I've always firmly believed that if Ichigo were to ever be formally placed into one of the Squads, the 11th would suit him best. He can't use any form of kido or healing, his fighting style is massively straight forward and mostly reliant on pure swordplay, and, despite him claiming otherwise, there's a mountain of evidence that Ichigo loves a good fight. The only downside would be Kenpachi picking fights with him all the time
A fight between modern Ichigo and Zaraki would be so fire. Although if Yhwach's statement is anything to go by, Ichigo's Bankai would basically be impossible for Zaraki to beat.
I find it funny that within this squad, despite having so many captains having the name “Kenpachi”, not a single one actually/truly inherited the name until our Kenpachi, who is the 11 generation, shows up. It was like they were just there to keep the title warm
For some reason if there is a hell arc, I So desperately want to see a Zaraki vs the 9 false kenpachi With Unohana sitting on the sideline like "I already faced him once, I'm just here for the show this time"
Something I really like is that there is a recurring theme with the 11th Division, and that is how all of the important members are hiding their "True" power in some way. Yumichika hides the name of his sword, because he wants to fit in with his comrades. Ikkaku hides his Bankai because he wants to keep serving under Kenpachi. Both of the Yachiru's hide their true nature until it is revealed through their relationship with Kenny. And finally, Kenpachi hid his true power away, so he would not be unable to experience the thrill one feels in the midst of battle. A nice bit of writing by Kubo to connect all of those characters in a thematic way.
If you think about this, they are oposits, byakuya is all about kido type fight styke and honor and Zaraki is all about power and fight with all you have.
Yumichika would have 100% been the MVP if he was given more time to shine. He understood that this was a war of survival. To see him on the verge of breaking the 11th squad mandate of "Swordsmanship Only" multiple times by trying to release his Zanpakuto or busting out kido, in front of his other squadmates no less, shows a kind of growth I didn't expect of the squad 11 members. Gives me shades of Unohana in how she has no qualms using kido and kaido during a fight.
Ikkaku and Yumichika are amazing characters but they are both caught in the toxic pride of the 11th division. I think what makes Iba so cool is that he chews out Ikkaku because he has had time outside of the 11th. Renji has been able to diversify himself. Ichigo is very close to 11th squad people because he is a hack and slash character.
Also the fact that Gin wrapped up Zaraki and carried him away to keep him and Byakuya from fighting hinted at the god tier power Gin actually was hiding.
The relationship between unohana and zaraki is so twisted but you can't deny that it is so impactful for both of them,for their story arcs. Their first fight impacted both young zaraki and unohana,The character of zaraki specifically being someone so dangerous that they refused to let him learn and train in more advanced powers and techniques,or like when he fought the espada and said oh I guess I'll try to fight with two hands instead of one, zaraki is quite literally the true successor to the kenpanchi name aka to unohana
don't forget how awesome the other Kenpachi we're Kurajishi who preceded Azashiro was so powerful his bankai was banned and Azashiro doesn't really need explanation
After all these years, I just know realized Zaraki pulled a Stark. Being so powerful his own spiritual energy becomes sentient on its own, at a time where they felt their loneliest. Creating a life partner.
It always makes me smile when someone else talks highly about Ikkaku because he is a top 10 for me and very underrated. All things considered people don't realize how skilled he actually is and if it weren't for him, Renji wouldn't have been half as effective of a combatant as he would be along with the fact Ichigo would have been dead had Ikkaku used bankai against Ichigo.
Actually in an interview kubo said that yachiru is the Shikai spirit and that Kenpachi’s bankai spirit would look like her but grown up. Hinting towards the fact that Kenpachi’s bankai is incomplete or immature

I always found it fascinating that byakuya called them brothers in the soul society arc. It’s like at first in his perspective captains are family members.
Its really interesting to think that the entire invasion in the TYBW could have been defended against by Zaraki had he had proper training like the other captians. Him with proper kendo technique AND potentially bankai mastery? yeah, idk how he loses. He should have had centuries of formal training under his belt by the time the 1st invasion took place but nope. Bro had literally 1 day of kendo.
Kenpachi is the ultimate raw talent with no formal training. If only he had both he'd be unstoppable. Funny thing is he's one of the hardest to beat even without both. ie. Taking on 2 captains bankai at once.
For a long time, I thought Yachiru being Zaraki’s zanpakto spirit was strange. But then I thought Zaraki is so strong that he manifest Yachiru into the physical world. An milestone required for a shinigami to unlock their Bankai.

