Childhood Ambition: Let's Play a Super Sim Part 2 Gameplay (The Sims 4 Lets Play)

  • In Part 2 of my Super Sim Let's Play for The Sims 4, I begin to tackle the various childhood goals I've set. I want to complete all childhood aspirations, learn skills, and improve both my Sim parent and her child's life. He needs to make friends and gradually unlock adult skills that are accessible to children.
    The family gets a house upgrade, a new garden, and comfy beds. Overall in this part, I work on the childhood stage of the Sims 4 and attempt to maximize the children's skills in order to unlock all the stages of the childhood aspirations. My Super Sim meets a couple new friends and mom learns the gourmet cooking skill in order to one day give them better moods. I plant a garden of fruits that will be available all year round, so my Sims have access to quality produce. Sims can eat this right out of their inventory to get a mood and hunger boost.

    A couple of tips (unfortunately I always feel compelled to max out every child skill):
    -If you use 'read to toddler' while a toddler, it counts toward the mental aspiration goal (of reading with an adult), so that will be automatically complete when you age to child
    -For 'finish homework while focused', the most time-efficient way is to just have parent help with homework, which tends to force their mood to focused as well as complete faster
    -For 'have a BFF', the fastest way by far is to be BFF with their parent, which they probably have the relationship with by the time they are child anyway
    -To make friends for the social butterfly goal, the most exploitatively fast way I have found with children is to 'build sandcastle together', but only if you click it on the sim in question, not on the ground, and only in places that allow it, such as Sulani. One single 'build sandcastle' should be enough to jump most sims right up to friends. Requires a little bit of relationship before the interaction becomes available, but makes about 20% of the relationship bar in one go.
    -Also, if you want the mother to be inspired for moneymaking, you could take a quick 'vacation' to Sulani and pick up some shells ('beachcomb for shells') to put next to the flower arranging table, since they give inspired.
    -IMPORTANT tip if you want to get Scouting Aptitude: pick it up as soon as you can, as normal interactions you have during they day will generally start ticking off the badges, such as putting plates away or talking to people. If you wait, you will have to go out of your way to do those interactions, instead of just doing the ones that did not complete on their own.
    Small side tip also regarding your last video: The best trait I discovered for toddler is in fact Wild, because they becoming energized, either spontaneously or through activities they just choose to do (e.g. running around in nappies). By being energized, their energy decays slower, so they spend more time awake and seem to learn more as a result, at least in my experience (just raised twins, one Wild and the other Angelic, and the Wild one just owned the other one in skill learning since they were up and awake more).
    Side note: the reason that I used to to mental first (and basically still do) USED to be that once you maxed mental, you would start getting Video Gaming, so if you do Motor second (and play the typing game), you'd gain a bunch of Video Gaming skill. The problem is that there seems to be a glitch now that causes video gaming to reset once you max Motor(?), so it is kind of beside the point. However, it is still a good idea to do mental first because there are some situations where you can run out of time to do the 'homework while focused', such as if you left it til your last 4 days, only to discover it is a holiday and you can't get more homework before you age up.
    I frequently max out multiple kids at once using these and various other tricks, on normal lifespan. Usually I have several days left to also max out charisma, musical skills, or various others.

      Also using clubs really helps improve all speeds but especially making friends, if you have island living you can paint sand on the ground anywhere and build sandcastles there, and every time your child does something that earns them positive character traits the parents can go into the parenting section of their options and discipline their child by encouraging them if you pause the game you can do it 6 times in a row it really increases parenting skill and the child’s traits

      I also have a tendency to complete all aspirations or at least two for kids .. haha. And I make friends exploiting the "take photo with..." Oddity that leads to basically instant friendship, and build up social while playing chess etc., usually I don't even think about skill building anymore, since they are often also scouts and completing the badges does a lot.

    Another child tip - wind down with classical for fun to build up emotional control. Use the doll or teddy to build empathy whilst learning the mental skill

  • @organicstorm
    @organicstorm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +76

    Carl, emotional control is gained by writing in diaries and plating with toys, which are also interaction opportunities towards the "discipline your child" goal for the mom, since she can praise him for doing these (which also increases the emotional control meter for him) .. it is rather useful when he gets bad moodlets from school or phases. For teenagers "jog to clear mind" helps the most with emotional control and also gets fitness level up. For empathy get him the medical toy set with the bear or baby, if you don't want to send them volunteering. That also increases mental skill.

      Listening to Classical to wind down helps with emotional control and bad moods too, and can be done as teens or children. I don't know if it actually counts to the character trait if they are in a good mood, but you can still to an encourage discipline to build the trait up. I usually try to have them do their homework near a radio where they can do the wind down option at the same time as doing their homework. This then gives me 2 quick things I can encourage (3 if the student also has good grades and the window hasn't closed for that yet).

