For those of you who don’t know what he’s talking about and don’t wanna watch the video, basically peter only came for ONE DAY to the studio when they were making the bumblebee movie. And then they had someone COPY his voice and had peter copy THAT GUY’S voice. The reason they won’t hire him for siege is because he’s with a union. Which means that he gets fair pay. Netflix doesn’t want to pay him fairly so they won’t hire him. That’s the gist of the whole thing.
reminds me of that movie Strange Brew, they couldn't afford what Mel Blanc cost, so they only had him in REALLY briefly to record a few lines. still effective. I think for fairness it's important to point out that fair pay is prohibitively expensive, and the practice of having a scratch track which you come record over later is always common in animation. that's no excuse for how netflix did it though.
The reason why Peter hasn't been Optimus in a while or in the Netflix series is because Peter is part of a union which makes sure that voice actors are paid right, and the people behind the Netflix series pretty much said sod off, this is probably the same for other TV shows. Really sad turn of events for our Prime.
That's a trend I've been noticing more and more as of late. Companies like Nintendo do this too, as with their dubbed games they only hire actors who aren't part of unions. The only exception to this was Kid Icarus Uprising, but then for their Smash Bros. appearances Vas who were in unions were replaced or had to renegotiate for the role. It seems more and more the people in the entertainment industry that don't have the power to fight back are being discarded so that the big wigs can get that $10,000 bonus check.

People skip the transformation because on rewatches, that's what you. A video has an introduction, product break down, transformation (shortest portion), closing statements and opinion.

Really just watch the link in the description for this video. Peter himself explains concisely why he doesn’t voice Prime that much anymore, and it’s really a damn shame.
The thing with replacing him is that his replacements try too hard to imitate Cullen, instead of trying to be their own version. That’s why I like David Kaye’s version of Optimus.

Not gonna lie, this figure looks amazing and as much as I want to save up and buy it, that transformation singlehandedly changed my opinion on the figure, both due to it's complexity (I.E. my Walnut Brain), and the sheer amount of parts that end up scraping together heavily during the process

Holy fuck, 8 months later and I’m still blown away by the fact that this is how optimus would realistically transform in the original cartoon, right down to his posture and form and everything, tucking the arms, head collapsing inward, making a weird ass pose with his chest and legs, i love it
Honestly there's something about your transformations that is just satisfying. Something about it is just soothing and relaxing (probably has something to do with that smooth jazz). I don't know if it as useful as the normal step by step walkthroughs that most people do, but what you do is different and i like it. Keep up the great work.

The makers of this are freaking God-Tier!!! The fact that they included a damn charger, extra batteries, and preinstalled batteries make me want to support them! Every company should have this kind of mentality to go above and beyond for the customer!
I highly highly recommend at least getting the 3A Optimus. It is absolutely amazing in person. The sculpting, the paint is just utterly amazing. This figure is really good but the 3A one is soooo much better. He is just utterly perfect. And I honestly didn’t care that he didn’t transform cause he was just that good

Mine just came in the mail today. I am sitting here in awe of how beautiful it looks in robot mode posed on its stand with all the lights on. I am actually hesitant to transform it. By the way, the movie sound clips the base plays sound much clearer than it did in this video. EDIT I transformed it. And I suffered through the entire process. The front right wheel assembly broke off at one point. The whole thing was pivoting on a single tiny screw and the threads of the screw hole stripped off. Had to fix that with a drop of superglue in the screw hole. And in the end I couldn't even fully transform it because the truck scalp would not sit flush meaning that the remainder of the cab transformation couldn't snap together. I think it could be a nub mark from the plastic molding getting in the way (had to file a couple off the base to allow two of the lights to pivot) but I can't see it. I do see that the right side of the hinge is rubbing against the frame to the point where it is chipping off the paint, but I don't know if I can fix that. That is the risk you take with 3rd party figures. They look great with complex engineering for hundreds of dollars cheaper than official figures of the same quality, but the quality control is often much worse and assembly is often rushed. You know how they say a good Transformer figure looks like it shouldn't transform? While this feels like you shouldn't be transforming it. It fights against you every step of the way making you constantly afraid that you are going to break it. Especially with the inexcusable lack of clearance for so many maneuvers, forcing you to bend and scrap parts against each other. Then when I finally got it back in Bot mode, something must be misaligned because those white bits keep popped out from behind the truck tits. My advise to anyone who is buying this figure: do not transform it. Enjoy having a gorgeous looking, super posable, gigantic, full of diecast metal, Bumblebee movie Optimus Prime with lots of cool accessories. The alt mode is not worth the trouble.
it's not that peter cullen doesn't want to do the voice that much anymore it's netflix not wanting to unionize and pay for actual voice actors. they didn't want to support people like peter cullen. he's still very much loves doing the voice and character of which he based off his dead brother who was a war veteran. so he's not giving up and won't give up anytime soon. he's just disappointed is all.
Everything about the figure is great. All the accessories, the stand, and the figure is great. What I find an issue tho is that at this point Jobby shouldn't have the Godzilla kiss scale if he's just gonna be reviewing good figures. I can understand the whole ad revenue thing and how any of his videos that aren't related to transformers don't get much view rates, and he's either being sponsored by some online store company, but still at least review figures from fans such as low line figures from Hasbro or just any other thing that isn't transformers for a while. Then there'd be a reason for old viewers to come back and also a reason for the Godzilla kiss scale.