Although this is an 11th division video, I feel like mentioning the fact that you say Hitsugaya has no real connection to Ichigo when he arrives in Lost Agent. Sure he doesn't share a huge connection, but he spent a lot of time with Ichigo in the Arrancar Arc, and he probably really appreciates Ichigo for taking Aizen down. Also he is one of the trusted captains, so he was asked to go since the group that was sent to help Ichigo was a group of wild card people (yes Byakuya is the model shinigami, but he does things his way for the most part).

Never read the novels but I saw somewhere that Ichika's idol is actually Mayuri! I would have thought it would be either Byakuya or Zaraki but I found that bit funny and amusing.
One thing that bothered me was that there was very little displayed interaction between the two Yachiru. I was never even sure if the younger Yachiru knew Unohana was who she was named for. I could understand why it wouldn't be obvious as far as Yachiru handing out nicknames, "Re-chan" would be preferable to "Yacchan" or "Onee-chan" since the idea is to hide that connection. But even just once, toward the end, would have been enough for me. I get why that moment was given to Tenjiro instead, but I really wish Yachiru had been the one.
Still laughing at that scene where Ichigo takes Hanatoro hostage and the one soul reaper says: “Go ahead, kill him! He’s squad 4.” Wouldn’t surprise me if that guy was squad 11.

i believe it was said somewhere that zaraki does all of the paperwork and civil duty's for 11th division mostly by himself maybe ikkaku and yumachika offer to help and he might take it but overall he is a sweety
I get the feeling that the 'home' division for Ichigo is probably the 11th. He'll never be Captain of the 11th, and I doubt he'd ever take up an officer role, but if you were to depower Ichigo and reduce him to a regular Shinigami, he'd find himself in the 11th division at least for a time. He might talk a big game about 'protecting' people, but deep down, right in the core of his being, is someone just as thirsty for battle as Kenpachi Zaraki.
Kenpachi from since the beginning he was great, it was of the earliest time they introduced the concept of Spiritual Pressure. Also I remember guessing the whole Yachiru is his blade's spirit thing pretty early on

