Larry Holmes and George Forman were the gentlemen of the greats of that era. I’ve never seen that kind of fast and snappy punches by a heavyweight and Larry’s pretty good to just kidding. He was definitely treated with disrespect by the media and the boxing association. But the proof is in the ring and he was one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time.

@@raysierra4194 Ali whipped himself into the best shape 215lbs against Foreman in 1974. Two years later he was already slurring his words and wasn't much for training. Ali was almost ko'd by Shavers in what should have been Foreman's title shot had he beat Jimmy Young. Sadly, Ali's best opportunity to beat Foreman again was at the end of 1975, who at that time was a complete basket case. Of course then we wouldn't have had the Thriller in Manila.

Holmes was a GREAT boxer. Although it took him long to KO his opponents, he actually did more damage. Look at Shavers and Lery Jones. Holmes did not hit them one time like Tyson, Holmes jab detached both of their retinas. I personally think Holmes style was worse than Tyson. Holmes would beat his opponents into submission.
The reach of Holmes is terrifying!, especially his jab, WoW! It's like a hammer.
@Twice is the Worst Girl Group That's right, their accuracy are second to none
He had the finest jab God it was like a pistol and Holmes didn't show off he was humble

he was better than you think

Thanks for posting! My favorite athlete's first title defense.
Larry’s handspeed is so underrated
I will give it to Larry, a young Larry Holmes fast as hell!

@ Exar
He fought just about everyone. I think some boxing experts were disappointed he didn’t fight either Greg Page or Gerrie Coetzee.
Ali's jab was much faster & stung like a wimp while Holmes' was more like a telephone pole coming straight to your face, many say it felt more like a left straight.
ali in the mid 60's would finish both Evan and Holmes.. Ali cooper 2 the speed and rips faces apart
Larry was the best mastered his crafted bad man🙏🔥🕵🤠💪
Looks good this Ernie Holmes.
ha was great in the A-Team, and in Wrestlemania.
Great acting at the end by Alfredo.
Alfredo.good acting like idiot
Kudos to Alfredo, fighting one of the BEST boxers ever.
I think Larry thought his opponent was going to be a lot tougher or else he probably wouldn’t have gotten into the great condition that he was in.
Thought Howard Cosell was being harsh to Evangelista here. He was trying but Larry was just way too big, too skilled and too good for him.
He thrashed him on commentary all the way through Ali's points win over him in 1977 as well!
He beat Ali.
That was a very sharp right hand
funny reading people trying to compare Ali and Larry vs Fredo .. Ali was 17 years into his career and had many wars..
Evangelista, to anyone with any ability... Was nothing more than a sparring partner.
Esta noche he estado con evangelista en su homenaje en granada en una velada y castillejo el lince de parla también ha venido

Evangelista never deserved two title bouts. Special thanks to Larry Holmes for tuning him up properly.
Why did he not? Correct me if I'm wrong, but, he paid his dues in order to be a contender twice. Just saying.
yes he did why he s there
Sports Illustrated called Evangelista "the Spaniard out of Uruguay en route to oblivion." Ouch!
Poor Evangelista. Just badly outclassed.
look who he fought he s dam good
I Think i'm only one noticing that Larry had trouble landing cleanly before the knock out.
Latty Holmes was SO unappreciated as a world heavyweight champion
I didn't believe it could be a kO.... But reall well done👍
