- This Galvatron design SUCKS...but...Here's my review of the Unique Toys R-04 NERO, a third party version of Galvatron from Transformers Age of Extinction. Unique Toys has proven to be one of the best third party companies I've taken a look at. Does this Transformers AoE Galvatron continue that hot streak?...the design still sucks

That's s really specific name for a channel
even though I'm not middle aged, I need that nero customization, the problems jobby had with his is also on mine
I personally think that critiques claiming Unique Toys figures just flip the robot mode inside out to transform is a really weak argument against the designs. Describing the transformations like this is a huge understatement. What makes UT figures so impressive is that the vehicle modes aren't just inverted, its that their "chunks," as Jobby describes, are engineered to rearrange themselves into humanoid shapes, no matter how non-humanoid they look. For example, Peru Kill uses the opposite sides of his Lambo mode's front and rear to make the robot chest portude outward, and the back curve like a spine would. If the figure just inverted, it'd be weirdly flat like the FT Stunticons are. It understates the amount of spatial awareness and geometric skill needed to structure a figure like this.
That critique works if they do movie 1-3 figures since kibble has to go where they belong, I'm getting the ut m3 megs but in terms of movie accurate engineering aat nailed it with how the back of the truck becomes his feet rather than the front (which ut does seeing from the sample image panel lines), they are the best at inverting which is why movie 4-5 are their best designs imo
@@sirhellsing Imho AAT is not too accurate. He looks rather scrawny and too simplified...
@@outrundoubtrun-lemonadeart682 True, after looking at his arms
Honestly, that critique feels like grasping at straws. You're literally getting the most accurate and good looking of both modes. The only really good critique would be the instructions being crap.
are there really people complaining about UT? do they just love the horrible monstrosities of alien attack and the like? The world really confuses and angers me sometimes
The design may not work for Galvatron, but is kinda neat as it's own thing. It doesn't feel like a Transformer due to zero car parts, which goes against the design philisophy of the first 3 films. The fact that Unique Toys got this to work so well is a God damn miracle. Hoping the eventual Studio Series figure turns out good too
I'm glad that UT is still making more figures in the future.
Well to be fair this movie had a different breed of transformers. Considering there was one that transformed from a toy Rainbow Dash into an automatic rifle you can kinda get why there was no car parts on the robot modes for the vehicons.
The Autobots though I absolutely agree with. The only one with an excuse was Bumblebee who redesigned his robot mode to look like Stinger out of jealousy.
@@nmr7203 Well the choice was for a narrative standpoint. The transformium transformation make it clear to the audience that the manmade transformers are unnatural. Especially with how the characters react to seeing how they transform.
@gensokyo boyz I feel like it was a good concept with bad execution, having a transformer that can basically disintegrate and reform is interesting and can lead to awesome fight scenes, my main problem is it's just not believable that humans were the ones who made it. Oddly enough would've made more sense if it was from Unicron's upgrade, you know like from the actual source material
@gensokyo boyz Sure I guess, but dumb concepts are kind of what this franchise is about. It's dumb, but also cool.
I think the thing that makes UT so impressive as a company is that they take the designs from AOE and TLK, which are some of the most BS and hardest designs to make toys of because of their lack of kibble, and make them somewhat cohesive.
Yeah. Their work is beyond hasbro masterpiece
I'm telling you man black magic is real
It's not necessarily a lack of kibble, but a lack of incorporating vehicle parts into the robot designs - not necessarily the same thing. A well-incorporated part _isn't_ kibble, as far as I'm aware, but a part that just hangs off for no discernible reason is.
@@syweb2 Yea I'm aware, that's just what I call it for simplicity sake
@@syweb2 only vehicle part i could see in him lol is the truck headlights on the sides of his chest
There's just something special watching Jobby transforming the most complex, masochistic figures. It's detailed, straight to the point, and clear. Not overly long like many tutorials, but lucid enough for anyone to follow along and enjoy. It's almost like an art form in itself.
Agreed verily!
And the music never gets old!
11:26 for those of you who don’t know what this is referring to, ship of Theseus is the theory that says, if you replace all the planks on a boat with a new one, is it the same boat. (if I messed this up feel free to correct me)
a bit clumsily phrased, but basically dead on. Another example being 'grandpa's axe'
It's also referred in Wanda Vision Marcel series about the two visions as the two ships of Theseus
And what if you completely replace that ship with planks and call it the same ship and then take all the replaced planks of that first ship and then build another ship with those parts then which is the original ship now that you have two ships
It is, because with how you worded it, only the planks got replaced, not the structure.
Was it worth it too see a god awful design but a masterpiece of a figure finally have a review from jobby…….YES
His design looks sick imo
@@kingslayerx1716 eh for me I don’t like it I prefer the original obviously but the figure is beautiful