Don't forget Unohana said choose Zaraki to be the 2° Kenpachi, but for some reason gotei decided that the captains of 11th division all will have de title of kenpachi, but never forget there can only be one kenpachi per generation, and Unohana are alive all those years.
They are the hard fighting frontline division, also take note that the members we know make a concerted effort to hide the extent of their power and abilities to encourage an a opponent to a fight that won't end well for them. They sure are the division to have at your side when things get dangerous in a conflict. Zaraki alone is the division at times.
If I were to be honest? I want to say that I DO find Kenpachi Zaraki to be very awesome. But what got me to respect him the most as well as make him as one of my favorite anime characters of all time...is that he's honest to a fault. Yes he is bloodthirsty but he does NOT hide or try to be anyone else. Anyone who is just being themselves is a great character in my book.
The Eleventh is definitely one of my favorite divisions and I really enjoy pretty much all of the major characters in it -- Zaraki is concentrated awesome, Yumichika is actually a really cool and underappreciated character, and Unohana becomes such a badass when her history and true self is revealed as the first Kenpachi. But out of the 11th Division characters that get ample story focus, Ikkaku is actually one of my personal favorite characters (top 10, for sure) in all of Bleach and I really hope that he gets another good fight (and a real _victory_ again!) in the Hell Arc if it continues, preferably using his Bankai again even if it is weakened he should be stronger than he was in the Arrancar arc. I think it would be especially cool to see him and Yumichika have a team-up battle against a stronger opponent in Hell, the two of them being forced to go against the typical 11th Division practice of fighting 1v1 and both of them finally using their hidden abilities in the open together to defeat someone that is a real threat. I think that would be a neat way to cap them off in the story, putting their pride aside to defeat someone that needs to be defeated or save someone else and letting go of their secrets/things they're hiding like Unohana and Zaraki (and Yachiru) were able to do in the TYBW. I actually hope we get to see more of Ikkaku and Yumichika fighting in the TYBW anime too since they're around a lot, but don't get a lot of direct focus in the manga. They are really some of the more ideal characters to give a bit of expanded fighting scenes to since they've been present for so much of the story and are generally pretty well-liked by the fandom as far as I'm aware. Even if it is just them fighting against and killing some Soldat or a little bit more of a skirmish with another Sternritter or something. I really like the relationship between the two as best friends and seeing them fight a tiny bit as a team against Giselle and the zombified Bambietta is actually a really cool moment and I would be happy to see more of them doing some cool stuff if possible!
It makes a lot of sense why Ichigo would bond with this division so much. For one a lot of the members dont really care that much that their duty to capture Ichigo, more so hunting him for fun and once he gains their respect they don't really bother him after that. Plus if you look at the design of "uses purely melee and has secrets" ichigo himself would fit in the division really really well
Interesting next episode,I wonder if they will adopt the full fight of Zaraki and Unohana because it will consume 7 chapters,chapter 520-526 or if ever they will end it in the middle of the fight in the exact chapter where they get the title of the episode "the drop" chapter 524.Because for me it's weird on how the transition they will do from the funny and wholesome moments of Ichigo,Renji,and Kon with Hikifune and Oetsu in the Royal Palace to the battle of Kenpachi and Unohana,for me it's good to end it in the cliffhanger Shunsui introduce Unohana as the first Kenpachi and make episode 10 the whole fight of them.
It would be smart to dedicate a whole episode to their fight. It's one of the most brutal fights in the series and it would be stupid to not give it the spotlight it deserves

Ikkaku is my favorite member...I just wish the zero squad would have taken him up and given him an updated bankai...maybe that will happen in and if we get more chapters
I love how the only squad that uses Super basic fighting techniques compared to everyone else is also the only squad that’s literally never as it seems.

