This is a simple method of painting a portrait in acrylic using glazing method. I am sowing how to paint a portrait of a Girl with special focus on blending and color mixing in Acrylic step by step. I have tried to paint this portrait with Realistic style with primary focus on monochrome undertone first. I am using only water mist to keep my paint moist in my palette. No retarder or any kind of medium is used in the entire process.

I don't understand how you are able to blend so well, when I use acrylics it's nothing like this and they dry too quickly. What is your secret??

Sir why we use first monochrome layer of ochre, burnt seina and white.?
It's always easier to study values with a monochrome underpainting. Sometimes it's difficult to study value using all range of colors. Later glazing makes it more easier to achieve the perfect skintone. My recent videos are all about glazing. You may like to see them too. Thank you so much for watching 😊🙏

Should I start glazing or using different layering after the previous layers are totally dry?
I usually use water mist spray on my palette to keep my paint moist. It works really well. It's better to wait for the underlayer to dry before applying glazing. Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏😊

How to avoid Overworking?
Most of the artist never satisfied with their works. Me too. I forced stop myself even though something left in my painting. But yes if it's a realism, you may not want to stop without satisfaction. But a speed or pace always work. Sometimes if we have enough time, we do overwork. For me it always happens 😊

Yes. I don't paint with oil anymore. I shifted to acrylic in 2008. Since then it becomes my favourite medium of all time. Now trying realism with this medium. Lots more to explore. Thank you so much for your appreciation 🙏😊
