size-fits-all fragrance in the world, I find it obvious this must be it.

    Very excited to try Chypre Palatin and indeed other MDCI fragrances like Invasion Barbare so will order some samples from Jovoy but I just received my bottle of Bengale Rouge so I’m out of funds for now :) Kafkaesque seems to think Chypre Palatin has been ‘reformulated’ though I can’t see why such an independent luxury house with high end ingredients would do this. My own fragrance to Rule them All would be Robert Piguet’s Bandit and my little 1950s bottle of parfum is the finest fragrance I own.

    • @WaftsfromTheLoft
      @WaftsfromTheLoft  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Impossible for me to name one to rule them all as my best sensory and olfactory moments were not really fragrances from a bottle but total experiences like walking through Lavender fields in Haute Provence in June-July, walking in forest after it rained, walking on beach in autumn with little wind sea salt in the air etc.

    Although you gentlemen do a fairly good job overall, did you ever consider the fact that broadcasting out of a church is akin with sinful behaviour? It would be under the category of VANITY - In Christian teachings, vanity is an example of pride, one of the seven deadly sins. If I were you, I'd change my location to perhaps a museum or train station, something to that effect because you are paying a diservice to the creator. Believe it or not, people are said to have lost their salvation over vanity. Do some research on this and take what I'm saying seriously.

    • @mdo5121
      @mdo5121 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is vanity/ego not in those also who believe that criticizing others because THEY believe they are righteous and others are wrong.You need not worry about defending the LOVING Creator FOR HE IS EVERYWHERE at all times. ADVICE: When you become pure of your own faults brother then others will listen to your lecturing more fervently.Sorry, it appears you may have come across the wrong channel ...until you find what you are looking for on you tube... happy channel surfing. PS BTW those in charge of this beautiful church seemed compliant to all of this.