I think Mayuri’s interaction with Ikkaku and Yumichika during the TYBW arc could be a callback to the seireitai arc. After Ikkaku loses to Ichigo, Mayuri tries to interrogate Ikkaku while he’s recovering. Mayuri is stopped by Zaraki though.
I know it's not a huge part of the 11th division, but I've always believed that Ikakku and Yumichika were romantic life partners. Nothing is obviously stated but the level of trust, understanding, and faith put into each other feels like more than just best friends. I know Yumichika also has the very flamboyant side of him which would be an obvious connection, but Ikkaku and his manly man self lends his personality to be the best balance to Yumichika. Plus, the two of them were connected in their history, always together before they became members of the 13 Court Guard Squads. I don't know if Tite would be able to comfortably write a gay couple since he does a lot of implications for characters being LGBTQ+ but this seems like one of the more obvious ones, just like Tatsuki.
I love the 11th Division. Every time I took a quiz to see where I would land in the Divisions as I grew older and even changed as an individual; always the 11th chose me. I never got any other. So I always LOVED, and adored Kenny. I always looked up to him and as I grew older found myself falling in deep love. Honestly if I had a chance I would admit Id date him. Haha. But I ended making a Persona for Bleach who was apart of this division and it was fun to imagine how I would live in this universe. Thank you so much for this deep review and igniting that passion within me all over again. You do bleach in it's entirety such justice it's why I love your work.
Its so stupid that central 46 told Yamamoto to stop training Zaraki. Imagine how strong he would have been before the first invasion if they didn't stop
If Yamamoto claims to be the strongest Shinigami for a 1000 years... and all of soul society including central 46 are afraid of Zaraki Kenpachi's power, then it begs the question/video discussion of who is stronger Kenpachi or Yamamoto?
Kenpachi has the potential to be strongest, but Yamamoto is still stronger than Zaraki. Yama is a master swordsman and has greater BIQ than Zaraki, plus Yama's bankai alone can erase your existence. Also if I'm not mistaken Kennys body cant hold his bankais full power (?).
Well tecnically Yamamoto have the strogest bankai, thus when he is not in bankai i think he is not the strogest shinigame after all the strogest shinigane is the kenpachi, first Unohana and know Zaraki.
Timing! Kenpachi is honestly fascinating such a popular character, but I think his potential has never been truly reached, 'cause of the opponents he faces(some exceptions exist)
It’s my birthday and I never like it ended on the last day of the month. But I find out that the 11th division video pops up and suddenly I appreciate the months I was born. I never thought much about Kenpachi as a character. Never dislike the character, but never really brought anything crazy, besides his love for battle. But as I got older, I start to realize how complex this character is once we start to know more about his past. And it’s always interesting to find out about. Through Unohana relationship, his meeting with Yachiru, and victory to Ikkaku. It always show light of the type of person he is. Kenpachi is pure and simple. And that’s one things I love about the guy, besides being a crazed murdering machine. I also like the 11 division it is a very battle oriented. If I were to choose a division it definitely be one of this one. It’s simple and straight to the point. Also it’s cool to find out that they’re based off of bravery and sincerity. Happy was born in this month.
For me bleach could be summed up in three fights and we all know which ones are: zaraki-ichigo, ichigo-ulkiorra, ichigo-aizen. The first two are epic, the last one is an abuse from ichigo's side.
So it is just an Anime thing then when people see her talking to them and they get scared all of a sudden? I thought it was they all knew she used to be the Kenpachi but we the reader and watcher were not to know.
Hey man I thought the manga said that unohana originally learned to heal so that she could heal her enemies so that the battles would go on longer, not healing herself so the battles could last longer.
I was disappointed at the 11th division in the first invasion. They're all about combat and we don't even see one of them defeating a single quincy foot soldier. Or in the lost agent Arc Ikkaku (3rd seat of the combat focused 11th division, hundreds of years of grueling training) exchanging punches with a ~15years old fullbringer, getting his Shikai broken by the kid, and his shoulder dislocated...dafuq
just thinking about this. but maybe kenpachi really wasn't healed properly and using the bankai is why his arm ruptured due to the previous injuries of Pernida?
Even tho the first kenpachi retired doesnt mean the others weren't worthy kenpachi. It's still giving the the strongest after killing the past strongest. So after a bracket style tournament of shinigami killing each other the 1 left would still be the strongest.
The thing is she never retired, she is in another division not retired, being the captain of 11th division is not what make someone be an kenpachi, killing the actual kenpachi is what make someone an kenpachi.
If I had a penny for everytime that Ikkaku and Yumichika spectated a Mayuri's fight, I'd have two pennies. Which isn't a lot, but it's strange that it happened twice.

Funny enough I didn't really like the 11th squad because they were so brutish and the way they treated the healers being the I will probably be a heater myself. One thing that bothered me was that there was very little displayed interaction between the two Yachiru. I was never even sure if the younger Yachiru knew Unohana was who she was named for. I could understand why it wouldn't be obvious as far as Yachiru handing out nicknames, "Re-chan" would be preferable to "Yacchan" or "Onee-chan" since the idea is to hide that connection. But even just once, toward the end, would have been enough for me. I get why that moment was given to Tenjiro instead, but I really wish Yachiru had been the one.
11th Division is one of the most involved in the story. Kenpachi, Ikaku and Yumichika being the main ones.

i believe it was said somewhere that zaraki does all of the paperwork and civil duty's for 11th division mostly by himself maybe ikkaku and yumachika offer to help and he might take it but overall he is a sweety

I get the feeling that the 'home' division for Ichigo is probably the 11th. He'll never be Captain of the 11th, and I doubt he'd ever take up an officer role, but if you were to depower Ichigo and reduce him to a regular Shinigami, he'd find himself in the 11th division at least for a time. He might talk a big game about 'protecting' people, but deep down, right in the core of his being, is someone just as thirsty for battle as Kenpachi Zaraki.

