- The Sims 4 Island Living included an undocumented trait that Sims can receive for befriending Elementals. Here's my run through getting it, with lots of commentary on the trait, its powers, and gameplay in general.

I love how instantly forgot he had put a salad there to see if it would catch on fire.
Makoah is the Eliza Pancakes of Sulani. He comes and just stands at my door all the time. He got stuck at my hut and wouldn't leave for 3 days.
ugh, and he always wears that snorkel when not snorkeling. I was playing with the SOL mod, and one of my mermaids did a "risky hookup in bed" with him on their own at his house while his wife was doing something else.

I always love your mini playthroughs especially when they include unusual tips like the hidden traits and the special way to get ghosts to move in. Are the ghost moving in options a new feature?
You've always been able to ask a ghost to join your household but being able to ask them to move in is new, this used to be only for sims that were not ghosts. tbh, it seems like an over sight and I wouldn't be surprised if the devs changed this back but that's just my guess.

just a tip for sims romance, i reccomend you start off with the "compliment appearance" interaction in the romance menu cause it works nearly every time, its pretty realistic, and it still starts up the romance bar
Hmmmm....Now that's an interesting idea for a story. Island God turns mortal and impregnates another mortal. I like it. Didn't know there was an option in Sim Creator to "impregnate others". Good to know.

Now to the REAL question... Can we breed a Spirit of Sulani with Santa Claus to get both of those extra traits? Hohoho will summon meteor showers~ guess coal got overrated.

Yes, you can. This also works with the new Bloodline Traits from Realm of Magic. So If you plan your gameplay carefully, you can obtain the 3 inherited Traits

@@K-MasterGirl I don't think you can pass down Father Winter's Baby, but with Sulani Mana it definitively works, I tried it. Magic bloodlines also work (obviously, as they even get stronger when passed down).

My favourite moment:
The anticipation I felt watching her touching the meteor over and over.
The glee when she finally caught alight.
The laughter when random curly haired men stepped into frame and saved her.

The animation is the same as the summon lightning one in season. They recycle every animation
Agree, there are a huge number of animations that are reused throughout all the packs. The more the devs do this the more glaringly obvious it is becoming. Like the beach combing animation, it's basically the Laundry Day animation when searching for money in a pile of dirty clothing that has been dropped on the floor. Wouldn't mind so much if there was a huge amount of in-depth game play...

and? nothing wrong with this, all games recycle animation and assets. It takes time and data for each new animation, the sims is a huge game between all the assets, textures, free building, text prompts.
In fact between all the packs and free updates, think this is the largest "the sims" game data/asset wise cuz of all the stuff. Not counting how customize-able the sims really are.
Some game companies make the mistake of being too detail, or having too much new, take example of ff14 1.0 the failed final fantasy MMO a big reason it failed was high rez flower pots that had the same amount of polygons/shaders as a player character. They were super detailed, and all over the place. This slowed the game down to a crawl and it was hard to get a consistent fps when in zones with said flower pots.
Not to mention full mocap movement which cost the game a fortune only for it to cause problem in combat, sure we had fluid realistic running, walking, combat animation but came at the cost for slower server pings. so it would almost always rubber band, or cause our characters to eat attacks simple because moving ad stopping too a few moments to play out.
This not something i wanna see in sims 4 or any sim game, too many new animations can/will big the game down, not to mention cost money to do. Which could be better spent on other stuff, like more sims customization, sim types, or features.
I am actually fine with it! Just think about a different animation

