But when the Scottish anthem starts... "Oh Flower of..." Im already crying with Pride. The Scottish are a wonderful race in a beautiful country. Long may they be the strong people they are.

Very stirring and I hope Great Britain remains United as Scotland would be an immense cultural loss. Do the Scots remember, I wonder, that it was James VI of Scotland who became James I of England not the other way round? Mind you, I have to say that for several hundred years the English treated the Scots a lot like the French treated the English after the Conquest. Could we not recognize that we are stronger together? That the English benefit immensely from the cultural heritage of Scotland and the Scots benefit immensely from the money flowing in from the UK?

The only time Scotland EVER got a share, or MORE than a share of anything was in wars; for instance, the 51st Highland Division was left to fight in France in 1940, while the rest of the British Army, AND thousands of French troops escaped at Dunkirk, I was a wee boy when my brother John and my cousin Elliot, Seaforth Highlanders were killed at that time. I am now, and have been a proud American Citizen for many years, but stll live in the hope that Scotland will once again have men like the Flower of Scotland, who sent what was left of King Edward's Army back to England after Bannockburn in 1314. The Scots and Scotland are greatly admired in the United States, they are not thought of as War Time disposables.
