Getting all Sims 4 Childhood Bonus Traits: Super Sim Let's Play Part 3

  • In Part 3 of my The Sims 4 Super Sim Let's Play, I start with an established foundation and can be more serious about approaching the many requirements to finish childhood aspirations.
    Completing all four will give my Sim a bonus to all Mental, Physical, Social, and Creative Skills. This means ALL skills in The Sims 4 will get this boost, on top of the Top Notch Toddler reward trait that he already has.
    Establishing this will put me in a strong position to finish the scouting badges next time, and pursue character values traits that help my Sim to have better behavior and more emotional control. Super Sims dont belch in public.
    Mom learns to make amazing meals that defer hunger for long periods, which causes me to get days and nights mixed up somewhat. I really enjoyed this session even if it wasn't one with a lot of funny moments.

    Just some tips about character traits: Don't really focus on responsiblity and manners because you will get those if you set the table, do homework, brush teeth, clean up and use friendly introduction. Use toys to "play with emotion", write in a diary, and wind down with classical music to help increase Emotional Control. Empathy can be gained by volunteering, playing with booboo doctor set, and helping others with negative moodlets. I find Conflict resolution the hardest but if your sim can "help fix bad relationship" with other sims it works pretty well.
    I love your guides and you are the main reason I stack rewards with traits and moodlets like they are coupons. Keep up the good work.

      Yes, conflict resolution is the hardest ! I always try to skill up parenting as much as I can while the kid is a baby, then as a kid try to max this one up with "teach to say sorry" then preciously guard it from chance cards until the kids grows up to adult.
      Empathy is a bit similar since it's so easy as a child and ways more annoying as a teen. But at least teens can volunteer if you choose wrong and lose a chunk of empathy.

      Conflict resolution can be very easy if you’re high on parenting, just keep choosing whatever option there is that raises conflict resolution when the kid asks for advice or an opportunity comes. I’m pretty sure it usually lowers manners or responsibility maybe, so it’s easy to get them to where they were.
      At least I know that I wanted to have a sim with low conflict resolution and responsibility for my storyline, yet he got the positive from each category even though I wasn’t focusing on it and did things on purpose that lowered it.

    It’s way easier to get the value traits as a child because you can have the parent directly teach manners and conflict resolution through the parenting menu, they can’t for teens. The boo boo billy doll teaches kids empathy and you can spam their cue with that. Any character value gaining activity allows mom to encourage through the parenting menu that increases gains substantially and counts as disciplining the child

    For future reference and those wanting to do the super sim challenge. The friendly trait you buy with aspiration points is a must for the social aspiration for kids. It takes SO long to build friendships as a kid, with this trait all you have to do is a friendly greeting to an adult and maybe a couple of friendly interactions and you are instant friends. Same with other children.

  • @jackstark1294
    @jackstark1294 4 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    If you are looking to make friends quickly, spend your aspiration reward points on Incredibly Friendly trait. Just by introducing yourself to another sim, you will be very close to friends with them. Do a couple of friendly interactions with them and you will be friends. If you also get the Observant trait, you will immediately know all of their traits when you introduce yourself. By knowing all of their trait, you can pick the social interactions you know they will like and gain friendship even quicker. What I mean by this is, if they are Art Lovers, you can pick the social interactions with the paint pallet icon next to it. You will gain ++ friendship with each of the interactions, as opposed to just + with all other interactions.

    u should build conflict resolution as a child. It is much harder as a teen, so is scouts (more tedious)

  • @Val_Far

    For a more efficient kitchen layout, have only one counter between the fridge and stove. I see so many Simmers place the two so far apart. Since the Prima guide of The Sims 2 days, I've set mine up that way. Tried and true. Maybe it doesn't matter though?
    I find the emotional control and conflict resolution character values traits harder to do in teenhood. I get as much as I can as a kid by the parent(s) teaching in the parenting social menu. And if the kid/teen "asks for advice," I always select what raises emotional control or conflict resolution since manners and responsibility are easier to gain back. You can spam volunteering to raise empathy as a teen. You can spam empathy as a kid by playing with the doctor toy set. Spam brushing teeth as a kid/teen for responsibility. For manners, kids/teens can spam friendly introductions and setting the table.

      Val Far Emo Control is very easy if the teen Plays the Violin with Emotion. And then write in the journal regularly. Doing Wind Down with Classical and Jogging also helps. As long as the child starts writing in journal as a child, the Emo Control will go up slowly but surely. I usually spam the violin to push the last bit of Emo Control.

