    Oh a give-a-way is always fun! I have moved and am starting my garden from scratch. I also retired so I will be able to spend more time learning and growing and am so excited! I am also so happy that I found you, I am in Maine zone 5a and a lot of what I see is warmer month growing so thank you. Have a happy, blessed day.

    Another great seed haul. Just remember that you can keep your seeds in a cool, dark, and dry place, and they should stay viable, so you don't have to plant them all this year. We want you to take it easy so you can have a healthy pregnancy. Also, for cool season annuals, the last frost date is less important. I think getting them outside earlier makes them stronger. I have already started my lisianthus, pansies, violas, iceland poppies, stock, and snapdragons. I grow the Quartet stock, which is branching and is growing under grow lights in the basement where it is cooler. I also noticed that my first anemones and ranunculus have sprouted that I soaked at the end of January. I soak my sweet pea seeds and direct seed them in early April. Happy gardening!

    • @TinysGarden
      @TinysGarden  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've heard good things about direct sowing Sweet Peas as well, which I've never tried! That would be a big time saver...I may have to experiment with that. You are on the ball with starting all those cool season annuals...you're right - I think there's a lot of wiggle room there with them on when to start them. Glad everything is looking great for you and that your anemones and ranunculus have sprouted!

    Seed giveaways are so fun. I've never won anything, but still get excited about the prospect. I have had my eye on 3 of 4 of the flowers you thinking of giving away, especially the Didiscus - love me a blue flower. Calendula is my good friend in the garden, despite the sticky stems, I really love the look.
    Gosh you have a lot of flower starting and transplanting and watering and fertilizing and pinching and cutting and weeding and arranging ahead of ya, I'm especially impressed considering you're also busy growing tiny humans. Good luck, excited to follow along, we're working with similar growing zones :)

    I haven’t decided what to do with my sweet peas yet! My seed packs recommend direct sowing, but yours always look SO good! I’m definitely direct sowing all my zinnias, the ones I did in trays ended up quickly being surpassed by ones I direct sowed! And no cosmos for me this year 🥲 Love them, but need dead heading too often for what I can manage.

    • @TinysGarden
      @TinysGarden  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Understandable on the Cosmos! You can go either way on the sweet peas, but yes, I've found a method I really like that produces healthy plants and is low maintenance! You know out of all years maybe this is the year I direct sow my Zinnias. I'm going to keep that in my back pocket since yours did so well. Thanks for sharing!

    I ordered spun sugar celosia and unicorn mix zinnias from Floret. I am a sucker for those color combinations. I admit, I’m rocking that PNW 8b privilege and already have stock, sweet peas, and ranunculus in the raised beds. I’ve got the row cover ready if I need it. Honestly, I’ve not had great luck with stock or sweet peas, but I think it’s because I always started them too late for my area. They are SUPER happy right now! I got worried when they got hailed on, but the next morning they were all “THIS IS LIFE! BRING IT!” - they were practically glowing green. This is my first year with ranunculus, fingers crossed!

    Thanks for another great video Steph! Laughing during my lunch hour watching!! Apricot Lemondade cosmos...not a fan. Grew them last year and they just looked torn or shabby. I can't think of the word. And they looked dirty..not a fan of the color! But cosmos are one of my favs!!! Got a bunch new ones. Circling back to a previous post, your snaps were done in the smallest soil block you replied to me. Were your roots just crazy all over the place? On the fence whether to use my tiny soil blocks (3/4"), the 2" blocks or use the 3/4" and "pot up" into the nesting 2". Ugh, why do overcomplicate everything?!?!

    • @TinysGarden
      @TinysGarden  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I never moved mine out of the 3/4 inch last year and they did great…I could see my roots, but they didn’t suffer. The thought of potting up makes me dreary because of time, so I never did it. I’ll stick with 3/4” this year. However, if you’re worried, you could go up to the next size, but I think the two inch blocker would be overkill. I’d take A LOT of soil too. Good luck! 😀

      Well, to be honest, our house came with a Palram one the previous owner bought at Costco and it works just fine for me. I know theres other types at Costco as well, but also higher end ones with glass that are beautiful. If you're just starting out, I'd look at some that are more affordable, but highly rated wherever you buy it.
