I think most people would pay 20$ to refight any bosses in the series, especially if they added like 10 new bosses. I think even 30$ could be justifiable ngl.
@zigsynx5364 You mean like the inner fights in sekiro? All of the 'legendary' figures in previous souls games get an upgraded 'inner' version to reflect how they were in their prime. I think another good idea would be to go back and maybe improve some of the more lacking fights in the series. Imagine a ds2 boss rush where the bosses aren't painfully mediocre? Or a bed of chaos / seath the scaleless that actually manages to be fun. You could remake bosses with mechanics of other games in mind -- BoC with sekiro's platforming in mind, or a mytha fight where she does a tail sweep that can be jumped, etc... NOW THAT would be well worth £30
@zigsynx5364 yeah I don’t think that would be possible if I can beat all ds1 bosses with a 20$ game why would I even play the original game, Don’t get me wrong I really want a boss rush mode but this is not the way

I want a nice little cutscene/art/narrative exposition in the game that justifies how we're experiencing the Fromsoft cinematic universe over here. Doesn't have to be elaborate, or lengthy, just something with care and thought put into it. I don't doubt they'll deliver; they've done so in every game of theirs to date. For me personally, It would just really help alleviate the dysphoria of seeing so many reused assets
Way i see it for the reused darksouls bosses, all the ones picked have specific potential for a multifight. Centipede demon can split into pieces, duke's looks like it could split down the middle into two, and the nameless king could potentially dismount and fight alongside his dragon simultaniously. I think it's not a mystory why such specific bosses were selected for multiplayer souls.
I am a PvP guy, but I will support FROM in every endeavor they choose to pursue. I will play this game day in and out in hope they give us a 3v3 battle royal type of game. If this had a 3v3 component it would be GOTY
Chinese IGN mentioned that they included three Tree Sentinels in the game. I believe that aside from the final boss, most enemies won’t have significant changes but a gank fight, but still I think if they do change the old boss movement, it would pretty hard to work in roguelike mechanics
What i want is for the game to be slowed down and turned back into the deliberate, methidical dungeon crawler that made me fall in love with Dark Souls in the first place.
I hope this will be modable like the seamless coop mod was. My boy only plays elden ring with me if he can play as the destined one from black myth wukong.
I think we can expect returning bosses/enemies to be revamped. We know Centipede Demon can automounasly detach the smaller centipedes now, and I swear I saw an IGN article saying Margit had a new AoE.
I think some people need to realize that they are most likely testing a bunch of new features to add into future games before they put it into a big game. They also might be using this to train the new staff. Using old assets makes it easier to try new things without having to build a new game from the ground up. This is also probably their B or C team.
Im glad this isn't a full priced game, but it's a fun experience to keep us busy while another big project is in the works. Unlike Dark Souls II with a rushed project, system strained, inexperienced, and loss of direction. Miyazaki isn't at the head of this project, but he has given a green light to an experienced project lead and even helped the earlier stages of the project. A boss-rush, rogue-like, co-op game with Elden Ring combat feel sounds like a fun idea.
Agree. FromSoft really needs to step ut their game, as most boss games these days let you refight bosses. FromSoft needs to abandon the inconsistencies.
I love souls combat and I’m even okay with the re used assets made into a bite sized gameplay loop. What scares me is this being really good and successful. I dont want FS to stop making the deep immersive experiences we all love.
I think peoples expectations for the reused Dark Souls Bosses is a bit too high. Id like Fromsoft to add new moves to them but I dont think that this is gonna be the case for Nightreign. I think they will most likely adjust the speed of the boss moveset but not really add new moves. Imo that will be off limits for such a side project.
Even if this is not a masterpiece, certainly From will learn from this and perhaps it will introduce new concepts and mechanics that will blossom in future IP.
@loaf1712 Sure thing. 1. It's super satisfying to learn how the Godskins work before the Duo because you get several examples before. 2. Once you understand each Godskin, the battle flows extremely well. Pick your Godskin basically like Smough & Ornstein. 3. There are a lot of generous and well-deserved punish windows. 4. The Noble's roll can be countered with the middle section of pillars which admittedly is the worse design in the whole fight in my opinion and doesn't make sense or is fair to unaware players. 5. The challenge of keeping one Godskin in the arena is very intense, similar to the Four Kings. 6. Parrying is also a fun route to take because it offers i-frames that can save you from attacks while dealing damage. I just don't recommend Apostle since it takes two successful parries. 7. It's a boss that requires the most strategic planning to accomplish due to how chaotically unpredictable it can be but in an immensely entertaining manner. You must adapt quickly depending on the situation. 8. When the Noble is rolling on a broken pillar, it creates an unique combat scenario with range caution. I wish I had ten points but that's just off the top my head at the moment.
