A rare chance to hear a great voice in its natural, unadulterated glory. We get to hear Tate's voice bounce off the walls of the room, standing three feet from the mike, with no effects or studio tricks. If there was ever any doubt as to his abilities, this is proof that he is the real deal.
Saw him in nashville in June. He still has it no matter what they say. Try screaming out your brains for 30 years and see what happens to you. Geoff IS Queensryche and always will be. Ryche on Geoff...i love you!@!I love you...did i say I LOVE YOU!!!!
Geoff has one of the most amazing voices ever he has always sounded the same live and on records, which makes him a real vocalist unlike all the electronic "enhancements" now. queensryche, rush and megadeth are the only bands I have seen that sound the same and true to the music they put out.
damn!!! what a voice!!!! I regret it back then in the 80's I never cared for Queensryche. They're an awsome band and one of the greatest voices of rock...amen.
@tzimani1234 his voice overpowers both guitars. and did you notice there's backing vocals? it's a waste of time having them because you can't hear them over Geoff's monster of an instrument.
Relax people, even though Queensrÿche aren't glam at all, his comment is valid. He said they were a jewel and this made his day, that isn't so bad at all now is it? I don't care what they are, but I love this song and the riff is among my very favorites!
there's always 3 sides to every break up, his, theirs and the truth somewhere in the middle. if GT had left QR when DeGarmo left the other 3 would've been done.
Geoff Tate is truly one of most influential singers of. Our time He .Take hold of the flame and Queen of the Reich are 2 songs that truy showcased. Geoff Tate's unique vocal style and creating his own style which can't be DUPLICATED! A true Godfather of prog vocals .
@mike11pisano You do realist the two songs you highlighted are straight out metal right? They only really started to get progressive with Rage for Order and only went full prog on Promised Land. Always kinda bugs me as well when people always pick out early sings with Geoff wailing in that fifth octave as a demonstration of his vocal ability. What about tracks like Anybody Listening, Out of Mind, Lady Jane, One More Time and Someone Else? All vocal masterpieces, none of them being as high in range as the earliest stuff.
Great voice. To bad he was the reason DeGarmo (the true talent) left the band. That tends to happen when you're an asshole , starting physical altercation and spitting on your own bandmates ????? Yep , that'll do it....
brilliant acoustic vocal performance...just voice,without effects!actually his style is hard,so sometimes it's not perfect-he knows this..aging,usually singing techniques improves,+gets stronger,when all things,meaning''instrument''heals..thanks for sharing!
Awesome voice!! His voice is a little a softer Dickinson. I had never seen a guy singing such demanding heavy metal vocals in a room with no amps nor effects... No bullshit like that. Just a man singing + some guitars.
@FatalPies Yeah, Dickinson's great - but he's always done pretty much just one thing with his voice. Tate had range, style, tone, a whole myriad of dynamics.
What the hell was that? What Geoff did to be compared with hell? If you have this look at 55 years of age, ask him to marry me, ok? Geoff Tate razes at any time.
Val Faria thank you very much. yeah Geoff sounds awesome here, even tho I think some of his range was gone (which is understandable). but that power at 1:04 is crazy. he is truly one of the best metal vocalists ever.

I love to listen to this man sing. He is amazing.
I believe Geoff Tate was born in 1959, and if you check out his most recent videos of him singing this song, he's still got the pipes.

Love Geoffs voice!❤
My opinion Geoff Tate has the best voice of all time when he sings I get chills
💯🎯
Met this gorgeous man in August, believe me, he's still got it!!! 💗
It is now 2024 and I saw and met him in March of this year. He definitely still has it now at 65 years old! The absolute G.O.A.T.
That voice. The unmistakable sound of Geoff Tate.
One of the legends in glam rock history, QR remains as a jewel for those who know how it all works! Amazing job, thanks, this made my day!

awesome solo, Tate's voice still rocks, and rockin version of the song!! Thx for posting this.

Perfection
Ty I listen to this live. Wow. Love you Tate.

Lovely! Thanks!

nice behind the scenes......when did this jam happen? Is the guy in front Whip??
Wow, that's the description I was trying to put in now that I've know them for a year or so. I'm happy Geoff recovered his voice after this.
Nice......nice.
Geoff Tate was one of the best vocalists in hard rock.
brilliant acoustic vocal performance...just voice,without effects!actually his style is hard,so sometimes it's not perfect-he knows this..aging,usually singing techniques improves,+gets stronger,when all things,meaning''instrument''heals..thanks for sharing!
Wow
I wish he had kept the hair. He looked so badass
So does he.
I think bald is more badass in his case
No words
Holly cow, Tate is no joke!
My Boy!
wow, big voice..........
this was live in Spokane
Geoff Tate is the GOAT
Awesome voice!! His voice is a little a softer Dickinson. I had never seen a guy singing such demanding heavy metal vocals in a room with no amps nor effects... No bullshit like that. Just a man singing + some guitars.
@FatalPies Yeah, Dickinson's great - but he's always done pretty much just one thing with his voice.
Tate had range, style, tone, a whole myriad of dynamics.
This is my "Veteran of the Psychic Wars..."
@Bursayu He may not have lost his voice, but he most certainly lost his range. He's human, so he's forgiven.
@xXPrometheousXx I live in Louisville. I dont recall that show. When was it?
Geoff Tate rocks forever!!!
wow...
i wonder if michael still gets chills hearing geoff sing
fucki know i would
@jennc2112
So True.
The 2009 version of the song (seen somewhere else) is even better.
Doesn't sound like he's lost nothing vocal wise,GREAT singer, always has been, hope they put out better music soon though!
What year is this from?
When is it?
He may look like hell, but his voice is still there
What the hell was that? What Geoff did to be compared with hell? If you have this look at 55 years of age, ask him to marry me, ok? Geoff Tate razes at any time.
He looked cool when this cover was made, but he certainly looks like hell now -without hair and that old-man clothing he wears :/
1:05 to 1:11 is heaven to me and I pray I hear it on my death bed!
anyone have any idea when this was recorded?
In 2008 There are several recordings like this. Geoff always wonderful!!!
Val Faria thank you very much. yeah Geoff sounds awesome here, even tho I think some of his range was gone (which is understandable). but that power at 1:04 is crazy. he is truly one of the best metal vocalists ever.
Geoff sounded great here, however you could tell he's shying away from the higher notes in the chorus
Tate doesnt need to be ,,Amplified,, !!
Oh my, his voice is just too much........
11 years comment that's nice ;)
Iron Maiden too. \m/
1 dislike?? He must be the one that's too old & thinks it's too loud!!!!
