    Dude this is incredible. You're my go to youtube channel for Blender Tutorials. Keep up the great work👍

  • @matthewcs490

    I do a similar technique. Instead of a curve, I use a single vertex and extrude it with screw and subsurf modifiers so that I already have geometry and I just form the shape with the vertex. Extrude and move. Much easier than a curve. And with the technique illustrated here, you don’t need the solidify modifier because you can move the vertex at the top to create a lip.
    By the way, you can make a single vertex by merging the default cube at center or use the Mesh Extra Objects addon built into blender.

    Firstly si-fi, now vases, mabye organic shaders in the future. You are taking control over material industry, which is absolutely phenomenal.
    Mabye a sand shader next time? It's a little tricky to make

      Sam Williams hey, I’m good friends with both string fairy and ducky 3D. They are both great with procedural materials, though I feel that their tutorial styles are a bit different.

    You don't need to copy the hex for the color. You can hover over the bar of color, Ctrl + C, and then Ctrl + V over the color that you want it to be pasted to. I think this method (of hovering and copying) works for many fields in blender.

    For the bottle's bottom you can check 'merge vertices' in the skew modifier and then with snapping on move the bottom vertex right on the axis. It would result in perfectly smooth bottom without any overlapping or weird topology.

    • @Marsleader88
      @Marsleader88 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Basically you would just need to rasterize the path (turn the path into an actual mesh) and then use the Cell Fracture add on to break the mesh apart.

    Make a path for the vase same as ducky, subdivide it, Convert to mesh, add a displacement modifier (clouds), select object for the displacement texture coordinates, add and select an empty, add screw modifier and subsurf to the vase as Ducky. Then move the empty around... ta da! procedural vase variations :)

  • @ygy4301
    @ygy4301 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, you can use an alternative solution: add a path(in fact that any curve will do) and add a circle. Select the path and go to curve panel and under geometry-bevel, choose the circle as the object. and use Alt+S, Ctrl+T to control its shape. note that you can change the circle so you can make a flat vase or in any fancy shape you want!

      No! There is ALWAYS room for improvement!
      For example: Showing that you can change the steps in the curve and spin modifier... to optimize the detail. Solidify in instead of out so you don't change the profile.... and you don't need unless it's going to be glass. Using bezier curves so that you have more control and vector segments don't use extra resolution needlessly. How to make repeating radial bumps, etc...

  • @skillzorskillsson8228
    @skillzorskillsson8228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I personally dont like using a curve for making this kind of project. I feel that you have alot more freedom by extruding just 1 vertex. Its the same kind of modelling exept that you extrude a vertex instead of extruding a curve so i still use Screw modifier and all that. I personally prefer that method but yeah sure you can get some cool results using curves too

    What I don't see is how to solve sharp edges with paths? With Bezier curve you can set a point as Vector to make a sharp transition but it seems not working with paths.
    Also, when I add gradient, by default it is vertical, not horizontal: i.imgur.com/kBHiyUi.png
    I also got quite a different end result with checkered shadows, even though my light values were the same: i.imgur.com/ngT74N8.png
