I'm a little unhinged I guess so I didn't look up meta shit to clear all of the chalice dungeons or any of them. Amygdala and rom were fine. 1hr of grinding at mergo's loft w/the moon runes and you can lvl enough to do pretty much anything. Keeper of the old lords was cool af, as was yharnam, and I liked the abhorrent beast on the arena you can fall off of, and the headless one that the wormy parasite bursts out of. Rom belongs in the chalice dungeon because spiders in a ruined landscape, instead of on a lake, are more appropriate. Simple as that. At a mere glance, one may ascertain that they belong down there. It doesn't take any great stretch of the imagination to see that, silly. ❤

I have never found a bloodborne video I’ve almost universally disagreed with there are occasional options I agree with but the video feels all over the place and most of the reviews are the fight is shit and boring but they look cool the criticisms feel so weak and the praise feels even weaker

As a certified Laurence enjoyer, let me try to explain why in this comment so you can have a better idea of the things to like about his fight, since you said you didn't really get it. First off, his OST is my favorite song from any game. Full stop. Genuinely a peak composition. Beyond that, Laurence is just a phenomenal character. Yes, he is an asset flip in his first phase, but he's an asset flip with purpose. I believe firmly that it wasn't any sort of laziness or time crunch that inspired that decision or else Fromsoft wouldn't have put so much effort into making all new animations for phase 2. It's not that Laurence is a Cleric Beast, but that the Cleric Beast resembles Laurence. He came first. I'm a fan of the visual design, and he seems like he is perpetually in pain, which is a fitting fate for the horrors he subjected Yharnam to. Mechanically, I think his damage is greatly overtuned, and I wish phase 1 had a new move or two. My proposal would be to remove his gap closing leap and add a ranged fire attack that leaves pools of lava on the ground that he's hard coded to only use if he's at range. It would make him a whole lot less mobile, add to the positional awareness phase 2 encourages, and encourage you to take the fight to him and play as aggressive as possible. I enjoy the mechanics of phase 2 as well, but I will concede that it's really a like it or hate it vibe. Overall, I would put the fight in A tier amongst Fromsoft bosses as the mechanics aren't bad enough to drag down the design, music, and lore.

my friend, you should try fighting Maria without a gun, even her phirst phase can be a maneace. As u said, its usually pretty easy and goes by fast with parries and r1 spam, but if you stay ling enough for her to transform her weapon into the twinblade and you actually have to dodge it, things get messy 😬

I couldn’t get into bloodborne. Loved Elden ring to death but bloodborne was boring 🥱 and I didn’t like the lore or the idea of everything being a dream in a hunters nightmare. Seemed anticlimactic to me.

I hope they revisit chalice dungeons. To me, they're a great idea jist badly implemented.

It’s insane how many people in the comments love chalice dungeons imo. I hated them, thought they were a slog and just lacked any of the aspects that make these games enjoyable. The only thing I can be happy for is I feel they set the groundwork for the elden ring dungeon design (which aren’t amazing) but surely a step up from what they did here.

I personally don’t care for the chalice dungeons, i tried a few, then decided i don’t have time for them. So I never did them… so they didn’t upset me… and so they didn’t affect the way I perceive bloodborne, which might be why it’s still my favorite fromsoft game 🤷‍♂️ I imagine if I forced myself to do them, I’d perhaps feel the same way about the game. I find ER filler to be the same quality level as the chalice dungeons, it’s just that it’s all in the open world… which frustrated me, because I would just encounter the same thing over and over just by exploring… and it ended up discouraging exploration after a while…. And it caused me to not enjoy ER as much because exploration was its best feature for the first half of the game…. at least, chalice dungeons are separate and are admittedly filler. So you can just skip them altogether and carry on with your day. And I appreciate that about them

Also if the flowers during the Gehrman fight turned red, it’d be too much like the fight with The Boss in MGS3

Quick note on the snake ball boss: I think it might have been one of those Fromsoft bosses that were sat on until they could execute it better (I.e. ulcerated tree spirit), and I think it may have been upcycled into Rykard

Godskin duo cant be that hard wtf. I used summons for most bosses on my first run but i did these fuckers solo on my first try

Im at mergos loft in the base game and on the orphan of kos in the dlc currently. My most attempted boss so far is father Gascoigne 😂😂😂

I, for my part, love the Moon Presence, it's my favorite designed boss in the game, because it's just a pathetic, weak squirrel at it's core, which is what the Moon Presence really is. She can deceive, she can control, she can do anything except one thing and that is fighting, because she never had a reason to brawl with anything. All the time of her existence she didn't need to learn how to fight or how to defend herself, simply because nothing really came close to her and then when she embraced us, expecting another good vessel for her, suddenly she feels it, a power so strong, that even the Moon Presence can control it. She grows mad at first, trying to quickly get rid of you, flailing around with her arms, hoping that you just poof out of existence, but when we fight back and oh boy do we fight back, she becomes scared. The Moon Presence fears to no longer be one of the strongest Great Ones out there, she fears to lose her power, her influence, everything she did was just another sliver of health away to be lost forever. The Moon Presence is really a pathetic being in the fight and that's why I love her so much. She looks imposing, she's practically the ultimate reason behind most of the stuff that happens during our journey. But in the end, she's just a weak frail kitten, who never learned how to defend herself in a situation where as something or someone might grow stronger than her.

The constant lies of p comparisons are pretty asinine considering the size of the team behind lies of p. It was never intended to be a fromsoft competitor and discussing it as such just sounds so whiny

I get why people don't like chalice dungeons but I don't get why they don't like them THAT MUCH they would never stop talking about how bad they are. The dog is btw a nice boss that becomes especially interesting when encounter it on layer 5 of cursed dungeon. A true challenge. I've played about 400 hours of blood borne and probably like 250-300 of them are chalice dungeons. They are random and may surprise you all the time. They may be repetitive but sometimes they get created the wrong way (you get to know how they are supposed to be created after a while) . Now that there is a way to play bb on pc I hope community will make a mod to rework chalice dungeons. They are nice but they can be greatly improved and have a huge potential to become even better experience.

I completely disagree with the ds2 dlcs but to each their own.

Messmer, radahn and the other good sote bosses deserve to be high on EVERYONES list, just lower than lugwig. Even the grunting he does after his attacks are just so epic, and assimilate perfectly in all the other aspects that make a good boss fight, a great one, (no pun intended).

Chalices are just bonus...I liked them

Bloodborne, while a great game with amazing bosses, is made whole by the level design. There's nothing to proves this point more accurately than chalice dungeons which are literally bloodborne without actual level design.

Gael and Midir are equal for me. I haven't had as much fun fighting fightimg a boss besides those two, even in Shadow of the Erdtree the bosses aren't as fun. They remain at the top.
