My daughter is 14 years old and knows who the GOAT is. She had to do a critical thinking exercise in 8th grade (last year) about who the GOAT is. I asked her about how she figured out who the GOAT is and her exact words were “Michael Jordan accomplished more in less time, that’s how I reached my conclusion that he is the greatest.”

I live in Chicago and we got to see him live on WGN every game.
What you see in the highlights was just MJ night after night after night.
No matter how many times you saw him, he could still make you jump out of your seat and say "Damn!"
He dominated like no other player in any sport and he did it against the greatest players in the world.
He was so far above everyone else that they actually feared him. It was a thing of beauty.

I watched Groovy's reactions to Bird and Magic too, and every time he mentioned, "And he plays defense too?" I got took out. When I was coming up in the late 80s and mid 90s, just on the playground, if you didn't make the handler uncomfortable, nobody let you play pickups. At pro status, you simply never made roster. I'm literally baffled by this era of NBA ball and what it's doing to the perceptions of young fans.

@@TheRealMindCrime You ask why is matter they come back from 1-3, it's because the case is empty so they have to fill it with anything they found.
      1
How many games the warriors lose during this playoff?
9 the same amount that during the season 9.
      They were not that untouchable.
      2
How many times a team came back from 1-3 in NBA History ?
13, LeBron was the 1st time in the finals but the 13th in the playoff History.
      3
( Juste for fun but still important )
Who and when was the 12th times ?
In 2016, western finals conference, the Warriors came back from 1-3 vs OKC.
      4
Why nobody talk about that ?
      😮‍💨
      Plus,
If I am not wrong LeBron said that one make me blablabla in 2018
      Before
      Going On Another Team again
To me it was to distract from his new leaving Cleveland, the decision didn't work, but something like that was a better strategy.
I don't think he believe it himself, but the fans were estatic, then this debate, a lot of money and buzz thanks to this false debate
How 2016 can make you the goat when you lose twice in a row After that vs the same team, cemented them as the 3rd dynasty since you are in the League when yourself with two superteams didn't succeed to create one, and there is a guy who have a double threepeat in 8 years ( only 5 times a team won 3 or more in a row in NBA history) with the same team but two differents rosters ( minus pippen and Phil) and you choose your number because of him and you have his brand on your jersey?
If in 2016 you feel like the goat
By 2018 you know you are not

I get that, but… no MJ is all that needs to be said. It probably wouldn’t have happened with how Jerry Krause and him had some issues keeping the second 3peat team together but they could’ve gone 8 straight if he didn’t wanna play baseball.
Hate doing Hakeem cause he was at least top 5 big men like that but there’s definitely an asterisk on his titles.
I know he was there for the second half of the second title run for Hakeem but MJ was so thin and out of basketball shape.
Edit: I agree that it was better than lebrons run. The only thing close is down 3-1 vs the warriors. But honestly that wasn’t all bron, if he didn’t have kyrie he wouldn’t have won. And they only had kyrie cause he couldn’t do it himself like the ogs did it.

@@eyalsabag1772 Another knock against LeBron is being a pin in someone else's cap.
One of the greatest playoff runs of all time was capped by "The King" being toppled off his constructed mountain. There were LeBron lifers and a few fans down in Miami rooting for them in that series and that's it. Everybody else wanted to see LeBron eat it and he did by scoring 8 points in the Finals against a 5 foot 9 inch puerto rican.
He can send a million Klutch automatons out to try to erase the past but we all remember big Bron being the big choke master himself. I asked LeBron James for change for a dollar and he said "I can't carry four quarters." He was literally a joke.

As someone who grew up in the 90s, watching MJ was magical. Every game on TV was a must watch. I live in Vancouver and had the privilege to watch him play the Grizzlies the year where the Bulls won 72 games. That was the only live MJ game I have attended. He scored 19 points in the last 6 minutes of the game to come back to beat Vancouver. There are many videos about that on youtube. I still have goosebumps talking about that game. In my office, I have a picture that I took at the game of MJ shooting a free throw. That was before the time of digital cameras. As a high school kid at the time, buying film and developing the pics after was not cheap. I was so happy when the pics came out great. From time to time, I have young basketball fans coming to my office with their parents and they were blown away by the picture. When I talked about MJ in that game. Their eyes were wide opened and their expression were priceless. It is like they were listening to a fairy tale. I agreed with you brother, we old farts were spoiled.