I would like Jumping/Low Profiling/Positioning/Roll Discipline/Strafing to be paramount to pure spectacle. How they would work that in a 3v1 environment I don't know. Okay so here's the thing. I have a few examples of my own. Should we get an ER 2 especially after i played the DLc and saw what can actually fit in a map there's no way me or anyone else will settle with less. Each region of the sequel must be as diverse and complex as this.

What i personally want from this spin-off is just a new perspective on how fromsoft can develop the base systems that we associate with souls. We take a lot of stuff to be "essential" to souls simply because there isnt really a tested alternative, like for example why is leveling our characters essentially just a number allocator where i put points into vigor or strength or whatever? People dont really question it because its sort of always been there, and we already know the leveling system is gonna be changed drastically in nightreign and will be more centered around these "relics" that are acquired post runs. Same with the multiplayer systems, why do we need summon signs and passwords? Can't we just have a lobby? Is it really that intrinsic to souls that we cant leave behind an archaic mechanic because its "unique" and has always been there? Besides Sekiro and AC6 (which arent really souls games anyway), dark souls 2 was the only souls game that really experimented with everything, and most of it ended up pretty shit ngl, but at least it experimented, it didnt play it safe, and it still got us mechanics like power-stancing, bonfire ascetics, actual functioning left-handed movesets (why in god's name is it the only game with this). I think Nightreign is inherently an exciting prospect because there arent really stakes, the game is very clear in that it isnt canon, its a spin-off that has nothing to do with the base game, its going for a completely different progression system, its a rogue-like which is something fromsoft has never done. Its like the game is being made purely to experiment and have fun, my only concern is that even if it turns out really good people wont give it a fair shot (case in point, AC6 is an absolute masterpiece but it sold a fraction of what elden ring and most other fromsoft games sold).
Maybe introduce a boss that doesn’t make parry tactics a slog. Malenia take three and radahn takes 5. Absolutely unnecessary considering they don’t take massive riposte damage. Maybe the boss can parry you too, then heals from its riposte…. Also, brigand twin dagger moveset. I want that back. The new twin dagger moveset sucks
I havent watched all of your videos in case you have, but what do you mean the dup bosses in ER are bad? I kind of know what you mean with godskin duo sharing a health bar.
bro my ONLY issue with this game, really the only one... is the price. As long as its cheaper than Shadow of the Erdtree, Im down for it, but I do not want to spend a lot of money for a game where I will fight Margit, Tree Sentinel and Idk... Death Bird?? several times again and some new bosses. It might become really boring really quickly and its the most explicit reuse of assets game of theirs yet, so I only ask for a fair price 🙏🏽
i think something's extremely important to keep in mind is that nightreign is just a side project for people to enjoy while fromsoft works on it's next big title. imo elden ring is a sign that the souls formula has reached its apotheosis. shadow of the erdtree, a very competent dlc in and of itself was even considered disappointing by many. my take would be that this is a filler game, while the fromsoft takes its time to reinvent the wheel with their next major title. so all i need this game to be is just being fun. like the next game is gonna take so long, this is not meant to be a huge title.
Elden Ring is their max, as stated by Miyazaki. It would be silly to make a go at Elden Ring 2 or anything remotely close. I really like that Fromsoft is looking to spice up their souls gameplay mechanics, shadow of the erdtree made it clear that it was beginning to stagnate (in comparison to the bosses). What I mean is boss quality has been progressing at a faster rate compared to the average player flow of gameplay mechanic.
@ honestly the souls formula went dry back in ds3. Still imo ds3 has a stronger cast of bosses than elden ring. the two later games, sekiro and elden ring all deviated off of the formula. they have to reinvent the wheel this time around for their next major project.
@@hellogoodbye3786Miyazaki explicitely said that Elden Ring is really close to what his ideal perfect game would be like but still not close enough for him, so no Elden Ring is not their max as he said they can still do better

No. From's games haven't gotten better as time has gone on. Undeniably, the tech behind them has improved, the engine has evolved and their tools have gotten better. But the games' quality is much more a result of the use they make of those tools rather than the tools themselves. The quality is also a sum of many components that have had their peaks and low spots. I'd argue the environment architecture has hit its highest point yet in Elden Ring, while lore hasn't been topped since DS1. I'm not saying x game is the best or that they're going downhill, but you certainly can't draw a simple "later = better" throughline.
“The games haven’t gotten better as time has gone on” And then he proceeds to list 4 ways on how they got better as time went on. What is your metric for “getting better” then?
@@loaf1712 My point is that the quality of the games is a sum of many parts, and while some have been executed better in later games, others have regressed. It fluctuates. As such, you can't really reduce their evolving design into a rule that simple. And you missed the point. What you mistook for "ways the games have gotten better" are just the tools they use to make the games, not the end work itself. Think of it this way: a modern good quality camera can record much higher quality film than one from 30 years ago. It can even capture shots that would've previously been impossible. CGI has also become almost lifelike, making it possible to blend reality and fiction to a much greater extent. Undeniably, the filming technology has improved substantially. But those are just tools for creating films. Or would you say Rise of The Skywalker is better than A New Hope because it was produced with better tools?
