When they came screeching to a stop, Shelby should have looked over at Ford and said, "That was four and a half million. Let me show you the other four and a half". And floored it.
Let me sound technical here... In the original GT40, you never 'floor it' from stop unless you want to destroy the tires or the engine. You have to be gentle on it at first, only when you reach 3rd gear can you 'floor it' and then only for a brief while til the engine reaches about 6500 rpm, then you shift up to 4th gear and then you can max it up to 7000rpm for no more than about 60 seconds. Why ? The car wasn't designed for acceleration races, it was designed to win ONE 24 hours race, an endurance race.

I'm not a car enthusiasts, but i find this movie very compelling, it has everything, friendship, corporate dynamic, thrilling race, rivalry, family, even the fact that sometime your enemy has more respect to you than your boss or ally. My number one movie of 2019, Endgame comes second for me.
Torque. Mr.Ford was feeling Torque. Not horsepower. Torque is what gets you to (xxx) mph. Horsepower is what keeps you at (xxx). Since they were doing short little acceleration runs, that was a demonstration of torque. If they had been going on a flat out, pedal to the metal speed run around a track, (or runway, whatever) that would have been a demonstration of horsepower. Nonetheless, great scene! I like to think Mr. Ford was laughing in this scene. Laughing and crying really are so much alike, don't you think?

I may not be a ford man, but that moment of blissful achievement on Ford’s face was something most any Legacy car guy LIVES to eventually achieve. It’s a mixture of bliss, relief, grief, joy, and extremely potent adrenalin. It’s that moment where you just FEEL exactly what your mentor must have felt at their great milestone. And once they pass the torch to you? Then you aim for the next major Milestone, and when you hit it (most likely gunning it at top speed or alternatively when the big project is finally done and looks so beautiful you’d almost beg no one to touch it until you’ve sat in it and had a good tour of every inch of the dash, made a good spot in the seat, and just stare out the windshield in awe). Those are the moments a car guy, and on a slightly more meta side, most kids who aim to live up to what they feel their parents would be proud of...it’s almost indescribable. It’s damn near a religious experience, and it feels fantastic to have the initial weight off your shoulders. And then you saddle the next one after you can calm down and realize YOU get to set the next goal post. It’s brilliant, and can we get a freaking TOAST for this master here who captured that moment. Just, bravo man, bravo.
I thought it was a comedy bit when he cried, until he talked about how he missed his father and he wished that he was still alive. Then I teared. You'll always miss someone that you love.

Terrific movie in which Hollywood for the most part has forgotten how to make them like this. Ferrari had a much longer race history in Europe than Ford had. And they had one of the best race budgets in Europe.
That's funny.

That movie sequence was the greatest piece of the entire movie...the man understood the meaning of the word horse power , there is no substitute !!!