@@Lomno12 Kyrie would have been if not for that block at the end. That sealed it for Bron, coming back home and bringing a title to Cleveland after the "decision." He had "plot armor" in that storyline and got the game saving block so I can't fault the judges for giving it to him.
All bias aside he can do some pretty amazing things when he doesn't quit on his team like a baby 🤷‍♂

42:05 Agree with what you are saying here. I think the biggest problem standing in the way of younger people understanding how great Jordan was is the fact that never saw full games, the only see highlight reels. Highlight reels are fun but they lack context. If I see Jordan dunk 100 times, I get bored no matter how spectacular they are. But watching how he played all out every game, watching how he dominated the end of games (what Magic Johnson would call "winning time"), and watching how he improved his game every single year to overcome weaknesses that might have cost him during the previous year. People forget he was criticized by the local press here in Chicago for "resting on defense" when he got tired. The next year he won defensive player of the year. People forget he went from having a good midrange game to having one of the best of all time. When the Pistons, Knicks, and Pacers used to beat up on him physically, he got in the weight room and built up the strength and conditioning to win. It is hard to look back on all that and understanding without seeing it, just as it is impossible for me to understand Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robinson, or Bill Russell.

I'm so glad you're reacting to Groovy again! I love seeing this guy amazed by MJ. It's been so long for me more than 30 years since I first realized how impossibly great MJ was so watching his amazement feels like reliving it all over again, and it's fantastic!
That said, I'm honestly very upset with some people for insulting him just because he's a LeBron fan. I believe he was born in '98, so he came into the world after MJ retired for the second time. C'mon, it's not his fault!
Insulting him for that is childish and stupid, especially since he's learning and is clearly a very intelligent, open-minded guy. It shows as he doesn’t get upset and even says that the OGs are schooling him. What a great guy!
We should all be cheering for him and appreciating his journey and hope he's one of the many who can get to this point, not tearing him down. Shame on those people!

Just finished this up. Great video. Loved your player shout outs. I grew up in the north west suburbs (38 now) and went to Marquette (05-09). This was the first year in the Big East so I saw some great basketball during that time, including beating number 2 UConn at home and several bucks games, including seeing Steve Nash during I think his second MVP year. I have said it since, he was the second best basketball player I ever saw live, beyond MJ. Nash played differently, its hard to describe, he was orchestrating the game and saw the game on a level above everyone else on the court. He was quick/fast, but not in your face athletic, but undeniably the best player on the court. Similar-ish feeling to Luka where you can patently see he is the best player on the floor, but no where near the most athletic, but that also sells Nash short a bit. While I saw MJ a number of items during the 95-98 era, I will admit I have not seen many other greats, like Kobe, D Wade, KD, etc. I of course love Wade as well, so you and I seem to think alike.
I do think you should push SLG on a Shaq/Kobe vid. He might know the second half of Kobe's career, but if he literally knew that little about Jordan, he assuredly does know about Shaq/Kobe. Warriors aside, that is the closest we have come to the spectacle and dynasty of the bulls, and and it just so happened to occur right-ish after the last dance. Frankly he needs to know about Shaq more than anything. Those early clips of him in Orlando taking it the full length of the court are going to blow his mind.
Finally, I have never seen anyone do a video about the final time Jordan played at the United Center, ever. It was in his last year as a Wizard, near the end of the season, and both teams were terrible, so this game's only appeal was MJ. I happened to be at the game and it was surreal. Everyone was a massive bulls fan there, but no one gave a shit about the bulls. During the announcements, MJ got what felt like a 10 minute standing O, and it required him to get on the mic and have everyone stop, and it took I believe it took a bit to listen to him. Everyone knew it was the last time we would thank him as a player and everyone seemed to genuinely understand the gravity of that. I am getting goose bumps thinking back more intently on this memory. It was a very cool experience. I am pretty sure they then did the bulls intro, which if so, has to be the least pumped a home crowd ever was for that intro hahah. He got all the cheers in the game and him playing was the sole focus, which again was so surreal. I was lucky enough to see some prime D-Rose as well (easily the most athletic player I have seen live, but again I only saw MJ in the repeat-three-peat era), and the United Center is just an insanely great and energetic arena, and this is easily the weirdest energy I have ever felt in it. Could be a cool video. Hope I am remembering it correctly!

