"Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages" is a very important ielts writing task 2 question. In this video, I explain what "outweigh" actually means and share a band-9 essay structure you can use to answer any "outweigh" question.
Here's the essay question used in this video:
It is important for people to take risks, both in their professional lives and their personal lives. Do you think the advantages of taking risks outweigh the disadvantages?

The thing is that I just hoped I could get 6.5 in Writing. When I saw the result I was completely shocked. U remember my comment a few days before my test date? I found your channel quite late but I watched all of your videos and some of your sample essays. U are surely a lifesaver for me, truly! My weakness had always been writing, I cannot believe it’s the skill that enhances my overall score now😂
I was distracted during the listening and reading test… could have been better, but the writing part is a big deal for me.

like in this essay u go with "Aggrement" but u write about it in BODY PARAGRAPH 2.....and u show disagreement in BP 1 .....so my question is can't we do it VICE-VERSA.
I mean should be justify ur opinion in BP 1 first rather than discussing disagreement first.....

how did it went?
in the essay of foreign language done from primary school rather in secondary school that is adv outweighs dis adv .The adv I supported is learning foreign language facilities opportunities or desires in foreign countries and also decreases language barrier and u stated regarding pronunciation and grammar can I proceed the statement what I stated in my essay

Hi Lilie, first of all thank you so much for this amazing video. Everything is well explained. However, i have one question that i can’t understand. In the essay, examiner is asking if advantage(s) outweigh disadvantage(s). Should we not write more than one advantage and disadvantage because they are asking in plural terms

So, what should I organize the paragraphs like below?

P6 - Conclusion

Hi Lillie, I have been following your videos religiously and I have learnt a lot. I have a question and I hope you get to see it in time, because my test is next week. how do you know if you have achieved minimum word count on paper based test?
I bought some answer sheets online. I practiced writing essays on those sheets. Based on the size of my handwriting, I know that writing up to a certain row on the answer sheet is usually enough to meet the word count. However, during exams, I still count the number of words, just in case.

Do you mean the first sentence in the introductory paragraph? You don't have to paraphrase the original like I did. You can make up something else.
Yes.. I mean a sort of sentence that'd just introduce the whole essay before re-wording the question of the essay.

Hi, I've never written five paragraphs in an actual exam so I don't know whether it works or not.
I scored a 7 twice on actual exams but all essays on my website deserve higher than a 7, probably an 8, because they were improved by native speakers.
Yes, for the questions you listed, four paragraphs are enough. I got agree-or-disagree and discuss-both-views on the exams, wrote four paragraphs, and got a 7.
It is so sad, I had an ielts exam, the writing test question is about advantages outweigh disadvantages, I just gave my own opinions about its advantages in body 1 and 2, although I had mentioned about more advantages than disadvantages in introduction and conclusion, is it okay??

Mam you are many time use same word in this essay like "opportunities ". And how band score I can get with this task 2 answer?
Hi, sometimes it's good to repeat significant words. It creates a sense of coherence. Readers know you're discussing the same idea. For instance, I could say Chan wouldn't have been able to study at Harvard. But this does not show the opportunity that risks created for Chan. I think the essay can score at least a 7.5.
But you're right. It's probably better to change one of the "opportunity"s to "chance".

Lilie mam, I have one doubt, people nowadays tend to have children at older ages what do you think are the reasons for this ? Do the advantages of this outweigh disadvantages ? Mam in this essay how many body paragraph I should write ? If I go for advantages.... Means body paragraph 1 for reasons, 2 and 3 body paragraph for (advantages) and 4 body paragraph for disadvantages...?
Hi, I suggest not wasting time on inauthentic questions. There are no such questions in Cambridge IELTS books or on real tests.
