I was the opposite. I never liked the high pitched whine of most liter bikes. 09+ R1's I love. I don't ride motorcycles, but our dirt race cars are powered by 1000cc sport bike engines. Personally I go with the 09-11 R1, open header, slightly baffled almost open muffler. With a Guhl Guts flashed ecu and running 100% methanol.
Had a similar set up on my 16 r1, do get a ECU flash with better tune or get a tune done when removing cats, before that block off plates are a must, you can't tune your bike even with auto tune due to fresh air being pushed into exhaust to help catalic converters brake down co2s, it will also help with that backfire you get, in my opinion it's one of the best sounding exhausts, not too quiet not too obnoxious.

Good job. Surprised they went with a gloss piece underneath the tank on the 2020. I definitely use my black stamped pieces on mountain rides (2018 year). Surprised it's taking so long for a 2020 tune.
Sick bike would you leave it open headers for that sound and if somebody did decide to leave it like that is it fine or would it mess up the bike ? Thinking of getting an r1
You have to tune the air/fuel mixture once you de-cat any bike. It'll run way too lean. Use a power commander with autotune or flash the ecu (2019 and older).
At first no, I just left the exhaust cables in place but zip tied them up so the cables were still “functional” never had a engine light pop up that way. Then later I got the flash and removed the cable entirely from the bike

Anyone watching that actually owns a R1, DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS DUDE. Deleting you Factory Muffler so it sounds better is a terrible idea. Most Bike's come from the Factory slightly Lean for Emissions and Deleting your Factory Exhaust will add to that Lean Air/Fuel Mixture. Causing your Bike to Run super Hot. It doesn't take a Mechanic to understand why that is a bad thing.
Thanks for your reply. You have some valid points. I have spoken to 3 highly skilled tuners about my situation and they all said I am totally fine to leave it as is. The reason is because I am at high altitude (over 4,000 ft) my bike will not run lean at this altitude. I have put over 7,000 hard miles on this exact setup and it’s ran great the entire time. I will agree that people at lower altitude should not do this without a tune to adjust. Also your comment about deleting the stock muffler being a horrible idea, the muffler will not change ANYTHING with the tune or AFR. It’s the cat box that changes the tune. So your comment about the muffler is invalid.

You are talking a bunch of crap, first of all the realest japanese “bikes” are in motogp and are all crossplane or v4 that sound exactly like this even the moto gp champion gsxr 1000 is a crossplane and a 06 “gsxr” is not a k1 stay off the comments you damn fool.

I zip tied the cables up behind the brake fluid holder on the side. No problems with anything. No engine light or other problems at all.

Your Duffel Bag ordered from rev zilla. Comes with mid pipe and muffler it’s around $700 if I recall.
You can remove the servo cables and simply install the servo buddy.. you plug in with the motor off and you will get no code warnings.
What did you do with the two cables that run from the exhaust please?
I zip tied them up behind the brake fluid tank. 👍 no issues with any error lights ever.
Look in the video you can see to the left of the tank the two zip ties holding the exhaust cables.
