In this painting tutorial, I am showing how to paint light effects in a portrait painting in acrylic. I am using water as the only medium. No retarder is used for this painting process.
I have started this painting with a undertone of Scarlet Lake and Yellow Ochre to cover the initials sketches. I have applied many thin layers to achieve the desired effect of the skin tone. Most of the blending is done with dry brush technique with minimal water on the palette.

Most impressive acrylic technique, but the artist would've gotten more quality on canvas instead of what looks like Grumbacher watercolor paper-but still impressive!

I generally use airbrushes and oils to achieve my effect, but again, I am starting to appreciate the versatility of what Acrylic paints can do-Thank You! I will watch your works with great interest!

As artists, we evolve. going from one level to the next is always an important part of our journey as we perfect our techniques for maximum effect and efficiency. flesh tones are always a great challenge because human beings come in many colors, and that makes the artistic challenge more enlightening, but it still comes down to good practice! I started with chalk pastels way back when, and I dabbled with watercolor (there's a highly demanding medium!) and went into scratchboard art, inspired by the works of Tess Nelson, a master at this complex medium! but again, as artists, we find our way, and it always takes great effort, so I'll be watching more of your tutorials!

awesome job! curious to know if you soak and stretch the paper, similar to watercolour painting, and if you spray water on the paper before or as you paint.
Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏 I use my paper directly as it is. No previous soak amd stretch. But I frequently spray water mist on my palette. Nothing else.

Just starting art ,I've noticed do you damp your brushes all the while ,The paint seems very fluid, also is it better on paper, than on canvas which seems to make detailing hard to get right?
Yes. I do damp my brushes when required. But for smooth blending I use dry brush. Paper and Canvas has its own merits and demerits. Yes, Canvas holds color well and dries little slower. Thank you so much for watching 🙏😊

What U do when they dried up and unable to blend?
I spray water mist before it dries. You can try. It an effective way. Thank you.

Moi besikoi hard brush ei use koru. Soft brush okol suli akiboloi naiba ketiaba light blending koriboloi use koru. Tumi tumar mote use koribo para. Thank you 😊