closest thing to a superhero I've ever seen was a little Japanese MMA fighter who took on all the greatest regardless of how much size he was giving up to them, up to 60lbs, he beat most and was competitive against all. He dominated the first family of MMA, the Gracie family, handing them their first loss in 48 years, defeating 3 of them.
In his very first fight he became the first man to submit a bjj/gjj blackbelt, winning a UFC heavyweight tournament, while weighing 180lbs. He had to lie about his weight to enter, saying he was 202lbs.
In the PRide FC Grand Prix, he fought 90 minutes against Royce Gracie, the 3x undefeated UFC champ, forcing him to throw in the towel and take his first loss. Everyone thought he would leave the tournament, because this was the most important fight and he had fought so long, but he stayed in and fought to a draw in regulation against Igor Vovchachyn, the top HW in the world, who outweighed him by 50lbs and had his first fight before the 90 minute epic fight, giving him tons of rest. He finally took his first L in this fight, being too exhausted to go into overtime having fought 1 hour and 45 minutes in one night.
by the end of his career, he had beaten 7 UFC champs, 3 Kings of Pancrase and 2 Dream GP champs.

I remember before the 1st game I saw Jordan play. It was in 1993 playoffs vs New York when the Bulls were down 2-1, and I remember thinking, let me see how good MJ is. The Bills losing streak was tough. I was never a Bills fan but the pizza place we went to as a kid during the early 90s. The guy who owned it was a huge Bills fan. Every wall of that restaurant floor to ceiling was covered with Bills memorabilia. It was hard seeing this guy get his hopes crushed 4 years in a row. I miss that restaurant. They had excellent pizza and a Turtles in Time arcade machine. Loved it as a kid. (Edit. 40:15 When mentioning LeBrons weaknesses forgot to mention he is a turnover machine. I love watching these. SLG definitely doesn't know about the Shaq/Kobe era I would bet. He needs to go though a good doc on that too. There are Sooooo many narratives regarding Jordan he has no idea about. Off the top of my head, the 1997 finals, he had a buzzer beater game winner, the flu game, and the final pass to Kerr for the series winner. Also so many videos. I think its a Johnny Arnett video where he shows that Jordan was the best/should have won the MVP from like 1987-1993 straight - his accolades are absolutely underrated (something we can't say about Bron) because they got sick of giving it the MJ - also see the 1997 season!

I’m a lifelong Cleveland sports fan and when we traded for K Love, I remember saying “If we can’t win a championship with this roster we are never winning a championship.” We were hurt in 2015 but when the 2016 Finals rolled around and we were completely healthy, there was no part of me that thought we couldn’t beat that Warriors team. Especially after they should have lost in the WCF. So when ppl try to say Lebron came back 3-1 vs the greatest “regular season team” ever, I always have to ask them wtf that means. Cause they don’t give out regular season trophies and that team lost just as many games in the playoffs. So what are we talking about? The ONLY reason that say “greatest regular season team” is to make them sound like a way better team then they actually were

I never get tired of watching LeBron fans watch DP's video. It's hilarious to see their faces when reality starts sinking in. 😂

The most underrated player in NBA history is pistol Pete scored 68 points without a 3 point line and still has the NCAA basketball scoring record. MJ is the goat and pistol Pete is the goat of the NCAA

Not only lebron isn’t the goat, he does NOT deserve to be in the goat conversation.
    He’s top 20, arguably 17th, 18th best player ever. But IMO he’s the 20th.

Groovy is not like the other Lebron fans. That's why I sub him and like him being open-minded.

I totally respect MJ as the goat even though him and the bulls broke me in the 1993 finals. My favorite player is always Barkley - also have so much love and respect for the great Kobe Bryant

That's not the worse reaction ever. There's few more even more hilarious. My favourite was when certain lebronaphile was ignoring all MJ stats...and finally ragequitting at thanos comparison 🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣
From positive reactions I liked i am nova video.

Jordan’s team could be down 2 in the last 5 seconds of double OT in game 7 of the finals, and the crazy bastard will probably attempt a 3.
I think what makes guys like Jordan and Kobe after him stand out is that they’re fully prepared to be the reason their team loses so long as they can always say they left it all out on the court. When you hold yourself to the highest standards, you don’t break when you lose. You come back stronger. So, there’s quite literally no reason not to go all out because once the game’s over, you either have a win, or you’re primed to come back better. Often times, you’ll get both.