Kenpachi from since the beginning he was great, it was of the earliest time they introduced the concept of Spiritual Pressure.
Also I remember guessing the whole Yachiru is his blade's spirit thing pretty early on

Don't forget Unohana said choose Zaraki to be the 2° Kenpachi, but for some reason gotei decided that the captains of 11th division all will have de title of kenpachi, but never forget there can only be one kenpachi per generation, and Unohana are alive all those years.
They are the hard fighting frontline division, also take note that the members we know make a concerted effort to hide the extent of their power and abilities to encourage an a opponent to a fight that won't end well for them. They sure are the division to have at your side when things get dangerous in a conflict. Zaraki alone is the division at times.

Ikkaku is technically the Vice Captain of squad 11. Yachiru Kusajishi is Kenpachi’s zanpakuto.
If I were to be honest? I want to say that I DO find Kenpachi Zaraki to be very awesome. But what got me to respect him the most as well as make him as one of my favorite anime characters of all time...is that he's honest to a fault.
Yes he is bloodthirsty but he does NOT hide or try to be anyone else. Anyone who is just being themselves is a great character in my book.
I feel that the 11th squad under Zeraki feel almost like Yakuza. They're thugs but still follow their rules and show reverence for their captain

The Eleventh is definitely one of my favorite divisions and I really enjoy pretty much all of the major characters in it -- Zaraki is concentrated awesome, Yumichika is actually a really cool and underappreciated character, and Unohana becomes such a badass when her history and true self is revealed as the first Kenpachi. But out of the 11th Division characters that get ample story focus, Ikkaku is actually one of my personal favorite characters (top 10, for sure) in all of Bleach and I really hope that he gets another good fight (and a real _victory_ again!) in the Hell Arc if it continues, preferably using his Bankai again even if it is weakened he should be stronger than he was in the Arrancar arc. I think it would be especially cool to see him and Yumichika have a team-up battle against a stronger opponent in Hell, the two of them being forced to go against the typical 11th Division practice of fighting 1v1 and both of them finally using their hidden abilities in the open together to defeat someone that is a real threat. I think that would be a neat way to cap them off in the story, putting their pride aside to defeat someone that needs to be defeated or save someone else and letting go of their secrets/things they're hiding like Unohana and Zaraki (and Yachiru) were able to do in the TYBW.
I actually hope we get to see more of Ikkaku and Yumichika fighting in the TYBW anime too since they're around a lot, but don't get a lot of direct focus in the manga. They are really some of the more ideal characters to give a bit of expanded fighting scenes to since they've been present for so much of the story and are generally pretty well-liked by the fandom as far as I'm aware. Even if it is just them fighting against and killing some Soldat or a little bit more of a skirmish with another Sternritter or something. I really like the relationship between the two as best friends and seeing them fight a tiny bit as a team against Giselle and the zombified Bambietta is actually a really cool moment and I would be happy to see more of them doing some cool stuff if possible!

It makes a lot of sense why Ichigo would bond with this division so much. For one a lot of the members dont really care that much that their duty to capture Ichigo, more so hunting him for fun and once he gains their respect they don't really bother him after that. Plus if you look at the design of "uses purely melee and has secrets" ichigo himself would fit in the division really really well
Interesting next episode,I wonder if they will adopt the full fight of Zaraki and Unohana because it will consume 7 chapters,chapter 520-526 or if ever they will end it in the middle of the fight in the exact chapter where they get the title of the episode "the drop" chapter 524.Because for me it's weird on how the transition they will do from the funny and wholesome moments of Ichigo,Renji,and Kon with Hikifune and Oetsu in the Royal Palace to the battle of Kenpachi and Unohana,for me it's good to end it in the cliffhanger Shunsui introduce Unohana as the first Kenpachi and make episode 10 the whole fight of them.

It would be smart to dedicate a whole episode to their fight. It's one of the most brutal fights in the series and it would be stupid to not give it the spotlight it deserves

I think Mayuri’s interaction with Ikkaku and Yumichika during the TYBW arc could be a callback to the seireitai arc. After Ikkaku loses to Ichigo, Mayuri tries to interrogate Ikkaku while he’s recovering. Mayuri is stopped by Zaraki though.

