I’m ready to start making mystic harmony squares in various color patterns just to experiment! I also want to let you know how much I appreciate you showing the magic ring and invisible join in your videos…saves me from having to stop your video and find another to figure it out!
Thank you, so glad you like this square. I have started to show the techniques now as I use them, but there are individual videos on them as well done slowly and close up, just in case you need another point of view. So glad it helps you to see them as I use them in the actual tutorials. Enjoy
Muito lindo. Vou tentar fazer. Jane você é uma ótima professora, estou apreendendo muito com seus videos. Obrigada ! Jane you're the Best theacher.Thank you ❤
Oh myyyyyy! These are gorgeous! I love how you put such a classy twist on the traditional square. I love the splashes of color too. Girl I love your style.
I just caught myself staring at both squares for at least five minutes because I tried to figure out which one I would prefer (which isn't easy because they are both beautiful). I think I like the one on the right a bit more because 1. it looks more solid and 2. the flower stands out more, it is more accentuated (if you know what I mean). Anyway, I love this square and thank you for sharing it 💐🌷🌹🌸🌺
Thanks so much, totally understand, I make a variety of colours ways to figure out which one I like best and often just confuse myself lol, because I like them all! It is fun to see how much a square can change just by switching the order of the colours. So glad you are inspired by this design, Enjoy
Very pretty and so useful in many sizes and yarn weights. I'm planning my next 15:05 project based on this design. Everything is so clear. Thank you Jane. 😊
I saw a beautiful long cardigan on Pinterest made with black, white, and gray granny squares that looked so elegant!! Elegant and granny square were never 2 words I thought I would use together lol! This is a GREAT video! I might just try that elegant cardigan. 😀
So glad you like this one. Colours can really class it up can't they?! It would make a beautiful cardigan. I have a coat I made in blacks and browns and I get complimented on it all the time. Give it a go!
Love this pattern and color combination!! I just love your videos!!! You explain everything so clearly. I’ve learned so much from you. Your invisible join method has improved my crocheting so much!!
Hi Jane, just crocheted Mystic Harmony square for a bag, now am starting on the bag itself, then I shall be stitching the Harmony motif in the front of the bag, will line it and turn it into a front pocket for the iPhone bag 😅thanks so much for sharing, love all your new inventions , love you too 🤗😍🙏🏻
Thank you for this very fine video. I had some problems from the 6th row reg finding the correct insertions due to very irregular stitches, I think. I wonder if there are some chains or stitches that must be worked, for instance all ch2's or the center of 3 dc-clusters or something? I'm seeking for some rules to guide me to stay on the right track in spite of troublesome stitches. Thanks again, you are very good.
You are welcome. On Round 6, you are only working into every second stitch and chain spaces count as a "stitch" in this circumstance. This is the transition round from the first squaring off of the flower shape into a border. We want to have a sc and ch-2 pattern across each edge for this round. This is achieved by sometimes working into a stitch and sometimes a ch-sp. It can seem confusing, so follow the video step by step. However the pattern is to consider both stitches and chain spaces as the same and to only work into every second one with a chain 2 worked in between the stitches and over top of the skipped stitch. Hope this helps. There is a written pattern on my blog if you need to read that Round in pattern form. Thanks for watching.
Hey Jane, I love your tutorials, n tips!! I’ve been using them in my grannies!! Love all your different grannies tutorials. Perhaps I missed it but can you link tell me how big these squares are using a size I hook?? I like that hook for my grannies. Sometimes use a J hook as well. I like a bit floppy square also!!! I’d think these are 7”-8” squares??? Great job as always!!! Blessings! 🌺
Thanks so much. This square is 6" using an I ( 5.5mm) hook. These should work on a J hook as well and you might find them softer and more airy that way. Good luck.
What beautiful color combinations. I love the stitch definition from this yarn but I'm unable to find what brand of yarn has been used both in the video and on your blog. The colors and weight of yarn used for these squares are stated clearly but no mention of the brand. What did I miss?? Thank you for the awesome tutorial. I look forward to learning about the yarn used.
Thanks so much, I list the brands on the blog post with the colour names. There is a variety of Bernat, Red Heart and Loops and Threads here. They are under the Supplies on the blog post. Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much, yes it is a version of a standing single crochet. Usually the original form has a slip knot to start on the hook, but I do it without the slip knot because I like less bulk. So I hesitate to call it that because of this difference, basically though you are right, it is a standing single crochet minus the slip knot. Thanks so much for watching, Enjoy 😊
@@jspcreate I agree, it can get bulky I think people use the slipknot within their standing stitches to attach to reinforced the strength of the connection of the new fabric to the project, making it less likely to unravel….. at least that’s my theory, I have done it both ways…. It’s comfortable and useful stitch especially if you prefer to have a normal shaped stitch rather than a chain as a stitch😀
It really is a nicer join, I dislike knots, so I tend to weave yarn around the stitches as I work them, as much as possible. So glad you are enjoying the videos 😊
I love that square it’s one of my favourite patterns!! Jane, would you be able to share information about the crochet hooker using today on this video please??
So glad you like the square, the crochet hook is a Susan Bates Silvalume Ergonomic. I love them because the grip is comfy and resilient and the hook has length to it. I use them everyday and the grips are still in great shape. I have picked mine up at my local Michaels.
@@jspcreate that’s great thank you for telling me the name of that hook, I’m dealing with arthritis and osteoporosis in my hands and wrists, and I have begun researching hooks and don’t like shopping online typically because you can’t get a realistic view of the product…. I’ll be sure to check Michael’s craft store more often. I don’t recall seeing that particular hook before…… perhaps they have a quick product turnover& I would be surprised if that is the case!
@@jspcreate thanks for posting the name of the hook, using Google to search. I also find that they are sold at Walmart and not bad of a price!! Excellent investment for 2024!!
Researching further shows that Michael’s in Canada, not sure about in US has a package of five of these hooks from 4 mm up to 6.5 mm it looks like there’s a sale, $16.99 plus tax until (tomorrow) 14 March 2024, and the coupon necessary to purchase the item at that price👍🎉🇨🇦
I weave my ends as I go all the time now (except when I am working a tutorial on camera). I am a bit of a numbers girl, so I have timed myself both ways lol and it is faster for me to work them in as I go now that I'm used to it. It is also soooo nice not to have to go back at the end and work all the ends in. When the square is finished, it is actually finished, such a good feeling.
TH-cam looks after the subtitles, just go into the settings and change your preference to the language you want, then turn on captions. I also have the free pattern on my blog with all the numbers, link is in the description. Thanks for watching.

Haha, thanks so much
I absolutely love your choice of colors for this and Blue Skye but I can't get the squaring off to work out. I love challenges so I'll keep trying.
Glad you like them, sometimes it is just practice and time, and then one day it works, let me know how it goes for you.

Your technique for joining the single crochet without having the extra bulk I believe the technical term is “standing single crochet“ stitch

Do you have a pattern for this black and white throw?
I don't have one for this square yet, but I have made a few, so I just need to get a pattern finalized for it.
Could I weave the ends as I go, or would it be too long compared to weaving after?
I weave my ends as I go all the time now (except when I am working a tutorial on camera).
