Certainly "Scotland the Brave" is one of the most stirring martial instrumentals ever created. One can visualize Scottish units marching under the banner Briton on far flung battlefields with their bagpipes blaring engendering terror in the hearts of the enemy.
An old Greman many years after the Great War said, " The English were as tough as Bulldogs, the French had no love of fight, the Americans were good scrappers. But when we heard the sounds of the pipes we knew that it was the Ladies from Hell and it would be a very, very bad day.".
When we were farming, and baling hay, if everything was running in the correct time, "Scotland the Brave" matched the tempo of all the machinery, tractor engine, wagons rocking and rattling ... with the big fly wheel and plunger on the baler matching the drum line ... good ol days ...
My near neighbor and his son were bailing hay in the acre behind my house. The tractor was running and the baler was running and Randy, the son, said "I hear bag pipes!" He turned off the tractor to listen and sure enough it was me playing the pipes. He could hear it over all that noise.

Are you a Scot yourself?
Being of Norwegian and German heritage, I have always felt that somewhere in my bloodline flows Scottish blood! God bless Scotland! From the U.S.!
well if your from norway theres a good chance
Do you drink a lot?
Funny you mention Norway and Germany. Our family is a blend of Scots-Irish and German. I did a DNA Test with MyHeritage and was blown away when it back with a 38% Norwegian/Scandinavian portion. It makes sense with Vikings invading Britain, but that it is such a large part is astonishing.

I love it too. It reminds of the parades... We could hear the bagpipes coming in the distance..feet a tapping, hands a clapping..
Proud Scots-Irishman here. Bagpipes have a spirit that no other instrument can quite capture. ❤️
Reminds of every parade I've been to since a kid here in Nova Scotia (aka New Scotland)
Love this tune. With deep respect from Ireland 🇮🇪
I wonder how many enemies of the Scots throughout the ages shat their pants when they heard the sound of this tune getting nearer?
En 1806 fueron derrotados al invadir el Virreynato del Rio de la Plata ante el Regimiento de Milicianos Gallegos, a quienes debieron entregar sus armas, banderas y gaitas. Saludos.
Given it was written in 1950, not many.
@@Bunnahabhain1982 The lyrics were from 1950 the music dates back to at least 1890.

Danke😘

The only time I ever enjoyed marching in the Army was with the pipes and drums
When my father served in US army for Ww2, he said that marched to waltzing Mathilda. I hv loved that song since I was young.
@@arribaficationwineho32 yep, it's another one of those tunes that get in your blood.
I'm Scotch Irish. And a retired Army Staff Sergeant E6. So I have always enjoyed. Bagpipes.
It's Scots mate. Scotch is produce from Scotland. Scots are the people
May God bless Scotland. Greetings from Argentina.
I'm a Filipino, each time I hear bagpipes makes me feel nostalgic and feel at ease, as if I'm back home...strange really, though I've never been to Scotland.
Love this. One of the first bagpipe tunes I heard. Stirs the corpuscles!😊
....and Scotland come... respect from Croatia. Long live Scotland....❤❤❤❤🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷💪
Un día tuve un sueño realmente melodioso y eran gaitas y otros instrumentos verdaderamente extraordinarios que jamás he vuelto ha escuchar pero está música es la más semejante.
I listen to this every morn to get fired up before I work out. Alba an Àigh!
The bagpipes just speak to my heart. Thank you Grandpa a true soldier volunteer front lines and came home to Canada 🇨🇦 the way it’s going it really hurts they forgotten yours and all you brothers in arms sacrifices
The Scots are so so gentle and benevolent....