@@comradecatbug5289 I don’t really care what fanciful terminology you want to spew, or these little analogies and tangents that aren’t relevant either. Everything you have to say is quite subjective and disingenuous. Comparing Demons souls (the first game in the series) to Elden Ring (Last game in the series) is quite objective proof that fromsoft games have gotten better as time went on. If you want to disagree with that, then that’ll REALLY be news. Some things are executed better, some things are executed the same, and some are worse. This is the case for all games, but the quality of these games is judged on how much the good outweighs the bad. Elden ring is much better in terms of gameplay, fluidity, complexity, atmosphere, and build variety than any game that precedes it. Do you want to chalk up the vast amount of praise it’s gotten from the entire video game community to them sticking on the safe side and reusing tools without expanding upon them? It’s easier for a video game company to reuse tools going forward, and it provides them the unique opportunity to improve upon what already exists. This is a given. Fromsoftware does it in such a way that even though certain aspects are reused, there’s always more change than there is stagnancy. Simply playing these games should provide you with the knowledge of how fundamentally different they function from one another. The games have been evolving with every single entry. In other words…getting better
@@comradecatbug5289 nobody is drawing a “later=better throughline” as you call it. People hate ds2 more than ds1 (myself included). Now I want to hear it from you. What makes Ds1’s story telling the best in the series, where does Elden ring fall short, and how does this equate to a failing of the games to surpass the previous entry? So you’re claiming that Elden Ring fails to surpass previous entries because of one aspect that hasn’t even gotten worse but largely remained the same? What about all the other things I listed that it does better?
I understand wanting cross-platform, but not for a fromsoft game. with how little care they take for cheaters, i don't want to be exposed to PC players again LOL. Sure, cross between PS and Xbox, but NOT PC. Let them stay with eachother lol
I’m fine with people being critical of Elden Ring as well as Nightreign for reusing assets too much. I think that’s entirely fair issue and concern to have. All I wish is that people would stop putting on their rose-tinted glasses and presenting it as an argument for the older games being better. Dark Souls 1 had 7 Taurus demons standing in a lava lake, standing in a way that looked like the developer mouse-click dropped them into the scene and then went home for the day. Dark Souls 2 has numerous examples of recycling content, including one of the three major bosses of the Iron King DLC being “Smelter Demon, but now he’s blue”, along with several base game bosses that clearly just piggy back off ideas from the first title, most noteable among them being the Belfry Gargoyles who’re so shameless in their imitation that they straight up reused the Bell Gargoyles soundtrack instead of creating/using a new theme. Dark Souls 3 made a lot of callbacks with several in-game items and areas, and I’ve been around in the Souls community for long enough to remember when people said that made DS3 a bad game. Anor Londo Cathedral in Irithyll was labeled as “pandering to DS1 fans” and “copying DS1”. FromSoftware have been doing this sort of stuff the whole time, so let’s stop acting as if seeing the same boss or enemy multiple times is somehow this novel concept that Elden Ring supposedly invented. People online are really exposing their, “It’s more forgivable when the game _I like_ does it,” bias with these complaints. Either every game in the series is bad for reusing assets, or none of them are - take your pick.
Yeah no none of the games reused bosses on this scale, Elden ring was just way too big and they couldn't handle it, Hope they go back to making linear stuff because Elden ring would have been 200x better if they just kept it linear.
I hope they add a boss replay/rush mode into the main game and DLC. This is by far the most requested feature in Elden Ring history.

@@hellogoodbye3786Miyazaki explicitely said that Elden Ring is really close to what his ideal perfect game would be like but still not close enough for him, so no Elden Ring is not their max as he said they can still do better
as someone who likes rogue likes and never beat elden ring cause its too much, this sounds perfect for me who likes online games... fromsoftware archaic ass systems are so dumb, esp with multiplayer.. and now nightreign doesn't even have voice or text chat.. in a dam online game is insane.. they are backwards as hell
the game being co op focused and not having cross play ATLEAST between consoles is stupid
“The games haven’t gotten better as time has gone on”
And then he proceeds to list 4 ways on how they got better as time went on.
No Crossplay is the biggest L by far
I understand wanting cross-platform, but not for a fromsoft game. with how little care they take for cheaters, i don't want to be exposed to PC players again LOL. Sure, cross between PS and Xbox, but NOT PC. Let them stay with eachother lol
Great Video, the question is I have will every single (Area) including Shadow Of The Erdtree have this rush so called mode and new bosses. Hmm.
@Maddoxoxox I think something between bloodborne's level design and elden ring's legacy dungeons will be perfect.
it's because you're depressed
