Thank your for the time you invested in creating the video, and sharing your knowledge. I bought a used 95' YJ 4x4 in 2014, and just recently the transmission started to go out. It doesn't matter how old your video is, by far, it's the best one I've found that really shows how to tear-down and rebuild the AX15. Thanks again for your hard work, a lot of us really appreciate the effort you put into this.
Gonna go ahead and leave a remark on each series. Great job on this video! Really appreciate how through you are on each detail. I think this trans is more complicated than the last Porsche transaxle I rebuilt!
Awesome job man. Thanks for putting it up. When I'm ready to rebuild my AX15, I'm going to watch this series again a few times. And the "preview" at the end looked like professional editing. You're not going Hollywod on us are you?? LOL. Don't start drinking with your pinky up!!
At 11:40 you installed the 3rd gear "retaining spring" I found mine in pieces. Some manuals call it a "selective snap ring" is this the same part and do you have a typical thickness? Other wise I am forced to buy a dozen different ones at $8 a piece which is a waste.
and where did you get your new gears? im rebuilding my first manual, looks easyer then the 42RE or 4L60-E ive done, just looking for a good sorce of parts
hi and really nice videos you have here, i had folowing you here and i never saw how this woarks but starting undestand now whit this videos, however i just dont undestand the part in this reassenbling when you say you have to pressure....so how do we know we are not pressure too much or less? and why its necessary pressure? thankx again and i aprecheate your videos...sorry some language here but im portuguese
I assume when pressing on that hub with the clips (part between 1st and 2nd ) the hub presses on in the direction that has chamfered splines correct? The hub has a splines that go straight out and the other side has splines that are chamfered I think to allow it to press on safely. This is the only part I am confused on.
hey rob I'm having a problem I just measured my clearances and 1st and 2ND is good but for 3rd I could fit everything under .014 in. the book I'm am using says the "(8) Verify third gear thrust clearance with feeler gauge (Fig. 121). Clearance should be 0.10 to 0.25 mm (0.004 to 0.010 in.) " also just like in your video the 3rd was hard to rotate and mine is the same. what do I need to do to fix this problem?
brother I'm from venezuela I have a box x15 and I have doubts about one of the pieces take it to a mechanic and I'm over something and do not know where it came from to see if you can help me something else here there are many boxes of these what is not there almost spare parts
@montanasoftware thank you and your welcome, they would never put me in the movies, im to real and far from perfect lol im just fine being a common man. like John Conlee put it, if i have my say its gonna stay that way cause high browed people lose there sanity. so a common man is what ill be, And I'd rather chug-a-lug a mug of Budweiser Beer. Than sip a crystal glass of wine lol good tune
Will I need to ask A question and I found your videos . My manual doesn't show what I remember and I need to get this unit out now. I'm a builder 2nd generation . Please if you see this and can take a sec to Y?N me I'd really appreciate it.. Got my own Vaseline jokes and stories to trade for a n answer.. Plug, intermediate plate between 1-2 rail and rev rail shows longer in service manual than plug between 1-2 and 3-4 rails .. cant be? wouldn't stand in the bore right? have done these in all variations.. grrr..plz? Are both plugs duplicates?

before the synchro ring shoves against a gear, isn't the gear just loose on the shifter shaft so this should be an easy joining of the two, right?...