@@SalaD__FrienD exactly!
@@SalaD__FrienD agreed
I am genuinely impressed that they were able to make a transformation for a character who did not have an actual physical transformation in the film that he was in.
IMO, that makes it easier. It leaves the designers completely free to make the transformation whatever it needs to be without worrying about how parts moves and where they go in the movie.
@@rodimussupreme2329 Most of the time I would agree, but this character's design is so cluttered and messy, I'm amazed they were able to pull anything out of it for a transformation.
@@rodimussupreme2329 Nobody sensible actually cares if the transformation is movie accurate, as long as it works
@Breakaway-ic5gj
no, but it's about having certain parts in certain locations. Bumblebee's chest has to be the front of the car, front doors on the back of it, etc. etc.
I personally dont mind them using fake parts if they can make it work but it's a great layer of authenticity when it's real.
Jobby is one of the many toy review youtubers that is entertaining and funny when it comes to transformer figures
IKR. He only take around 15 minutes for a review. Other reviewers talk too much and make 30 minutes video. Also the transforming part is so satisfying.

Galvatron really should have just been motormaster and the other transformium drones should have been stunticons.

Kreo the Lego sets have minimal parts forming
COME ON BAY GET THE DESIGNS RIGHT
this aint a fucking connectbots (whatever the fuck they’re called) review (ik its a joke)
I agree
I feel like this figure is the perfect example of why inside out engineering is both mechanically impressive and sometimes necessary. Don't get me wrong, I love Transformers animated and the way that they designed both modes to use interesting shapes and contours that make the vehicle look cohesive and slick and the robot look stylized and humanoid with virtually no panels. That being said, a lot of transformers designs have details that aren't present in both modes, especially when the robot has distinct character notes and the vehicle is detailed and based on a real world design. In those cases you can either try to hide those out of place details under panels and shells that you then have to fold up and try to hide in robot mode, or you can use the empty, underutilized space on the opposite side of the panel. And its not like its a cheap solution, as something like AoE or tLK have such smooth, rounded armor, you can hardly call them panels any more, and you have to fit these pieces together on the inside of the vehicle so they don't bang into each other. It takes some clever engineering to make something so dense, properly scaled and detailed, and fully posable.
Shame its a design I really don't care about...

Unpopular Opinion: I actually LOVE this Galvatron. I miss the purple, but I think the in-movie story behind him makes him cool, and Frank Welker back in the role was awesome.
Yea I wish they didn’t juggle between him and Lockdown and him as antagonists
I wish AOE focused on Galvatron and they kept Lockdown for Last Knight as Quintessas enforcer
I agree
I agree, i think it's the sexiest design so far. Shame about the figure needing so much fixing though
If the design had purple instead of blue accents, had the hole in the midriff instead of the chest, and had a three-pronged helmet (which also could have better convinced the audience it was supposed to look like Optimus), I think it would have had something cool going for it, but those little missteps break the look for me.
I wonder how he’d look In g1 colours…
I love Jobby's humor, I love this figure, and better yet, I love that this figure can transform. The figure even comes with Agent Smith!
I was waiting for that joke
Smith has hair. This is more like Rude from FF7.
Agent 47
More like Agent K from MiB
How can people criticize this figure for an inside out transformation but praise evasion mode Optimus for doing the exact same thing?
Really would love to see Jobby continue his transformers movie marathon.

