That’s one of the best tutorials for the magic ring I’ve ever watched. Given how many people have trouble with the MR, I plan to recommend this video in all my crochet groups!
You made my day with your kind compliment. I am so glad you found this one helpful, it can be a tricky technique to explain, but very useful once you learn it. Thanks for watching, Enjoy!
I came to the comments to write exactly the same 👍🏼 Some crocheters make it look so complicated and as a beginner I’ve avoided it but following this I’ve finally mastered it 🎉
I have never manged a magic ring before thsi tutorial. Also I love that I can go back to different sectisn easily if I want to see a segment agan. I was able to follow this tutorial, thank you
I agree this tutorial is one of the best I've seen. I have knitted and crocheted for over 40 years (wow) and will definitely recommend your videos to the newbies coming into our groups. THANK YOU.
Thank you so much, that means alot to me. I really enjoy sharing these ideas and it can be tricky to make sure you are going the right pace so others can actually see what you are doing. So this means alot, thanks for taking the time to let me know, you made my day! Enjoy!
Thanks so much, not a singer, but I am a musician. I teach yoga too, and that requires a calm voice lol. So glad you like the videos, thanks for watching.
@@jspcreate Hello Jane, what a fun, i am musician too, i play classical guitar and the flute ... you can hear me here in youtube under -TalMusik - have a very very nice day.
Wow, I just went and listened, beautiful music! I am violin / fiddle and have done piano, clarinet, and various sax in my younger years. I am working on learning classical guitar these days. Keep up the great music, you have a new subscriber here too.
Hi!!! I'm new in this marvelous world of crochet 🎉🎉🎉🎉 i was searching tutorials for granny's square because soon will come autumn here in Argentina 🇦🇷 and i wanted to crochet a balaclava for my little dachshund arlequin i done one and I couldn't believe that i did it!!! But on Instagram appeared in pov a lovely dachshund with a balaclava with granny's square I come to TH-cam and there you are!!!! So easy to follow! But now i have two squares ready and i need 10,so I will read my instructions and i hope crochet more,I'll subscribe right now!! Cheers and thank youso so much!!!
OMG! Finally a magic tutorial that moved at a pace for a beginner with magic ring anxiety to get it! Thank you. Just discovered your channel and this is the second video. I was having the aweful time with the yarn that is used to pull the circle closed.
You’re a great teacher & I very much appreciate your tutorial on this zippy granny square. Thanks much for being so precise & not rushing thru this process. I look fwd to making this my next project🙏🌸💕
Thanks so much for your kind words. I am so glad that you enjoy the style of the tutorials. I find I am getting more relaxed now as I make them and just taking my time to explain. I am glad that is coming through. Thanks for watching. 😊💕
Thank you Jane, also fairly new to this wonderful world of crochet. I am partially sighted so I am thankful for the clear and relaxing tutorial. Many thanks❣️
You did a great job in this tutorial! Your speech pace was very good. I could pause and even go back when I needed to very easily. Some tutorials the speaker is going at such a fast pace it’s tough to manage the pauses. I like the tone and timbre of your voice. Plus the color scheme you chose is one I love! Thank you for a great video! 😊
I love the way you explain and have started making these squares, but I find I have lots of tails to hide. How do I handle this. Thank you so much for your tutorials easy to follow.
Thanks so much. I do have tutorials on how I work my ends in such as this one th-cam.com/video/8wlZQYiz-pc/w-d-xo.html but also my newer square tutorials I work my ends in as I go and show it on camera now.
I went back to find one with changing the colour in the first few rnds and this little series I work the ends in as I go and show you how th-cam.com/video/rshUSVCjG-s/w-d-xo.html
So glad you like this tutorial. I used a variety of brands in this, the green Bernat Super Value, the White is Bernat Premium and the Purple is Impeccable by Loops and Threads. Thanks for watching
Hi Jane, what a stunning Zippy Square, you are so talented and fantastic tutor, love all your tutorials and have crocheted your Mandala square in some of my tote bags as a centre piece and gifted those bags to my granddaughters and friends too, they absolutely love them, i shall definitely be crocheting this Zippy square too or might end up making a bag again 💕 Jane can i please know which yarn you are using in this tutorial, it’s so gorgeous, thank you for sharing 🙌👌❤️🙏🏻
Thanks so much, I am go glad you like it. The bags for your granddaughter sound like they would be beautiful! I used a variety of yarn here I think. The brands are white - Bernat Premium, green - Bernat Super Value and purple - Impeccable by Loops and Threads. I will have a full list with proper colour names for the entire blanket on my Colour Palette Page on my website
@@jspcreate thanks so much Jane, appreciate a lot for answering my question and yes my granddaughters love them a lot too , thank you for coming up with such beautiful and inspiring videos , you have a wonderful day 🤗💕🙏🏻
Brilliant tutorial, being left handed i managed to make the magic ring due to your great explanation and demonstration, and thoroughly understood the whole video.what brand of yarn are you using for these zippy squares as the colours are lovely? Thanks
That is awesome, so glad you found this tutorial worked for you. I do have the yarn for these squares listed over on the Join as You Go tutorial on my blog. I use a variety of brands. I think these were Bernat and Loops and Threads. I ended up using 14 colours for the blanket, the exact colours and brands are over on the blog. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for your question. Can you explain a little more what you are looking for. Do you mean how to combine stitches to create lacey textures, such as the V stitch for example? Tell me a little more and maybe I can come up with a tutorial along the line you are thinking of.
@@jspcreate Yes. Which stitches work well together, how to determine how many sts should be in a chain, whether to use a dc or trc, etc., and how to increase the rounds evenly so the square will have even edges and not ruffled edges.
Alot of it has been trial and error over the years, but I will put a tutorial on my to do list of basic designing, such stitch combos, increasing, decreasing and stitch height. Thank you for suggesting this. For now, I just suggest experimenting. I will make a few test samples using different stitch heights and numbers and lie them side by side. Then I take what works and combine that into a test swatch. I have buckets of failed test swatches lol.
You can continue working the last round and your stitch count will automatically increase. The only thing with this method is it can skew your square as it grows. The other option is to turn your work after each round from the last round on and it would prevent the skewing.
Next week's video on Wednesday will be the Join As You Go method with this square. In the mean time I also have a lacey join method video and the Daisy Square Throw joins this way. The Warm Hugs and Daisy Squares Series Part 2. Thanks for watching and hope next week's video will be what you are looking for.
You can block them, they are small enough I find they hold their shape nicely, so I did not, but I will be blocking them when I finish making a throw out of them. I usually block larger squares as they lose shape as they grow, but these little guys seem to hold up nicely.