I think some spray sealants(specifially art ones) can prevent paint chipping. Might make joints a bit stiff but not too much

I highly highly recommend at least getting the 3A Optimus. It is absolutely amazing in person. The sculpting, the paint is just utterly amazing. This figure is really good but the 3A one is soooo much better. He is just utterly perfect. And I honestly didn’t care that he didn’t transform cause he was just that good

Mine just came in the mail today. I am sitting here in awe of how beautiful it looks in robot mode posed on its stand with all the lights on. I am actually hesitant to transform it. By the way, the movie sound clips the base plays sound much clearer than it did in this video.

I transformed it. And I suffered through the entire process. The front right wheel assembly broke off at one point. The whole thing was pivoting on a single tiny screw and the threads of the screw hole stripped off. Had to fix that with a drop of superglue in the screw hole. And in the end I couldn't even fully transform it because the truck scalp would not sit flush meaning that the remainder of the cab transformation couldn't snap together. I think it could be a nub mark from the plastic molding getting in the way (had to file a couple off the base to allow two of the lights to pivot) but I can't see it. I do see that the right side of the hinge is rubbing against the frame to the point where it is chipping off the paint, but I don't know if I can fix that. That is the risk you take with 3rd party figures. They look great with complex engineering for hundreds of dollars cheaper than official figures of the same quality, but the quality control is often much worse and assembly is often rushed. You know how they say a good Transformer figure looks like it shouldn't transform? While this feels like you shouldn't be transforming it. It fights against you every step of the way making you constantly afraid that you are going to break it. Especially with the inexcusable lack of clearance for so many maneuvers, forcing you to bend and scrap parts against each other. Then when I finally got it back in Bot mode, something must be misaligned because those white bits keep popped out from behind the truck tits.
My advise to anyone who is buying this figure: do not transform it. Enjoy having a gorgeous looking, super posable, gigantic, full of diecast metal, Bumblebee movie Optimus Prime with lots of cool accessories. The alt mode is not worth the trouble.
First time I've ever seen a near-perfect backside of a robot mode transformer and jobby *not* acknowledge it. What world do we live in?!

it's not that peter cullen doesn't want to do the voice that much anymore it's netflix not wanting to unionize and pay for actual voice actors. they didn't want to support people like peter cullen. he's still very much loves doing the voice and character of which he based off his dead brother who was a war veteran. so he's not giving up and won't give up anytime soon. he's just disappointed is all.
Peter Cullen should take a break from the character after what Netflix and Hollywood did... assholes

Everything about the figure is great. All the accessories, the stand, and the figure is great. What I find an issue tho is that at this point Jobby shouldn't have the Godzilla kiss scale if he's just gonna be reviewing good figures. I can understand the whole ad revenue thing and how any of his videos that aren't related to transformers don't get much view rates, and he's either being sponsored by some online store company, but still at least review figures from fans such as low line figures from Hasbro or just any other thing that isn't transformers for a while. Then there'd be a reason for old viewers to come back and also a reason for the Godzilla kiss scale.
