@@k-popfan7758 No they weren't, if they were, they wouldn't have left Scotland, the people who left Scotland were either those who did so to better their economic opportunities or were shipped out because they were hardcore convicts and banished criminals. You're far more likely just another 100% Yank Doodle whose far distant ancestors were actually outlaw reivers who didn't consider themselves either Scottish or English and lived in the buffer zone as farmers and cattle raiders between the two kingdoms on the borderlands adjacent to 'The Debatable lands' - named so because it was neither under the jurisdiction of the Kingdoms of Scotland or England, and was as such rife in crime such as arson, murder and robbery as you'd expect. The reivers even attacked Scottish as well as English across the border as each ventured close by, it was a lawless place with horrendous conditions, and when James VI of Scots took over the English throne in 1603 (and Ireland by extension as Ireland was a papal possession of the kingdom of England), he sought to bring an end to the reivers and eradicate it, the ones who were not executed for the more serious crimes were deported as stateless criminals into Ulster in Northern Ireland, and their distant descendents in turn went to America (early YankeeLand) and became the Yankee outlaws and cattle rustlers and essentially became the reivers of America, and like the reivers of Britain before them, they did not subscribe to national identity so much as clan names - a bit like the modern Yank Doodles of America today who deny their American ethnicity/nationality and American heritage and now laughably claim to be Scottish LOL, when they are not, never were and never will be. Not even the British outlaw reivers identified with native nationality. And the native Yankee Doodle tribes of Northern America (which yes, were 'native' by that point) cowboy outlaws and cattle rustlers who carried on the reiver criminal ways, also fought against royalty, against the united British (which was the United Kingdoms of Scotland and England) to establish the USA by 1776, and after the war of 1812 and the subsequent Treaty of Ghent, they went on to encroach on more and more Amerindian lands as Americans to steal more of their land to built their nation of the USA on after the British had left.
the funniest part of it is the fact it's a Scottish nationalist song, a very beautiful song about Scottish pride in repelling the yoke of English rule, yet it's sung so proudly by so called Scottish nationalist, it's basically like the loyalist in Northern Ireland singing the republics anthem haha 😂 kind of shows them for what they are really, that being English wannabe peasants, with absolutely no idea of the word patriotism. sad but true unfortunately 😞

I've just been to see her at the funeral parlour and played this very beautiful piece . Her name was Mary and quite often called her Mary Queen of Scott's. Thank you Pipers for this beautiful piece

