In this portrait painting tutorial I am showing how to paint a Girl portrait in acrylic colors without using any retarder. I am using only water as a medium for the whole process of painting.
I have started this painting with a sketch followed by under painting with burnt sienna, yellow ochre and ultramarine blue. Then, I have applied many thin layers to achieve the desired effect of the skin tone and the effect of transparent cloths. Most of the blending is done with dry brush technique with minimal water on the palette.

First of all, thank you for enlarging the text size of the description of colors and brushes you use. Those teeny white letters were quite difficult to see! Secondly I wanted to say how much I enjoy your art, especially when you paint the eyes and hair, which really bring the subject to life. Thirdly, can you tell me how long you spend on a typical portrait from the sketch to finish? I have been painting portraits lately and one person takes me three or four DAYS. 😳 Definitely something is wrong. Could it be lack of practice? This is all new to me. My paintings look overworked, not exactly like the model, and tight. I appreciate your looser style which allows the brain to fill in all the details- much more appealing to look at. Thank you so much for your comment and watching my art 🙏 Acrylic dries on palette in 15 to 20 minutes no matter what the environment is. So, it's better to spray water mist on the palette just before that. I do the same and it stays moist as long as I want. Try it. It works just fine. Good luck 👍