    At the park, if you ask children to join in the monkey bar they will play together and befriend you while you get motor skills. The jungle gym (pirate ship/spaceship thing) improves your creativity and you can ask one adult to join in as well. Much better than playing chess with one sim at a time.

      Carl, since this is a Super Sim playthrough, are you going to complete some of the other child-only things alongside the childhood skills and aspirations?
      Stuff like Voidcritter card collecting! I don't think you can do that once you aren't a child anymore. I can't remember if even Childish teens/adults can still take part in that.
      Though I guess card collecting can be bulldozed through purely via money, if you don't want to bother with the trading or trash rummaging part of it, but you do still get a plaque through the mail for collecting every card!

    Happy +4 "Exquisite meal" is possible with the 'master of stoves and grills' trait from Outdoor Retreat, and impeccable gourmet food.
    As someone raising many super sims in a story on the forum, yes, it takes me about a week to get gold scout and all 4 child aspirations. Except Hobart. • @DoveJS

      Don't get a maid! There's a bug where they will force your game into 3x speed when they're on the lot, doing their job. I don't know why but it's really annoying. The offered solution is to just fire any maid on the lot so don't bother until they fix this. I didn't know about it until it happened and it scared the bejeezus out of me. I didn't know the pause button could even break! (Like, I'd pause, then it would for a second or two before it would promptly switch to 3x speed even though I hadn't touched it.)
      It's especially annoying because I was going to send my YA kid to a college dorm and hire a maid there. Thank goodness I was frittering around a bit, debating where I wanted her to live (stay at home, be just off campus, etc.) I think I was pausing to check what degree she'd need for the Stylist career (I know they need a lot of different skills but I figured there'd be an optimal choice) and then it did that...

You should do more LP > Guides where you do like you have done here play a character/family and focus on one aspect of the game, then when you finish that aspect, release a guide of that aspect. If you queue up all the drawing types before your sim actually starts drawing, then you can stack the interactions, but the second they actually start drawing then you have to wait until they've cleared the art table before you can a new interaction.

    The imagination skill can be mentored by an adult sim who has lv 10 in piano or violin. Similarly the mental skill can be mentored by an adult with max logic and the mentor aspiration reward. So a prepared parent can help knock out the skill gains a lot faster.
    Also helping with the homework reduces the time needed to be spent on it giving time for other things.

  • @rodh1404
    @rodh1404 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For optimal play, you should probably have established a club right from the start. With the right options, making friends and skill gains go so much faster while your club is gathering (which it should be almost 24/7).
    It's been a little while since I've played Sims 4, but do packed lunches still work? If so, you could probably pack that Lobster Thermidore and get an even better boost from it.

    • @CarlsSimGuides
      @CarlsSimGuides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I think you're right on that one. I probably would've done so if i were more experienced with recording while playing. Doing what I 'know' is easier, and its harder to talk period the more things I throw into the mix. I figured it'd work out going at it in teen years. I want to leave some skills for when I have some more buffs though because I'd like to see what those I'm familiar with are like with.. oh 300% boost or so..

    Hello, here're my tips for raising empathy, manner, responsibility, emotional control & conflict resolution:
    1. Empathy: have the child play doctor using this baby toy (forgot the name of the toy, it's a baby and doctor bag). I think it's one effective way to raise empathy as a child. I suggest you do it now since he can't play toys as a teen. Have him go volunteering also raise empathy.
    2. Manner: have the mom teach him say please & thankyou, have him set the dinning table, have him clean up, have him complement others.
    3. Responsibility: have him do his homeworks, have him do school projects, have him brush teeth & feed the pet
    4. Emotional control: buy a diary/journal then make him write diary, have him wind down with classical music
    5. Conflict resolution: the only effective way i know for now is to have the mom teach him say sorry.
    I hope that helps. Sorry for bad english, it's my second language.

    Realistic house builder here. Try putting a door from the bedroom either into the bathroom, or just outside the bathroom door. Shortening the path from bed and desk to bathroom pays off, in sims as it does in human houses.
    Also, why is that bathroom so big and empty?

    Befriending the monster takes several successful talks. The upside if the kid does so, they can simply ask the monster to go away, the downside is they will always be energized every time it makes an appearance.