I'm just now realising having watched the video that Zaraki's original hairstyle had eleven spikes, because he's in Squad 11.
You know when he talked about sword fights it hit me did he ever talk about byakuya vs koga I love that fight so much
I thought that Makizō Aramaki and Maki Ichinose would get a mention because they have similar nicknames.
I know it's not a huge part of the 11th division, but I've always believed that Ikakku and Yumichika were romantic life partners. Nothing is obviously stated but the level of trust, understanding, and faith put into each other feels like more than just best friends. I know Yumichika also has the very flamboyant side of him which would be an obvious connection, but Ikkaku and his manly man self lends his personality to be the best balance to Yumichika. Plus, the two of them were connected in their history, always together before they became members of the 13 Court Guard Squads. I don't know if Tite would be able to comfortably write a gay couple since he does a lot of implications for characters being LGBTQ+ but this seems like one of the more obvious ones, just like Tatsuki.

I love the 11th Division. Every time I took a quiz to see where I would land in the Divisions as I grew older and even changed as an individual; always the 11th chose me. I never got any other. So I always LOVED, and adored Kenny. I always looked up to him and as I grew older found myself falling in deep love. Honestly if I had a chance I would admit Id date him. Haha. But I ended making a Persona for Bleach who was apart of this division and it was fun to imagine how I would live in this universe. Thank you so much for this deep review and igniting that passion within me all over again. You do bleach in it's entirety such justice it's why I love your work.

If Yamamoto claims to be the strongest Shinigami for a 1000 years... and all of soul society including central 46 are afraid of Zaraki Kenpachi's power, then it begs the question/video discussion of who is stronger Kenpachi or Yamamoto?
Kenpachi has the potential to be strongest, but Yamamoto is still stronger than Zaraki. Yama is a master swordsman and has greater BIQ than Zaraki, plus Yama's bankai alone can erase your existence. Also if I'm not mistaken Kennys body cant hold his bankais full power (?).

Well tecnically Yamamoto have the strogest bankai, thus when he is not in bankai i think he is not the strogest shinigame after all the strogest shinigane is the kenpachi, first Unohana and know Zaraki.

Timing! Kenpachi is honestly fascinating such a popular character, but I think his potential has never been truly reached, 'cause of the opponents he faces(some exceptions exist)
It’s my birthday and I never like it ended on the last day of the month. But I find out that the 11th division video pops up and suddenly I appreciate the months I was born.
I never thought much about Kenpachi as a character. Never dislike the character, but never really brought anything crazy, besides his love for battle. But as I got older, I start to realize how complex this character is once we start to know more about his past. And it’s always interesting to find out about. Through Unohana relationship, his meeting with Yachiru, and victory to Ikkaku. It always show light of the type of person he is. Kenpachi is pure and simple. And that’s one things I love about the guy, besides being a crazed murdering machine.
I also like the 11 division it is a very battle oriented. If I were to choose a division it definitely be one of this one. It’s simple and straight to the point. Also it’s cool to find out that they’re based off of bravery and sincerity. Happy was born in this month.
For me bleach could be summed up in three fights and we all know which ones are: zaraki-ichigo, ichigo-ulkiorra, ichigo-aizen. The first two are epic, the last one is an abuse from ichigo's side.

Hey man I thought the manga said that unohana originally learned to heal so that she could heal her enemies so that the battles would go on longer, not healing herself so the battles could last longer.
I was disappointed at the 11th division in the first invasion. They're all about combat and we don't even see one of them defeating a single quincy foot soldier.
Or in the lost agent Arc Ikkaku (3rd seat of the combat focused 11th division, hundreds of years of grueling training) exchanging punches with a ~15years old fullbringer, getting his Shikai broken by the kid, and his shoulder dislocated...dafuq

just thinking about this. but maybe kenpachi really wasn't healed properly and using the bankai is why his arm ruptured due to the previous injuries of Pernida?
Even tho the first kenpachi retired doesnt mean the others weren't worthy kenpachi.
It's still giving the the strongest after killing the past strongest. So after a bracket style tournament of shinigami killing each other the 1 left would still be the strongest.
The thing is she never retired, she is in another division not retired, being the captain of 11th division is not what make someone be an kenpachi, killing the actual kenpachi is what make someone an kenpachi.