Just wait the next devil savior figure. We will see him pain
I didn't know that people were actually complaining about the "inside-out" engineering with UT figures. Like if it's such a cop out, then why the hell didn't Hasbro think of it years ago?.
At this point people will complain about literally any method being cheap or lazy, it's really annoying and nitpicky. Oh a figure of a character that has an impossible method of getting a robot mode that looks nothing like the vehicle mode? Inside out engineering, lazy. Oh a character uses a part of the alt mode that doesn't look at all like how it does in the alt mode and they use a fake part? Foux part engineering, lazy. It's like God, who the hell cares, as long as the transformation is fun and intuitive, it doesn't matter how they get there.
Supposedly within the film, since megatron was the one creating his new body he made that hole in his chest specifically to deal with optimus prime's energon swords. It makes sense but I wouldve preferred a different method to destroy them tbh
Well Prime would already be stabbing his swords in that general area.
Also yeah it looks badass.
Can't Prime just stab him slightly to the left or right though?
@@maxmocs5008 Well if you'll watch the scene you'll see Galvatron grabbing his sword and guiding it into the hole.
@@NexusProductions-rz1sv there's a joke in there somewhere

though the absolute best part is when Jorby's pent-up 5 years lead him to slipping in "in-and-out"
Thankfully this isn't actually their last figure they're doing Dark of the Moon Megatron and it looks absolutely insane
As time goes on I’m starting to think “Peru kill review in 2050” wasn’t a joke
I've never heard of the "inside out" transformation or whatever. Like, who cares? They absolutely nail each figure they've put out. I agree with jobby that UT puts out some of the best figures out there.
When you realize the people who made this toy made a bigger effort to have it transform than fucking INDUSTRIAL LIGHT AND MAGIC did for the movie.
Fun fact, this design was originally intended to be motormaster but last minute they changed the villian to be Galvatron because they thought a note recognized name would be better. Explains why he has a semi truck alt mode and why combiner wars menasor's inner chest detail looks so reminiscent of AOE Galvatron's
Awesome!👍
This theory is unsubstanciated. Fans thought Menasaur would appear due to the vehicles for the Decepticons when pictures from filming were put online.
@@NexusProductions-rz1sv how else do you explain the carry over into combiner wars then? The bay crew are well known for throwing whatever name that sticks on a design. Plus I remember reading articles in 2013 saying menasor was announced as the villian. The films aren't really known for their care for continuity or production value when it comes to writing, so its very likely that this design was supposed to be motor master but just thrown to be Galvatron. I admit saying "fun fact" was poor wording but let's be real, it was probably gonna be motormaster
@@JayBenVA37 You mean the reference in Menasaur's chest that's covered up by blackjack? I think it's really just a reference. None of the stunticons were based on the vehicles in the film anyways. Maybe it was a nod to how the fans though it was Motormaster, but the rumour is unsubstanciated.
Was looking for this comment, good that i'm not the only one who knows it.
I mean, he uses the chest cavity to shred Optimus' sword, forcing Optimus to get a new one, so that definitely wasn't a part of the design that was useless
I feel like it's a mix of both problems because unique toy have been the only and most consistent 3rd party to meet alot of jobbythehong standards

Y'know what I just realized about Unique Toys' movie figures? (At least with Challenger and Dragoon)
The transformations of those figures seemed to be upscaled, more complex, and *refined* updates to their Last Knight voyager counterparts.
Either that, or I'm going crazy :P
Eh, I don’t really see that aside from inevitable similarities stemming from how the toys turn into the same robots and vehicles.
Dragoon has some similarities, and I think it was loosely intentional because the Hasbro voyager figure handled the wings pretty well, so it's logical UT wanted to start from there, and overhaul the engineering. The similarities between Challenger and TF5 Voyager Prime are very general. Some truck parts become the same body parts, but I think that's more coincidental because Challenger manages it's mass completely differently.