as a long time reader of your guides, and newly watching your vid I'm liking this style of video, its funny yet informative while giving your opinion. Its not long winded and doesn't have jarring jump cuts. It shows long long it takes to get it done, making it realistic as other ppl either just stick to streaming and reposting on yt with a hyper sped up, or don't seem to know how to fully utilize the bonus trait or info. Or come off long winded to the point were the info gets lost.
When i got back into the sims with sims 3, I've ALWAYS went to your guides, they were very well formatted, clear to read, and straight to the point. I'm happy you have a YT channel, and got some great info on sims 4, which i recently got on ps4. I had the pc version but the pc i have is a potato, and couldn't run it.
So again keep up the good work, I'm enjoying these videos so far.
Why the heck are their seperate Ask to Move In and Invite to Household options anyway?
I usually get two males and a female. It's so funny that you had three females. I have a save with that same house and I had to expand the front entrance because they kept getting stuck like yours did. I agree that certain things are given to us that should require more effort. Gameplay is something I think most of us feel is lacking in TS4. I still enjoy it though. Thanks for the video! I had no idea this was even a thing.
Since this is a reupload, I say it again.
I gave some of my sims this trait manually and wasn't able to summon elementals. They simply didn't show up. Then I removed this trait from them and elementals did show up. This makes me think that we can have only a certain amount of sims in the game with this trait.

THe whole expansion has been buggy and strange. I keep having strangers go into my houses without being invited despite it being set to residental and private dwelling.and act like they live there..drives me nuts. My sims teleport places rather than walk :/ Its all gone crazy.
Just like the island pack for ts3 then; really buggy. That is why I was not excited for this.
Yeahhhh, then they start paintng on your easel out of nowhere and you cant even remove the painting or delete the easel because "it doesnt belong to you" and youre just stuck there with a painting that you cant remove from your lot or from your inventory... they also use the computer a lot...

Hey thanks for weighing in. You and a few others who've been around a long time have said this here and it is motivation to learn. I imagine each one will be a little better and the idea of hybrids has occurred to me. Normal essay format with some live play demonstrations to give the best of both. I think it could help a lot for explaining things.

@@loupblanc7944 trans people who do not have bottom surgery are not infertile. hrt affects fertility but not to the extent that trans people cannot have biological children at all.
but this is about the sims in which case trans sims can absolutely no matter what have children unless you specifically select not to.

I gave the trait to a vampire: totally safe. Also, you can add the trait to existing sims with the cheat:
traits.equip_trait trait_hidden_islandancestor_elemental

In create a sim you can change preferences to women (and men) being able to get pregnant OR make others pregnant now. Hope this helps in the future!

I reduced the number of ads in the video now. TH-cam does this automatically and it's one more thing you need to remember to do on a new upload. Sure wish they'd let us put a limit, like only an ad every 8-9 mins vs one every 5. Anyway, thanks for drawing my attention to it. If I'd put a week worth of work into this video and it had really compelling info, I might be OK with that, but that's not the case here. At all.

i know you did this awhile ago but recently i started play sims 3 again and even though its glitchy? it has way more gameplay and sim action. sims 4 seems to be more for building. too bad they can't combine them cuz that would be the ultimate game.
To build friendship more quickly, click on your phone or camera and choose take picture of.... Choose some filters, take all 5 photos and you’ll build like 25% instantly. You can get to BFF status in like 3 or 4 interactions. I don’t know if the filters matter but when I did this and only took one picture, no filter, I didn’t get as much friendship gain.

Ask to cloudgaze or Ask to Stargaze gets you to become friends with Sims quickly.

The little pile of ash on the deck is what was left of the salad you put near the rock flaming rock.
For ancient spirits that are all for keeping alive the culture and traditions of the island they are pretty trendy and up to date haha! 😂

I knew the kids could get the trait but I didn’t know they could have this power
dude, have you ever been playing and a fire starts that you can never put out? I have, it causes you to lose everything. It just keeps spreading and spreading and your sims cannot make it to the area to put it out (for no reason at all that I could see). That happened so often that I almost stopped playing with any fireplaces for a while (which was a bummer). I haven't had it happen in a while, but .....ooops probably just jinxed myself.

You don't have to have a sim with the secret trait move in with you. I had a pair of twins get the trait while doing the 100 baby challenge and that's all about one night stands lol
