If everyone is lost except him why isn’t he facilitating then?JJ is only doing what he’s told do. He doesn’t run the team. Letited is exhausted and needs to take few weeks of like bronny. I agree and think his Wizard's years was his best footwork as well. 2nd 3-Peat was GREAT footwork, but Wizard's Jordan was probably the best footwork of ALL PLAYERS EVER. He had Dream's moves but was quicker and smoother. It was also the main thing Kobe would mention about learning from MJ.

In those Wizards years, you can see why MJ was so respected and still feared by everyone in the league.
He had the most amazing skillset and was a master in the fundamentals of basketball.
Watching him draw up to 3 or 4 defenders is a mark of how good he was.
Watching him make unbelievable plays whilst still adhering to the actual rules of basketball is freaking amazing.
MJ made the entire world become NBA fans because he made the impossible look easy. Even at 40.
I just wish that NBA officiating was the same as it was back then so we could get our beloved game back to how it should be.
We might even get the privilege of seeing the next MJ appear before our eyes and take the game to another level.

I'm so glad here in Bmore we had regional coverage of Wiz MJ. I barely missed a game. He was amazing in so many different ways, mid range was elite still, maybe wasn't as Great as he was OBVIOUSLY before but ppl really ignore being retired for 3 yrs and in front office at time of return plus the injuries .
Lol it amazes me how much ppl missed during the Wizard years. He had highlights after highlights, was diving on the floor bussing up his chin, all over the place still , he was showing the young Boyyys on team how to play with heart and effort especially when u lose some of your athletic abilities.
He was as clutch as aggressive as hard nosed on defense as ever.
He was battling the likes of some great small forwards and shooting guards during that time like KOBE, Pierce, Mercer, Allen, Artest, just to name a few.
If MJ just like So many LeBron fans scream for help. If he actually had some help with Wizards and they were able to pull off trade for Elton Brand for rook Kwame. They would have made playoffs easily. If he had a playi- in tournament, they would have played both years without any changes.
But we don't make excuses we just appreciate THE GOAT

One massive difference I see between Jordan and James:
Jordan came to play. He out there having fun. Like he just drove out to Venice Beach on a whim, chomping a cigar, and said, "Who wants a shot at my crown?"
James looks like the old timer in the office who got extra salty watching everyone who started with him and after him get promoted past above him while swearing to the bathroom mirror that he did everything perfect.

What a great reaction again and what an excellent observation, you're absolutely right, at that stage in his career, MJ's footwork and fundamentals were more prominent than ever, as he could no longer rely solely on his physical abilities his other abilities shined a lot more!
This version of MJ is a key reason why LeBron doesn't come close to MJ or even Kobe for that matter as even in his final seasons, Kobe played through injuries and performed exceptionally well on both ends of the floor.
Meanwhile, LeBron appears to be conserving energy for years now, barely moving around the court and giving minimal effort.
When you consider how MJ and Kobe maintained greatness in their last seasons excelling on offense and defense it becomes clear that they were on another level at their peaks and even if LeBron plays until he's 50, his longevity won't match or eclips their overall impact as the media wants us to believe, end of story!

Everything was still there and like I said the only thing that was missing was the hang time and once he got the rhythm, we were slowly seen the great Michael Jordan right up to. I feel for LeBron because you can't match that. It's okay to be number 2. I am happy that Michael was able to come back squeeze every last bit of juice out of his gift. It's still beautiful.

Mind Crime, i remember specifically watching Jordan on his return to the Wizards. I saw him in pick up games , he was lean and mean. He WAS MOVING like he did back right when he retired in his last championship or at least 90% of it. Leave it to Artest (we know how he is) to break his rip RIGHT BEFORE the season was suppose to start. I remember them talking about that Jordan has a choice. Get ready in 2 months and try and recover or call it off and focus on next year. They weren't sure if he didn't do it now if he would do it the following year and we know , broken ribs take a good amount of time to heal. SO he wasn't working out as much and honestly , from what i remember , came back heavier than he was right before Artest broke his ribs in that pick up game. I can't imagine if he didn't get his ribs broken , he would have been in prime shape, knees were fine, there would be no rib problem and he wouldn't have put on the extra weight. Friggin Artest. BUT, Jordans wizards years are very underrated. There is a video actually with that exact title breaking down how good he was and how good those two seasons were. ( he averaged actually 23.8ppg lol )

Groovy gettin' a master class education on MJ. Good for him!
MJ walking into the arena stylin' and profilin'. 😁 Aw, $hit, MJ can't go left! What's he doing! Oh, he's uh, going left isn't he? Whoever came up with 'that can't go left' narrative needs to never EVER talk basketball again.
Hey, I don't think that's Kobe. I think that's a lazy assed Shaq pass, that ain't on Kobe.
LOL, Groovy either got the stank face or a huge smile going the whole video. Love it! 😆
Show me somethin'? He did, Groovy. He showed you defense leading to a transition dunk.

Fans and the media may have been skeptical about Wizards Jordan but in hindsight, I’m willing to bet that every team in the league during this time period were treating it as if it was still Bulls Jordan. Anybody that knew MJ - of which there had to be plenty with voices in the league - probably believed that if MJ is lacing up, that means he believes he’s still got it. He’s got literally no other reason to be playing. Guys like MJ are their own worst critics so if he believes he still got it, he probably still got it.

Regarding your point with MJ playing all 82 in his last year... he and everyone else KNEW the gravity of it even at the time with it being the last time we would all get to watch him. Those not experiencing it live will not understand the impact all retiring/unretiring had on fan-psyche during this time. It felt like he absolutely could come back at some point again even up to like you said he was taking it to the bobcats at 50. I know why he didn't do it, but it would have been super awesome for him to return at 45 or 50 and just play the old man game. He would have absolutely still been effective offensively. MJ gave it back to the fans that last year, that was for no one else, which is genuinely pretty damn cool.

Context matters. In 2004 the pace of play was really slow and defenses very strong (aka Dead Ball era). A lot less possessions per games. And MJ was scoring 1/4 of the points of his team. In today’s league it’s translate to roughly 28 points a game. He was actually really good as a Wizard.

These Stans have the attention span of infants. Wizards MJ just bullied defenders in the low post. He was bigger and had more weight to use against young defenders who had athleticism on him. I remember they would stick players from PG to PF positions to guard him in the low post. He absolutely abused a bigger and more athletic Kenyon Martin in the post. Kobe and Wade watched a lot of later Bulls and Old Wizards MJ highlights because they used a lot of his offensive repertoire later in their careers. Especially that low post, fade away, then pump fake, then step thru as the defender is in the air for the layup or bank shot move. Jordan's offensive creativity was off the charts. He is by far the greatest post up guard of all-time. Jordan's shoulders were really strong, he would just bury them into skinny athletic dudes like Kobe, Augmon, Marion, Bowen, McGrady, Jefferson, etc.

The pump fake worked so well because he was such a good shooter. Michael Jordan's shooting percentage outside of 3 feet throughout his career was approximately 50.5%. LeBron James shoots 37% outside of 3 feet from the basket.
Michael Jordan's career 3-point percentage was 32.7% in the regular season, 33.2% in the playoffs, and 36.8% in the NBA finals. LeBron James' career 3-point percentage is 34.8%. So in an era where the 3 point shot is prioritized and attempted more regularly (meaning it is practiced more than ever) than in Jordan’s era, LeBron is barely a better 3-point shooter than MJ.

Isaiah Thomas once commented that Jordan couldn't go left so they tried to force him that way. Of course, he then stated he would still score 38 before he got hot but people didn't put that together correctly.