    • @organicstorm
      @organicstorm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't see how that's faster.. you can just let the kids build up social while working on the other skills. It barely slows down progress and saying hello to Sims also gives reward points from the social aspiration .. which is very easy to accomplish and helps buy an even better reward trait (I play with seasons so I usually get them the storm chaser first, then the others that help towards skill gaining etc)

    • @LadyYepperz

    Great series Carl! Don't forget, you're leaving a lot on the table by not 'encouraging or disciplining behavior' under the parenting menu. Every time he cleans up or does something the mother can encourage or discipline him to help in those emotional skills. Also writing in the diary/journal, winding down to classical music, the doctor set and the large toy bear are all things that can help as well. Also when he does his homework the mother should be encouraging that behavior as well, the same with working on school projects which give a boost to his school skills. Even brushing his teeth can be praised by the mother to gain his responsibility. Honestly, the quickest way I have found to raise these skills is to make sure the mother is constantly encouraging the right behaviors. Also, when he becomes a teenager if he's going through a rough time with angry moodlets and mood swings there will be an option in the parenting menu for the mother to offer to help him control whatever emotion he's going through and that will also increase his emotional control skills.

    I recently started a Super Sims lets play, and I made it a micro home so it boosts skill gain as well as boosting plat growth, free daisies and bluebells for early flower arranging! Also I built it in Oasis springs, as the ground counts as sand and the kid can play in the sand and find shells, even as a toddler!
    It took just 5 days to max out the toddler skills, and the mother is already parenting 6.
    When it comes to the 'diciplining' goal in the mother's parenting aspiration 'Praise recent behaviour' also counts!

    Go to the magic realm with the mom and go to the potion shop and buy dragon fruit, a couple of rows of that and you will be set on money without having to do much. Also, getting patchy would help too. If you make a greenhouse you can have any plant year round by the way. Of course you have to use flower pots or planters, but those also save room, just make sure you can get to both sides of the planter if you go with the planters. Just have fun with it, that is the number 1 tip lol.
    What do you think they will do for the 20th anniversary of the Sims franchise?

  • @pamelac.nation5437
    @pamelac.nation5437 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've found that if you pick the social aspiration right when they age to child and then talk to a family member, it will count that as making a friend since it was the first time you talked to them as a child. Similar, if you play rotationally, if you make two kids in separate households become friends, when you switch to the other household, make sure you have it on the social aspiration before you talk to your friend for the first time while playing the second family, and the second child will also get credit. Final making friends tip, if the child has younger toddler siblings, chain it to social before you age up the toddler (if the two are already friends) and queue up any social, and it will count as the child making a child friend.

    I don't think it's best to become famous until after finishing the public enemy aspiration and criminal career (I like to do them first). Better to have a terrible reputation as a nobody then build it up to pristine by later doing Friend of the world aspiration etc. No reason to have a great reuputation then have to ruin it then build it back up again. Plus, hated celebs got it rough.

    surprised your not using the mood lights from owning the sims 3 collection since you wrote guides on the sims 3 (the plumbob ones) i assumed you would have them, they help with controlling moods in specific rooms like an inspired creativity room and aren't TO cheaty since they are basically base game if you owned sims 3 collection before it tho i hate relying heavily on the mood system myself

    to raise responsibility really quickly, have your child work on school projects that you buy in the children's activities section of buy mode. for empathy, have them play with the doctor set over and over. 'wind down to classical music' with a stereo to raise emotional control. set the table for manners (not sure how to raise it really quickly but that's a good one). Conflict resolution is a tricky one and you mostly need parental involvement for maxing it out.
    I always do the creative aspiration first because it is SO easy, and you can gain creativity so many different ways. then I do motor, mental, and social butterfly. Motor skill is easiest to accomplish by typing, Social by talking to people using the interactions with the little mouth on them (raises the percentage by 20-30 each time), mental i just use the chess table, and creative i usually have them play the piano or children's violin. it obviously helps if you have a nanny or a parent who can mentor because their skills go up much faster.

    One thing Flower Arranging has over Painting, you can sell arrangements in a yard sale and get 3 times their worth easily/quickly without the hassle and time of owning a retail store. You should be able to do this with paintings but that object is bugged in my game.

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The only thing to remember is that the flower arrangements will wilt if you don't sell them quickly at the yard sale or put the permanent buff on them. I forgot about that and lost some excellent orchid arrangements because I got sidetracked and thought the yard sale table would preserve them (it keeps food fresh but not flowers! lol)

    • @ABCScandalFanatic
      @ABCScandalFanatic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      J. Stanley Yeah, you have to scent them with the flower that makes it so they never spoil. If you don’t have them the magic spell to increase quality brings dead plants and spoiled food back - it could work (?) I’ve never tested it tho.

  • @sile1727
    @sile1727 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The fastest ways to level kid's skills is through the social menu. At Motor level 3 kids get "ask for typing tips" (or anything with the motor icon next to it), get child in an energized mood and spam the social when game is paused. At Mental level 5 there is "talk about fractions" (or anything with the brain icon), get child in focused mood and spam the social again while game is paused. At Creative level 4 there is "tell make believe story"(or anything with the light bulb icon), and you do the same thing as others while child is inspired. The level boost for social accompanies all the others. So, while you are spamming "talk about fractions" or "ask for typing tips" you are also gaining social skill. That aside, the social skill has its own interactions like "talk about school" (or anything with the speech bubble & mouth icon), that boost social solo and confident mood is ideal.
