Shoutout to the sound engineers, the camera operators and the lighting engineers, who helped make this happen.
I did security backstage for a couple a shows on the Building Empires Tour. Loud!!! Let me say this. Probably one of the nicest most professional band I’ve ever been around. Humble, Definitely educated. Don’t come with no stupid question type of band. Chris Degarmo you are a class act.
I've met them several times, and they were all so nice, and down to earth! I'm glad to hear you had the same experience. How fantastic it must have been for you to have that job! Lucky!
@@purplekat5864 Yes, when I think about them at that time which was their peak. I think they were all married or close to it and it seemed like a family operation. So, you get a song like "Jet City Woman" which is a love song dedicated to the women in their lives. I think that had lot to do with their professionalism backstage and how they conducted themselves, they were grounded. They were almost boring and not into the groupie thing. I also think that's why Chris left the band after the next album Promise Land. To raise a family.

Also, interesting that none of them had tattoos (except for that small Triryche Chris did himself on his upper arm), which was atypical for the metal scene. I loved how serious they were about the music, and that they weren't just in it for "fringe benefits". I really respect them, and I'm glad to hear that you worked closely with them and felt the same. ☺️

When DeGarmo left, everything changed. But what a band till then. Incredible musicianship and songwriting. I love the Operation and Empire albums and I often still go back to them, and Im 67 now. Empire was one of those albums where every track was outstanding and well executed and engineered. In my mind, it is a true classic, on par with anything the greatest bands have done in a single album.

I was 15 years old at 2004 at Sofia, Bulgaria. I go to see main band Judas Priest. What I heard from Queensryche is something that still makes me change my mind over the years later. Incredible music, 20 years later I am still listening it as my favourite band ❤

Alltime favorite band! The Warning lp grabbed me like no other album has to this time. Hooked ever since. I listened to this and it took me back to a place in time that so many today will never experience. Wow a true master of vocals GT! It’s all installed for life, so grateful to have lived it.
This is the only "Unplugged" session I've ever heard that I give any (personal) merit to. They re-arranged the tracks to sound as if they were meant to be this way, instead of playing the originals through acoustic guitars. "I Will Remember" is the highlight for me. I enjoyed QR up to "Hear in the Now Frontier" and the albums with Todd LaTorre, but this time period (and my fave album "Promised Land") was very special. It's a crying shame that Chris DeGarmo left the biz, he was a hell of a writer and guitarist. The Fathers of Prog Metal (along with my fave band *Fates Warning* who ended in 2023, but sadly didn't have the following Queensrÿche had) will not be forgotten in the progression of Metal. Been a fan since _before_ their debut EP was released. - Thank you soo much for uploading this!
Tate and DeGarmo made this band what it was. Go look up a live performance of “Someone Else” and you’ll see guitar virtuoso DeGarmo… on piano!! Which is interesting because Tate grew up a classical trained pianist himself. Such amazing musicians!

Def on the top of their game there. Geoff Tate had great vocal accuracy (without modern pitch-correct) and the guys were musically very tight. Impressive stuff..

I wish they would have kept the original lineup. They would have been even bigger. People didn't really start catching on until they were about at the end.
No autotune, no backing tracks, no special effects.... Just pure talent, top playing/ singing skills and good taste. So rare these days.

Grunge took over for several reasons one of the biggest being 80's bands became a formula and mold. Grunge broke that mold!