Today, Flower of Scotland sounded at a major football tournament for the first time this century. At Hampden Park of all places. I'm not Scottish and they'll probably end last in their group, but ... wow, it had me. Goose bumps, tears, everything.
Scotland is actually more Germanic than anything ultimately. Also this mystic bond thing some Irish seem to have with Scotland is more with Glasgow Celtic fans (largely a result of the 19th century Irish who fled from the Irish famine) who link Ireland to Scotland as part of their artificially constructed identity and see themselves as Irish more than anything but claim to be Scottish when convient, but they are only about 4% of the Scottish population. While the Ulstermen on the other side of the sea, seem to have more of an affinity with Scotland than with Eire (Southern Ireland) despite being on the same island.
As a Scottish blooded born Englishman the words I have to describe this fail me. Everything I grew up with is English but.... The passion for bagpipes, the love for my Scottish family and the adoration for a country so close to my heart.... I never say I'm proud to be from any nation but.... Proud to be British. Proud to stand by my fellow Scotsman for the love of this but pour that glass for any Welsh and Irish man. We are all one. Don't waste time on the petty arguments. We are a single nation. We are together. Be proud.
I'm a polish blooded scot (alot of poles stayed in the uk after fleeing during ww2) and i just gotta say that i love when i see other scotsman online lol
O flower of scotland When will we see Your like again, That fought and died for Your wee bit hill and glen And stood against him Proud edward's army, And sent him homeward Tae think again. The hills are bare now And autumn leaves lie thick and still O'er land that is lost now Which those so dearly held That stood against him Proud edward's army And sent him homeward Tae think again. Those days are past now And in the past they must remain But we can still rise now And be the nation again That stood against him Proud edward's army And sent him homeward, Tae think again. 0 flower of scotland When will we see Your like again, That fought and died for Your wee bit hill and glen And stood against him Proud edward's army, And sent him homeward Tae think again.
I am after listening Flower of Scotland. I'd like to stay in Scotland. I am wanting to be Scottish. How not ? The Scots have a very wee territory , not muckle. You have beautiful kirks , snibs , rakes , and castles. Your anthem is my favourite Scottish song.
I'm from the northeast of England a little place called Middlesbrough I love this anthem it is the most powerful song in the world.and I will stand with any scots man rather than a southerner I went to Scotland's when I was 14 years old a place called Oban and just fell in love with the Scottish people must take after my father he loved them alot.
Hearing this beautiful song and looking at these majestic images, I feel renewed and ready to be my best scottish self. The fact that I'm from Brasil is of no importance.
I'm English and I completely second the last comment the Scots have a very such a strong identity and heritage , gives me Goosebumps just love the pipes and drums love Scotland and the people
49 years old Dutchman here. Whenever I retire, my dream would be to go and live in the Scottish highlands in a very simple house, together with my bearded collie. Far away from all the crazy things in modern world today. Don't need much. just the simple life. I don't belong in The Netherlands anymore.
This is the most beautiful thing I've heard in years. It is to fall in love, to have a very beautiful ceremony. 💙🤍Catalan proud of Scotland, let's shout independence and freedom 🦅
last summer i was visit this wonderfull land. a land full of hope and nice landscrapes. very nice people. i was feeling me so welcome. i hope someday you will be free and not longer captured by the english grown! wish you all the best. love you
They voted a few years back they voted to stay. I don’t if they still would but we English class the Scott’s as our brothers and sisters and cousins. Thank you.
I am visiting Scotland for the first time in my life this year to visit family headstones. My great grandfather left Scotland in the early 20th century for Canada, eventually settling in the United States in search of new opportunities. My family still has his original documents of immigration. Our family name is still in the registry of the 12 clans, pledging service to Clan Gunn at the start of the millennium shortly after settling in Scotland from Denmark and Sweden. At the start of the 19th century, my distant great grandfather and his brothers become matchmakers (Swanson Wooden match sticks) and remained in the profession until our family immigrated, after not having found success in Canada with the trade. I have never been to Scotland and was not born there, but still feel a connection with it. It consists of majority of my DNA structure, as I’m sure most Americans feel the same way about their native lands.
It's in your dna for sure, I'm English and I served in the Scots guards but always had a yearning for Scotland in my blood, my brother did our family tree and we have Scottish ancestry on both sides going back maybe 5 generations. 😊
Aye, I do with my Irish Ancestry, I'm from New England state of Maine and I never went to Ireland before but I want to go see our family alleged Castle that my Irish Nobility Ancestors had. The story of how we lost the nobility is indeed interesting, so idk exactly what period of time it happened in, my guess is middle ages or possibly 14 to 17 century, my Ancestors was Nobility in Ireland at the time and owned a decent sized castle, they had African slaves, well apparently their daughter fell in love with a Slave and ran off n married him! Despite her family's objection to it, she chose to do so regardless, they told her if you do it, you will never inherit anything from us, she didn't care because her slave lover was all she wanted, and that's how we didn't inherit the wealth or nobility. I'd love to see where in Ireland it is at and see the land, oh yea and Lizzy Borden is my Legitimate Ancestor too!! My mother's mother was a Borden who's father n uncle I believe was cousins to Lizzy.
Im German and i will say , yes to the French writer , by the Way ,ive seen the Dragoon Guards Live , in Weserstadion Minden , they played here , when the Brits left my Town .
There is a lot of beautiful anthems. France, Italy, Russia. Don't forget Brazil. But to me, the most beautiful one is Du gamla, du fria, du fjällhöga Nord.🇸🇪
I'm an American mutt, if you will - Scotch, Irish, and Cherokee - but the bagpipes speak directly to my heart and soul! Stirring music and beautiful images...what could be better?
I am dutch and i don't have any scottish background and i don't know how or why, but when i hear this song my eyes are getting sweaty. just a beautifull song!
Ex US Marine here, we had a Scottish instructor when we were in England. 5 ft 7 with a scar down his forehead to his lower left cheek. Came up to me and a buddy and said in his thick Scottish accent and not in proper English " I'd rather have a bullet hit me than a sword thrown down my face" slapped me on the back then came back with two beers and just walked away... To this day I always chuckle at that and I 100% believe he had a sword to his face. Crazy Scots. Love them

Today, Flower of Scotland sounded at a major football tournament for the first time this century. At Hampden Park of all places. I'm not Scottish and they'll probably end last in their group, but ... wow, it had me. Goose bumps, tears, everything.
My name means “people from the hills” Yes I was born in England but Scotland will ALWAYS be in my heart and I’m proud of my heritage Thank you
Io sono italiano e ogni volta che sento flowers of Scotland, mi vengono i brividi e mi commuovo

Derrick Murphy I'm from Antrim but my ancestors come from Scotland I've always felt close to it.. and love this anthem
Derrick Murphy am scottish and i love the irish just not shankhill rd 1s tho lol
Biblical Inx good stuff man well said.
Be proud.
Superb mate
I'm a polish blooded scot (alot of poles stayed in the uk after fleeing during ww2) and i just gotta say that i love when i see other scotsman online lol

O flower of scotland
When will we see
Your like again,
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud edward's army,
And sent him homeward
Tae think again.
The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
That stood against him
Proud edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again.
Those days are past now
And in the past they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
That stood against him
Proud edward's army
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.
0 flower of scotland
When will we see
Your like again,

49 years old Dutchman here. Whenever I retire, my dream would be to go and live in the Scottish highlands in a very simple house, together with my bearded collie. Far away from all the crazy things in modern world today. Don't need much. just the simple life. I don't belong in The Netherlands anymore.
🏴 Hope ur dreams come true mate 🏴🏴
I can agree, Scotland’s a great country 🏴

last summer i was visit this wonderfull land. a land full of hope and nice landscrapes. very nice people. i was feeling me so welcome. i hope someday you will be free and not longer captured by the english grown! wish you all the best. love you
They voted a few years back they voted to stay.
I live in Wales have done for over 20 years but Scotland will always be my Hame xx
I'm French, but for me Flower of Scotland is the best national anthem of the world
Im German and i will say , yes to the French writer , by the Way ,ive seen the Dragoon Guards Live , in Weserstadion Minden , they played here , when the Brits left my Town .

Love them
He actually said "I'd rather have a chicken curry than a pizza any day."
"Proper English" you what twat
